ok well here's the thing... my soil tends to dry out very quickly... the top 1/2 inch can dry out in as little as a few hrs.... ive never seeen it "look saturated" for more then a day so i dont know if i should water more... or leave it how they are.... i have 2 sprouts and 3 seeds comming up the sprouts have brown tips and brown along the sides of there leaves.... but that has to be expected cuz i left them w/o water for 10 days and had them next to a 100w cFl ... i think they actully might be stunted... cuz there about 20+ days along... and there still on there first node

sounds like you have good soil. I've had stnted plants that made it to harvest and some that didn't. 10 days is a little long. They may never recover. VV

how much water should i be using on what amount of soil to keep it the appropriate moisture... general numbers would help alot.

EXample : 200 ml of water for a 2 gallon pot every 3 days

They really need to be down in the mid 70's man....I was saying 82 MAX.

MY grow room feels nice and cool when its really been like 85 in there, so you never know.

Dot I tried to look at the pictures, gives me a 404 error message. There is a better way. When you post a reply, GO Advanced> scroll to Manage attachments> browse and Upload from A:/ drive or your USB etc. They show up as thumbnails in the bottom of the post.
Best thing to do is get a moisture meter? Try this. Two gallon pot, one gallon of phd water, Pour the water through and measure the run off, let it drain for like a half hour. This will not hurt you plant, it will flush it and bring oxygen down to the roots. Ok, if you know how much water you had to start with and how much the pot didn't keep, you now know how much water to give it. I'm not growing in soil. VV

error? it works fine for me.... and thats how i did do it... they do show up as thumbnails at bottom of thread  you sure you were looking at mine?

as for the idea about water that is pretty smart \

and Stopwhining : that was just a general observation i have no idea about the exact numbers i will go try to get a nice digital thermomiter in the next few days. and get some exact numbers up ... but either way my soil shouldent be drying up that fast from 1 x 100watt cfl. which was 1-2 inches from plants... now is like 3-5

honestly temps REALLY change how quickly your soil drys no matter what type of lighting because not only is the hot air drying the soil but the plants use more water

Yes, but a pot that has good drainage will still let gravity work and the water will run to the bottom of the pot, so the top should get dry fairly quickly. VV

yea i was just wondering why it was sandlike in texture and it happened so fast....i think ima try watering more ......and ill get a thermomiter asap. someone told me that i was overwatering my plants but i dont see how thats possible when i left for 10 days( no water) and every time i look the soil is bone dry

thnx for the help guys. i hope the new pots or a thermomiter can lead to further insight on this
