You can't control much when growing outdoors, you are at the mercy of all the elements. Of course there is benefits to both growing indoor and outdoor, but chances are you will not find as high of quality as your indoor.
As you learn more outdoor techniques and methods it will be damn close though!

I have never grown cannabis; apart from tossing a few seeds in my garden, and hoping for the best. This year I decided to make use of the quagmire in the South African legal system; our fantastic climate; and I tried to apply some of my knowledge in the commercial timber farming industry. My Dad (on whom's farm I work) prescribed some 100% organic fertilizer that I applied a few times at erratic intervals. To my utter surprise - I have 3 meter (about 9ft) monsters in my garden - with no idea how I am going to get it all clipped!!! I have attached a picture of one - seed was bought from "Biltong and Budz" and pollinated with feminized pollen from "Holy Seeds" (strain name: Gorilla Glue x Gelato 69).
Does anyone know whether the size of the tree effects the quality (more specifically the overall strength of the bud) Or does it all come down to how it has been grown?

Size will not affect quality, it all comes down to how it was grown. Your father must be an excellent farmer, what fertilizers did he tell you to use?

As I mentioned in my post above; I am an absolute novice at growing, but a long time admirer of good bud.
I used Coco-Peat; River Sand; Worm-casting and Perlite as my soil mix. Then added a commercial hydroponic mix (I cannot recall the name, but it is intended for tomatoes and cucumbers) to the soil; making sure not to mess with the PH of the soil too much. Then on occasion I give the plants a topical spray using Alexin and Crop Biolife. I also was able to extend an industrial hose to a nearby surface spring and use a simple ball valve and gravity to pump water to the garden (so, fortunately my water source is chemical-free).

This is definitely not the truth.
If your outdoor climate is flawless you may get nearly the same quality, but honestly what are the chances of that?

Only trimmed the bottom arms, as they were too close to the ground. I used bamboo stakes to support the trees and tie up the arms to the center so that it is nice and sturdy.

My outdoor quality is a quite a bit lower than that. But I pay next to nothing for the bud (about R5000/kilogram - which is about $300 US). The attached pic is what I am currently smoking. In Swaziland they refer to it as "High Grade". For local Swazi strain - the price can be as low as R1200/kilogram.
