Thanks bro. If it wasn't for alot of you, I might not have even gone. But it was a good day, and I'm glad I got to share it with her.

Ok, so now we gotta figure out what to do about a son that posts that his mom is a douche right before Mother's day, and almost ditches out on her, when she was just sweet as pie when the ungrateful wretch decided to show up after all.

Seriously dude, you should do something unexpectedly cool for her, just because you love her. It will make her feel good, and it will help work off some of those negative karma points you just racked up.

You guys have to understand killing my mother with kindness does not work. She'll think I came to make her happy and not because I wanted too. She'll trivialize the whole day. So if I do go...I'm almost guaranteed an hour or so of tension.
Only an hour? Seriously, I feel for you, but I could write the book.......damn, the series.

I agree with you that nobody deserves a mind-fucking for doing the right thing.

If BG intends to go see his Mom, I support that decision. However, he should have a ready-made list of non-confrontational responses for Mommy Dearest when she starts handing out the guilt. Moreover, he should be prepared to scram as soon as she makes it clear she is not interested in enjoying the visit.

"You're not enjoying your day Mom. That saddens that we cannot enjoy our time together today. I'll go now. Happy Mother's Day." Perfunctory peck on the cheek. Then get in the car and drive, preferably to an old friend's house who has a fat blunt and a six pack of cold beer waiting.
Perfected, HEALTHY advice JohnnyO.

Just go she says that now but she will be happy to see you. Women are all like that....they are just dumb. My mom was the same way. I couldn't call her everyday, sometimes a week would go by and she would get pissed off. I was working like 70 hours a week....what did she expect? I was only home to sleep and then get back to work.
Women are all like that....they are just dumb.
Really now?

My mom and I haven't always had the best relationship. She was on drugs for much of my childhood until she finally couldn't take care of me any longer and I went to live with my father at the age of 11. She wasn't in my life in any substantive way for another 5-6 years. She was pretty good to me as an adult but there was still some bad blood there. I made peace with her a few years back and I'm glad I did. In the Fall of 2006 she died in an accident. Holding grudges can eat away at your soul like a cancer. I'm grateful that I don't have that on my conscience. To the original poster, I think you'll be grateful too some day. Happy Mothers Day, all.
Wow, takes a real man to take in so much at such a young age and find within himself the virtue of forgiveness. I wholeheartedly agree that being resentful does nothing more than to kill the soul......so glad to hear that you not only survived, but surpassed. :peace:
