i hear you, takes 3 generations to get the trait completely breed in.

what flavor autos is your friend interested in?

probably be good to start with a strong strain :bigjoint:
I forget the ratios getaway cited for how many of the f1's auto flowered, but he would grow out all the seeds from the first cross. Then pick the ones that auto flowered to breed.

Flavor? I've been smoking rotten stinking bastard when I want a break from shit/skunk. What's flavor got to do with anything. {that, and the fact I know jack about autos}

Daddy does need to be strong. Although from what I hear, the head on autos is getting better.

here is what i found in my research. think this is pretty accurate, i'm gonna find out...

1. cross an auto with a photoperiod. the F1's will contain no autos.
2. cross the F1's. the F2's will contain 25% autos.
3. cross the autos from the F2 generation. the F3's will be 100% autos
4. for even more stability, backcross an F3 female to F2 pollen. The F4's traits will get more consistent.

this illustration shows how it goes. AA = photo plant and aa = auto plant. 3 breeding generations

I was thinking getaway mountain got something like 20% autos from the f1's. But it was a couple of years ago when I was reading his thread, so maybe not. He would be a good one to talk to. He's done lots of work making "short season" strains. He can get his to stay in veg with long light hours {20+}, but they will flower as soon as they go out in natural light hours.

most of what i know on the semi-auto's is they will start flowering with 18/6, but not 24. got more to learn on the subject for sure. thanks for the headsup on getaway mountain, will check that thread out.

well, i had no luck with the LMI and its little tail. 3 of the Black Domina x Hindu Kush stuck a little tail out also, but just stopped there. nothing on the purple nepal.

so the above mentioned beans get tossed outside into the planter.

the next 3 seed combo theme is AUTOS. these seeds will come out of the old collection to get scuffed and dropped into GA3 solution this afternoon.

Buzzy Body - After Thought Autos
Manitoba Medicine - SF THC 123
Tokarev - After Thought Autos

I have never ran autos. This interests me.

ok, fingers crossed. just put the 3 autos in paper towels after a 24 hour 250 ppm GA3 solution soak. i had two manitoba medicines with tails showing. those were carefully put in rockwool in hope of success...

I breed autos x photos. I've been doing it for about 3 years now. First cross of a photo male and auto female will give you over 90 percent of plants that will flower during the summer . 10 percent will just keep on vegging until late summer.
But if you cross those plants over each other then the next generation will not flower through summer.
I still have a couple out bush. I'll havt to take some pics on the weekend.

well so no movement on the autos. will give them until tonight, when they will be placed outside in a planter in hopes they germinate some day.

the next group of seeds will be pure sativa's. will take them out of the fridge, scuff and drop into a GA3 solution later this evening.
