My Montana Medical Grow

Right now we only have 8 patients and that is by choice. Until we have harvested and cured our first crop and have it available we do not want to take on any patients. Right now it is just myself and my two partners and 5 others that got their cards as a favor, we paid the bill for them to get their cards. They smoke very little but we saw it necessary add them to insure that we have the headroom in our plant count so that we can maintain and consistently provide our full list of strains at all times. The biggest downfall I see with other caregivers is they have a great looking list of medicine but they never have more than 2-3 strains available at anytime and it is often fast dried improperly cured and still sold in a black market type setting. Those guys seem to be in it just for the money. I definitely want to make a living at it but It also my hearts desire to help people feel better and improve the quality of their lives. We are confident that when the time comes that we are ready to take on new patients our high level of service and the quality of our medicine will set us apart. It is a risk we are willing to take in order to provide the highest quality medicine. We are also a collective, we are in the process of finding a several acre piece of property to setup a facility where folks can come and get their medicine, purchase smoking accessories and hang out and medicate in comfort. We are going to setup a lounge area were people can use our vaporizers and glassware as well. We are going to maintain an on site library, have boardgames, Wii, playstation 3, dartboard and a pool table. Out back we are going to set up a couple horseshoe pits, corn-hole, a gazebo and a fire-pit. We think it is important to give our patients a place where they can be comfortable and hang with other like individuals. We want them to feel like its their place. Alot of caregivers are setting up shop downtown and thumbing their noses at the chamber of commerce, we respect that this is alternative medicine and we prefer to be out of site out of mind and think many patients would rather have some privacy and discretion as well so we are going to setup away from downtown. I know I'd rather not have the police driving by taking note of who's care is in front of the dispensary. We hope to eventually be able to offer things like cooking with cannabis classes, bring in a masseuse etc and have member appreciation gatherings where we bring in bands or I have been a DJ for about 15 years and I could spin some records or have an open mic etc. I am really looking forward to it :p
DJGreenThumb I support your philosophies on the matter, and I salute you. You've got your head in the right place, and I like the forward thinking you've got going. I will definitely be keeping up with your grow. Maybe once I get out west, I can legally buy some clones from your collective. Keep up the good work.

EDIT: Also, as far as the "out of sight, out of mind" thing, I think this is especially true of Montana patients. California, not so much.

EDIT II: "Broadcast/AV Engineer" You work in digital media?

Auzzie....thanks I really appreciate the reassuring words. I have definitely had pleanty of time to think about it, lol.....I have been thinking about this since about the time I sprouted my first seed years ago, dreamt about what it would be like to not have to hide it, and feel like I was putting my family at risk, what it would be like to be able to support them through it and help people with it.This whole operation is like a dream come true. And the way it came about, the timing and everything is like it was meant to be. My sister and her fiancee kind of had the idea on thier own. She hadn't really smoked since high school and didn't really enjoy it to much back then. Lol you have to consider what she was smoking mexican schwag, she suffers from horrible migraines. I always told her she should try smoking pot for them but she never listened, she always said it gave her a headache. The she met this guy who smokes and she tryed smoking some good herb and realized it really helped without the side effects of what she was prescribed. her boyfriend was in the log home industry and it has been declining for several years and the outfit he was working with went out of business. They were talking one day about what he was going to do and he jokingly said maybe I should start growing medical marijuana, she perked up and told him if you really wanted to do that I have the guy you need to talk to. They called me the next day and the ball started rolling. He is the money man, she is the "organizer" and I'm the grower. I had been so miserable at the job i had been working for years and my father just passed away, it made me realize that life was way to short to be miserable so I jumped in head first. Quit my job, sold everything that I couldn't pack and ship and moved myself and my two sons back to Montana. I feel like my life is re-energized and as corny as it sounds now has a purpose other than providing for my sons.

Don't think twice......move out to Montana. It really is the last best place. And btw.........look me up the clones are free ;)

Too fucking kind. Like I said, I will keep in touch with you and possibly meet up once I get out there. Also, I want to hear your jams. I live in a city right now where there is constantly good, live music every single night of the week. I'm hoping once I get out to Montana I can find some good local bluegrass, or jam, or electronic artists to check out. I'm a total live music junkie...through and through. I've spent more money traveling this country, following bands than I'd care to calculate.

With less than 4 people per square mile in Montana, I'm excited to get out into the wilderness and explore the nature without running into people left and right. I love nature, and want to be immersed in it, rather than immersed in flocks of people destroying mother nature. Either way, I digress, back to your awesome grow...

