You need to go. After all, its mothers day and you havent been there for 2 years. Just ignore her remarks, she'll appreciate it whether she shows it or not and you'll feel better afterwards.

^what makes you think he took the picture?
weather he took it or not its a stupid pic. im all for firearm education at an early age, but thats just plain ignorant. its quite obvious that whoever took that shot took it because they thought it looked cool and or cute. its my opinion that that picture shows what an irresponsible parent and gun owner the photographer is.

and i dont care if its a photobucket pic. the guy who has it as his avatar is a supreme douche....he beats BG's mom by a landslide.

and biggravy, sorry for the jack and sorry for the mama-hardships. just remember, yoou cant pick your family...but you do have to deal with them.

You guys have to understand killing my mother with kindness does not work. She'll think I came to make her happy and not because I wanted too. She'll trivialize the whole day. So if I do go...I'm almost guaranteed an hour or so of tension.
she's the only mom you got,,,,one hour of tension could easily be cured with a big dooby before you get there

turn up late and make some story up so it sounds like a huge effort went in to be there!!

on one hand, im inclined to agree with the above statements. then again, no one deserves to be mind-fucked. and it sounds like youll lose either way.

send her a mediocre card that simply says, "I Love You, I wish things were different." let her draw her own conclusions.

I agree with you that nobody deserves a mind-fucking for doing the right thing.

If BG intends to go see his Mom, I support that decision. However, he should have a ready-made list of non-confrontational responses for Mommy Dearest when she starts handing out the guilt. Moreover, he should be prepared to scram as soon as she makes it clear she is not interested in enjoying the visit.

"You're not enjoying your day Mom. That saddens that we cannot enjoy our time together today. I'll go now. Happy Mother's Day." Perfunctory peck on the cheek. Then get in the car and drive, preferably to an old friend's house who has a fat blunt and a six pack of cold beer waiting.

Theres a lot wrong with that.
I developed serious depression in my late teenage years because of the way my father manipulated me and made me feel like it was my fault he wasn't a part of my life........That shit hurts man
I don't care who you are, your parents know where to hit you deep and they will use it.

I know I was better off without his influence. I mean that was years ago.
He stayed a part of my brothers life and he turned out a 3 time college drop out with a minimum wage job 20,000 in debt.

I have my shit together unlike him.

BigGravy I think you should go....

The reason I say this is well, because yeah your mom is acting like an ass by saying stuff like that, but how much better does that make you if you sink to her level of loathing and self pity? You say you want to change and not be like them and what not, so don't lower yourself and be like them. My mother and I haven't had the best relationship, there were a lot of things she did wrong to me, but I don't or have ever lowered myself to her level. I've always been the one to put the good foot forward and although it did hurt a lot sometimes doing that, I find the resentment isn't as hard as it would be if I lowered myself to her level.

If you want to be the one to change from your parents, don't go about it lowering yourself to their level, because once you're at their level you'll be able to see eye to eye with them.

Hope you sort this out dude, and I'm sorry that you're mother hurt you like that.
