thats a good idea, bfq.I will have to do that, when I have more than 6 females
yeah, at first it isnt a big deal... but right now i have 10 plants in flower, 2 mothers and a butt load of clones going... i harvest 2-4 plants at a time... and three strains going at the moment... it gets chaotic quickly ;)

whys that?
because you dont have the lights to handle a big plant... long vegging time makes for bigger plants.

bigger plants sound good except the envirolight doesnt have the penetration... so you will wind up with a big and whispy plant instead of a smaller, tight nugged plant.

i grow mine under a ScrOG and keep my plants small and short and am getting over a half ounce of dry from my plants on average... not a whole lot, but if you keep in mind they are not 8 inches tall and about 12 inches around.... ;)

the ones i grew to almost 3 foot (using ALL my vertical space) yielded about 7 grams... keeping em short and wide with my lights sitting RIGHT on them makes a larger yield than growing bigger plants.

from seedling i veg for 16 days. from clone, i dont veg at all. :joint:

i think Scott's bought MG out... 6 of 1, half dozen of the other ;)

if you use a soil like that be sure to cut it will plain (no nutes) perlite to prevent burning.

i start all my seedlings in cups like that so they take less space and waste less soil if they get culled... they grow for me in those for about a month... but some growers do them for longer like that and some for less time... watch for root bound conditions.

the MG and Scott's soil both have nutes in them... you will see a "Guaranteed Analysis" statement on the packaging... more and more manufacturers are sneaking the same kind of crap into what should be inert substances like perlite and vermiculite... adding the two together makes for a toxic level of nutes so you want to make sure your perlite doesnt contain any.

and by cut it, i just mean mix it.. 80% soil/20% perlite.

oh, root bound signs...

the plant stops growing above the soil for a long period of time and/or you see the roots coming out the holes in the bottom of the cup A LOT.

My soil came from walmart too,but I wouldn't recommend it...I will tell ya why....GNATS....thats the only bugs I have found in 3 months.
If you are gonna try and buy nutes,go with fox farm soil...on a budget,Walmart, well, our choices are kinda limited there...expert gardener, miracle gro,and I think they carry scotts...If they do,scotts would be my choice for what you have in mind....you won't need nutes til flowering, and we can shop around and find something that meets your budget and still gets the job done....don't forget to keep an eye on the daily tips thread, got some great growers stopping by and leaving tips...you will get good info from these guys
