My Steralite CFL Grow

Your buds are filling in well, but the fact that leaves are yellowing is not a good thing. The more healthy green leaves your plant has the better it processes light, does what plants do, and that means more bud. I can't tell you what it is, but you should always strive to keep every leaf on you plant as healthy and green as possible.

Someone said earlier "thats what leaves do when you flower" and I would have to disagree with that. That happens as a result of some sort of deficiency, not because your plant has begun flowering. Other than that the bud is looking good, and I hope you get a great harvest from her.

I too am using one of those Steralite cabs. I think it is a pretty cool, budget grow cab. Good Luck!

that information is only factual when its very early in flowerin stage or in vege....after 20days of flowering the fan leaves are expected to begin there yellowing and dropping off your plant does not have a dificiency its just a flowering plants maturity...and only the fan leaves are expected to do so

look up some info, or grows from uncle ben or riddleme. They talk about "keeping it green", meaning all the leaves. The fan leaves are the biggest leaves on the plant, so I would think that they can process the most light. I am not trying to argue or prove a point.

me neither was just stating something from my knowledge if im wrong id love for someone to object..im always willing to learn...and i kno that what some people were told or 'know' may not always be right but im willing to be proven wrong and taught somethin new

thats what I am saying... you think it is supposed to happen.. I don't. Like I said earlier, look up uncle ben or riddle me. They grow amazing plants, that stay FULLY green the whole time. No yellowing of any leaves.

Looking back at some of my previous posts... Right before I switched over to flowering I had what I thought was me burning them. Looking back I wonder if they were already starved, because I then proceeded to go several weeks without fertilizing and the yellowing really didn't get any better, probably worse. More importantly I guess... yellowing started way before 20 days into flowering...

https://www.rollitup.org/cfl-growing/335481-my-steralite-cfl-grow-4.html#post4335614 (day 38... 4 days before flowering)
https://www.rollitup.org/cfl-growing/335481-my-steralite-cfl-grow-5.html#post4383525 (9 days into flowering)

Since then I have been fertilizing every time I water per the instructions on the bottle... it suggests 7 drops per quart of 8-14-9... I started every other water, then every, and lately I've even upped it to 10 drops per quart, but the yellowing of the leaves persists... The speed at which it persists hasn't changed much either. Both plants take in about a half a quart every 3 days or so.

I added in some epsom salt a couple weeks back, and I have also added in some molasses a couple times now.

Any of this change anyone's mind? I still don't know what to make of it :)

Picked up a pH meter at the store today.... stuck it in the soil a few times and it ranged anywhere between 3.5 to 5. That definitely looks out of wack.. any suggestions? I saw some mention of using baking soda to raise the pH.... is this advisable? just curious as a grocery store is nearby :)

I have never heard of using baking soda to raise it, but I know that lime will do the trick. You could try adding 1 tbsp per gallon of soil. Work it into your soil as deep as you can, but try not to damage any roots. The lime will help to neutralize the ph of your soil even if the water you are putting in is high or low. It will continue to do this until it is all leeched away. In the future you should add it too your mix before planting.

Day 77 Overall
Day 35 Flowering

In an effort to get the pH levels up to a reasonable level I flushed both plants yesterday and as a test added a little bit of baking soda to some of the water for the untopped plant. As of today the pH levels for the untopped plant are around 5-6 depending on where I stick the probe. The other plant still has lower pH levels but they have at least improved a bit. I also bought some lime today, haven't added any yet though.

Here is hoping I am making things a little better... this close to the end I would hate to screw it up :)

Day 79 Overall
Day 37 Flowering

I took another 3 clones yesterday which brings me up to 7 total plants now assuming all survive. Looking forward to growing the same plant again just to see how much I improve over my first grow.

Slowly getting the pH of the two plants under control, one is back to about normal, the other is still low, but much better than where it was.

Now that my first grow is nearing completion I have started to work on prep for the next round of plants. I plan on taking about a week, after this grow is complete, and tearing apart the grow box so I can upgrade the ventilation, and see about getting this box over 200W.

Also I was at Lowes today, and picked up some stuff to mix up my own little soil recipe. I decided on a simple blend this time: 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 pearlite, 1/3 mushroom compost and 1 tablespoon of lime per gallon of soil. Will see how this recipe holds up with this next set of clones. Anything anyone would recommend I add to this mix?
