My phototron grow..week 4 flower

Here are the final results of my grow. No, it's not an optical illusion, those are branches hanging upside down. Not sure how much is there but it should be enough to keep me and my wife fortified for at least a couple of weeks. This is my inaugural run of a Tron, so wasn't real sure of what to do and how to do it. If you have the instructions to your Tron, you know what I mean. The instructions SUCK and I honestly think that whoever wrote those instructions were really stoned at the time. Anyway, Just as I suspected, the buds are smallish in comparison to an HID setup and didn't yield a pound per plant, but from what understand, this strain is outstanding, so no complaints here. I consider this my benchmark and will try to improve each grow with every grow. I also made tons of mistakes along the way and also trimmed her on a consistent basis, which you are not supposed to cut on autos and I did so I factored that into my results as well. It may have been only one plant but it took me and my wife eight hours to harvest, soak the branches in honey and then hang them. The tent fan is set to max, 449 cfm, and I added a second fan so hopefully I can jar these in 2-5 days. I will keep you updated, as long as you can be found on this site.

Hey Ttystikk, I just finished my grow in my Tron and I think that you may be right: I may have had better results if I had used a LED. I am very seriously considering replacing the cfl that hangs at the top with a LED. What would you recommend?

And i really dont get why its so warm in it either...the temp in the closet its in runs about 70-72..but all i know is if i open the closet door the temps start to go down almost instantly inside the tron

After giving this considerably more thought, I would suggest two things:
1.) prop one of the panels open with a ruler or stick that is no more than 12" in length. This should create a draft that should cool the Tron down a little; considering that you have a exhaust fan already.
2.) I may have mentioned this before, but it sounds like you may be using bulbs that are either stronger then 55 watts, which is the recommended wattage for the pll/biax bulbs and check the kelvin on them too. Here is the article that i read that helped me determine what bulbs to purchase for my Tron:

I went with the 4100k based on the information in this article. However, choose the bulb that is right for you that will help you achieve whatever objective you may have. For example, if you want to make your Tron a veg or mother chamber, I would go with 6500k throughout, if you want it to just bloom smaller plants then I would go with 2700k or 2100k, etc. Just my two cents trying to help you out.

Whats a phototron he said. Hey Plantsin pants, You totally just outed yourself on your age! lol, a phototron is an old 80's/90's vertical grow tank, that had flourecent lights running vertically up the tank. They were a somewhat popular item, that was sold mainly out of the back of High TImes Magazine. I remember looking at those and thinking, "if only i had a phototron, I could grow them fat buds then!" hahah!

I only started growing in the late 90s
Early 00's. I had seen this thing in magazines but didnt remember the name.. Funny how it was the cutting edge stuff back then eh? Lol

for sure, it was. I remember dreaming about a phototron. lol. THis grower down the road used to brag about his he ordered off high times, and I used to be just jealous. lol. TImes they are a changin.

Haven't weighed it yet. We don't have a scale so I have to borrow one; maybe. We managed to fill four jars of various sizes somewhere between 90% and 50% full. I will post pics later today. We are planning on doing some cleaning in the tent to prepare for the next project that I hope to start Wednesday or Thursday. When you see the yield keep in mind that I trimmed her on a consistent basis, which you are not supposed to cut on autos at all. By cutting on her all of the time it greatly reduced the yield, so we could have had a lot more. But overall, I would say it was a success. I set my benchmark at 1 oz. and we exceeded that so no complaints here.

Yeah, pretty much better than nothing. If you review pages 1 and 2 of this thread you can see some of the pics that I took of the plant in The Tron. It may give you an idea of what they are/were. If you do a Google search on Phototron you might get a better idea of what I am working with and see for yourself the results of some of the grows that come out of them. The buds on this grow were not the biggest, but tried some dried buds and yep it works fine. Probably not for a commercial grower but for personal use I'd say it's a keeper. You just have to use a good quality seed and grow for yourself only. If you keep an eye on CL or Ebay you can find them for $30-$100. If you buy one, keep in mind that the company went out of business a while ago so parts are hard to come by and you may have to improvise on some things like a replacement ballast, etc.

They need a ballast? Wow....thats weird. Guess they were ahead of their time with the cfl technology.

They do use a ballast. It is my understanding that under the plastic tub, at the bottom of The Tron, there is a ballast that connects all of the wires from the bulbs and converts electricity from the wall socket to the appropriate wattage (?) for each bulb. Finding one of those might be tricky, but if you are mechanically inclined (which I am definitely not) then you could improvise something that would work.

no im a residential grower and i never got off to those things .Im more satisified with my custom micro cab. but from those pics looks like yall get dank . i broke mine apart dont do it either lol its just looks simple under neath your good they wired it correctly T5s are my cheaper on your bill

Alright, so here are pics of my harvest from my Tron. Attached are three pics, should have been four, that illustrate how much I got off of one AlienXTriangle grown in my Tron. The pic that I am missing is a pic that is equivalent to the last pic which is a full plate. Sorry, I don't have a scale so I don't know how much is really there other than four jars full. Very nice

So, I borrowed a cheap envelope scale and my crop weighed in at 3.5 oz of just smokeable material. I did not weigh the leaves that I am planning on making hash with; just the buds off of the plant came in at 3.5 oz. So I guess you would have a choice: you can grow one plant and get 3 oz or you can grow six plants and get three oz. I am trying to get a Heisenberg Special project off of the ground and am planning on growing that out and then maybe I will send away for some smallish photos and grow all six at the same time and see how that goes, but that project is a future project. I will keep you updated, if you want, as things progress.

Pics look good. Way to rock out an old school setup. Nothing wrong with it. Replace the bulbs as needed to keep it effective. Keep on keeping on.

Yup definitely too old lol. Back in the day that was like the Bud Lightyear of growing lol. It's the first one I've actually seen in use though

Awesome job man i'd be happy with half that much as this is my first go round and definitely keep me updated and i'll do the same...maybe i can get some new pics up tonight but hasnt been any real big change the past week or so

If you planning on keeping that thing in production. Possibly changing out the regular flo's to HO T5's (new ballasts) might be worth the effort, just a thought.