Auzzie,

I have worked in broadcast and AV systems design and integration mostly. I was a freelance engineer working for several large sales and integration firms but the economy has affected them to the point that they have a hard time keeping their staff engineers busy so they weren't needing to hire subcontractors. So For about the last 18 months I took a job as Field Service Supervisor for a national digital signage network, hiring, training and firing installation techs, it sucked to say the least, I was making 1/3 the money I was making working for myself with 3 times the stress. That is why I jumped at this opportunity.....I was miserable. I like dealing with machines and plants not people so much :p People bitch way too much and are never happy, lol

Hey all

haven't updated in awhile, we had some problems with the girls early on, I left a friend to take care of things and I think he used softened water to water the girls.....they got a lil toasted. All is well now, I think the girlies are about 7-10 days behind where they could be but we didn't lose any except a couple clones that were on their death bed when we got em. Check em out

I have no choice but to veg for at least 3 more weeks as I won't be back home until then, I plan to do some LST on them and clone each plant prior to flipping so I can select the phenos I want for mommies. I have 30ish plants from seed aprox 5 of each strain.

So you moved from Florida to start a medical op in Montana?
Good luck DJ Greenthumb, You should get some Dr Greenthumb genetics! Or more DJ Short Genetics!

Since you don't have CO2 yets, check out the http://co2bags.com/
I'm going to be giving it a try myself soon. I've read a lot of good things about them. And they are easy to use.

I am moving back to Montana.....have family there. I have been trying to get back for years but I couldn't make a living in my line of work. This has given me an opportunity to go back. I would love to grow out some Dj Short Blue Moonshine or f-13.....and the True Blueberry looks like it has some wicked bag appeal. There are so many wicked strains Dr Greenthumb has I can't even begin to list what I like of his, lol. I have some Sannie beans on the way as well, Herijuana, Jackberry F3 and El Monstro freebies, probably pop a few of those when I get back, they are regular seeds so I may keep a couple males offsite for some pollen chucking experiments.

Keep me updated on the CO2 bags please, I am thinking of going with bottled CO2 but I am open to that as well

Is your handle "DJ Greenthumb" an homage to those two breeders? They happen to be my two favorite as well.
I HAVE to HAVE to get Dr Greenthumbs Matanuska Thunderfuck.
And as for DJ Short... I just need everything he has. Mainly Grape Krush and F-13.

I'm hoping one day to have my own medical operation as well.

My plan is to use a few deep water culture buckets on mother plants, just to accelerate the growth for taking cuttings. The mothers will stay in their deep water cultures pretty much forever. I plan on Air Layering the mothers as well once the bottoms have become bare from cuttings. http://www.extension.iastate.edu/Publications/PM268.pdf

Someone said that Airlayering could possibly be a way to root clones while they are still attached to the mother, without increasing your plant count. If plant count becomes an issue for you that is.

I am definitly a fan of both anhave much respect but my handle isn't really a a homage. I have been a house, liquid funk and DnB Dj for many years and it just felt right, lol. I actually use the name DJ ADHD when I gig...... I was diagnosed with ADHD at a young age and as an adult is what first triggered my interest in cannabis as medicine. That is a discussion for another thread :p.

That airlayering technique is very interesting because keeping mothers really does cut into plant count. I have a bit of room tho because I have a few light smokers that went ahead and got a card and registered me as thier caregiver just for additional plant count.

My uncle used to be a fishing boat chef in Alaska and when he found out what I was doing Manatuska Thunder Fuck what the first thing that came out of his mouth, lol There is a caregiver in Bozeman montana that has an orginal cut of it.....gonna take a trip and see if I can't get my hands on a cut. There are actually quite a few elite cuts going around MT, Arcata Trainwreck, Green Crack, Manatuska ThunderFuck, Trinity, several OG Kush phenos.....etc

View attachment 1252237Word. Another time maybe.

I'm having trouble finding the youtube video for airlayering weed plants. It's from some place in europe or something, but it's posted on here somewhere. Ill link when I find it again.

Another really crazy technique that I've seen done on here is Grafting. There is a youtube video for that too. Taking place in some headshop in amsterdam with multiple strains grafted to one plant.

If you have ever seen a "Fruit Salad" tree, a tree with multiple fruits growing on the different branches... It's what they do to do that.

I have grafted a weed plant to another weed plant of the same strain before. Only strain I had going, but the principle is the same. I practice all kinds of these techniques.

What I see most useful for grafting, is to have a cutting make the most use out of an already established root structure.

You will probably come up with crazy ideas to utilize those two techniques.
