it al depends on how big you want them to get
short and fat. LOL. i guess ill have to work on a decent DWC box i guess. I have a couple of those aerogardens we grow tomatoes in i thought they might work.

I am not sure about the big ones however I am running 6 100watt equ. bulbs. right on the package it says 1600 lumens in base up position...and 1500 lumens in base down position. With all that light in that little ass box a few hundred lumens....nope not going to matter.cfls are best used side ways
you are wasting the top ones
Yea they screw right in...do those 85 watt cfls fit in a normal socket? a where did you get them from?
I would have to agree. I would hard wire timers right in with all the lights...set them once and forget about it!and also something to think about is timer controlled lights vs switches (i assume you plan on controlling the light cycles with the switches), because the timer is less likely to get stoned and forget... lol just my thoughts... looks pretty professional tho
thanks for the quick reply LT. BTW where in michigan do you live if you dont mind me asking? Im in between ann arbor and detroit.
Stonesour how did you wire all that up? im very interested in making a box just like that maybe a little bit bigger cuz the one i have now is a little small.
nice box +rep
nicely constructed box... but how many plants are you expecting to grow? id suggest flat white paint all the way around but you can do whatev. and i dont quite understand why you have both the veg and flower lights in the box at the same time, seems like itd make more sense to change the bulbs out halfway thru, plus there wouldnt be as many bulbs taking up valuable space. and also something to think about is timer controlled lights vs switches (i assume you plan on controlling the light cycles with the switches), because the timer is less likely to get stoned and forget... lol just my thoughts... looks pretty professional tho
One Word - SICK!
because the timer is less likely to get stoned and forget... lol just my thoughts...tho
Very good looking box, thanks for posting this! Since the lights are stationary I imagine you will be doing some form of LST to keep the branches off of them? Sorry if this question is a tad newbish, I haven't grown with CFLs so not sure on if they would burn the plant on contact.
I would like to see a picture of the exposed wires, at first i didnt think you had exposed wires that why i asked how you wired it.
my recomindation for your plants touching the light would be to get some plexi glass it makes it so you dont have to worry about your plants growing right up to the lights (they will burn if they touch the light) and it helps with a heat problem you might have if you dont have enough or a big enough fan.
if your doing a grow journal let me know i would love to see how this works.
I will be doing a journal but not for some time, have in-laws coming in a month and staying for a couple of weeks so i have to take my tomatoe plants down there and convince them its a grow box for tomatoes..LOL. then after that im going on vacation but after that i definatly will be growing. I just put on the first coat of super white flat paint and WATCH OUT, man that shit is BRIGHT!! Ill post pictures tomorrow when i get everything together.
