My list of things I wish people told me when starting out.

I love to teach, unfortunately my teaching skillz are limited to my personal experience, and those personal experiences are not always the "best" ways....so if anyone comes across a better method then please by all means let me know so that I may update.

First off, Hydro is what I know and hydro is what I love to grow. I have recently started a few soil experiments side by side with my hydro. I’m curious to see if there really is a "better" bud, or taste for that matter.

So without further a-do here is my list in no particular order.

1) DO NOT by an aero garden!!!! They suck ass for growing pot and the end results (yield) is nowhere close to a true hydro set. I bought an AG and soon realized all the down falls. The rez is shaped like a half moon and the nutes tend to pool right in the middle of the rez and that burns the shit out of your plants. The light is strong enough to grow a plant, but it is not even close to as good as something as little as a 150w MH. And if you get a 400w MH/HPS you will spend about $100 more and about 1000X's better product.
I now use my areo garden for clones and mother plants only.....I have a $150 clone chamber when I could have a $25 chamber with some cfls instead that works just as well and hold more than 7 plants.

2) Use the good nutes. I don’t care what nutes you use, just make sure they are high quality. I personally use fox farm all the way thru with some Advanced Bud Blood and Sweet toward the end to fatten up the bud.
Nute should run you $13-$20 a liter for the good to best nutes on the market. BUT.....if you go to a hydro shop and speak with someone face to face you may have a better chance of getting a better price. (Ex...If you see dust on the top of the bottle cuz it’s been on the shelf awhile, ask if you buy one can you get the other half off). Trust me on this; I do shit like this ALL the time. There is only one of two answers you will get, they will laugh you off like you were joking....or you get the shit half off.

If you plan on using Miracle grow that’s fine....just don’t tell anyone on here cuz we will laugh at you, and then your plants will die....true story.

3) When building a DYI hydro system it should cost no more than $30(not including the fans and nutes) When you walk into Home depot think (McGyver) Walmart sells 10g buckets for $5, home depot sells all your garden and irrigation hoses for around $10 (for all of them)

4) A water pump should only run about $15-$20 at any Wal-Mart. The pumps at home depot are for the large outdoor waterfalls and kio fish ponds....don’t use those, go to Wal-Mart for the smaller ones.

This is all I have for now....I rolled a j when I started this and now its gone....time to enjoy the gift from god.....I shall return later.

I truly hope this has helped some new members save some cash that can be well spent on great strains from a seed bank.

I hope you don't mind me chiming in, but I had to agree with you 100% on everything you said! I have never grown a thing and when I see people using an aerogarden I laugh my ass off. I guess some people have no creativity at all. Before I even read your post I went to Walmart and picked up a couple of Totes, airpumps, airstones and a couple water pumps and next I went to Homedepot and picked up all my line and T fittings and a couple shut off valves. All together I have spent $160 and I have four DWC Hydroponics systems (I'm going SOG so I need a few more things than someone going veg/flower) Post more stuff man, roll another jilla and bust out some teaching. Thanks for confirming my beliefs!

I have seen some kick ass aero grows, trust me, they can be just as efficiant as hydro and soil. Maybe aero isnt you thing.

I dont think hes trying to knock on areogarden users, just saying their is a much cheaper and more effective way to grow cannabis.

I like my aero garden also......but i could have paid $150 for a 400w hps, hydro setup and a clone chamber. Instead i have a aero garden with flo lights and a small rez that holds 2 full grown plants.

There are better ways was my point.

Sorry to offend.
