My new stealth box

Oh by the way. Total amount of money invested into the box.

$20 CL found broken larger chest of drawers
$50 @ lowes on wood, dowels, wood glue, etc.

Check out my Thread!!! Im currently growing in a Cab just like yours! Enjoy the stealth side of growing!!! :) any questions hit me up!!

Mounted up supports for the floor, might add more support later.

Cut the floor, and added in some extra wall, I could have gained 1.5 inches by going the other way with it... but I don't care.

Cut some slats out of extra wood from the bottoms of drawers to begin light sealing my box.. test fitted.

I caulked up the box a little as well, I am terrible with caulk, always make a mess.

Tomorrow I will attempt to finish the box.

Didn't get too much done today. I started ghetto rigging things, decided to force the 4 inch insulated ducting in there, it was hard to fit the wood without bending it, I taped it instead of gluing...

Gonna finish it later.

Also had to redo the hinges on the front removing one of the skeleton pieces... had an issue with it not completely hinging all the way.

Thanks everyone. I think I will be taking the carbon filter back to run the smaller one, and get a fan speed controller to turn the fan down a little.

Box is looking awesome so far! You can also make your own carbon filter to fit your space requirements. There are a ton of write ups on the net and even a few here on RIU.

Thanks everyone for the positive input. I will look into the DIY carbon filter, although I believe if I get the one size down, it'll be perfect.. I will look into it though. Thanks!

I am considering moving the ducting over and almost directly connecting the fan to my 90 degree elbow... it will give me room to run that carbon filter I already have..

Today I completely light-sealed the front of the cabinet mounted my intake fan(no pics yet), mounted my carbon scrubber and my fan.

The pics don't show the scrubber and fan attached but they are...

Kind of pissed off how loud this fan is, I don't think a fan speed controller is going to make it stealth enough.

I'm loving your build - a fan speed controller can do a lot to tone down fan noise. I know you're tight for space, but enclosing the fan in a box filled with some sort of insulation (or using that sound-deadening board material from the Depot) can help too, AND suspending that box with bungees or something elastic to keep any vibrations from transferring from the fan to the box might be worth considering. Also, don't know if you hooked the fan directly up to that duct elbow, but if you did and there's any vibrations from the fan, they might transfer to the elbow and make some noise that way. Hope this makes sense.

Built a shroud for the axial intake-fan. cut the new back, put the new back on and use a planing tool to plane the panel to match... some rigging of things on here. The stain is going to be the cherry first, then a brown mahogany on top to make it similar to the color of the box.

Thanks for the comments and advice guys. I actually screwed the fan into the box with some 1 1/4 inch thick foam to reduce the rattling of the fan, I want to build a box around the fan, just looking for "ducting" board which I think will be the best solution. for now I am going to try a fan speed controller and a towel.
