The top container turned upside down with a electric cord run into the top center,, is that a light? If so what kind and do you run it continuously?? yes it is a light fixture built into the top, 100 watt cfl, you can get everything you need at walmart and lowes.

How long is it taking to get good root growth with just water?
should the temp be 75 to 85f under the light container and about 12hr's a day of light?

It takes me about 14 days to get roots ready for soil, thats with just water. Im sure if you did add clone x solution you would have faster results. My temps stay around 75. I dont mist them or anything, just leave the pump running 24/7, some strains are different and may take longer or come sooner.

i built the same machine, except added 2" net pots and rockwool for added root growth. Love this idea, so easy and yet works so well.

Hey dude, u dont keep them in rockwool if u use a machien, thats why ur not getting good results. U have to fill the holes with neoprene, google the word neoprene ez cloner and u will see what im talking about. Cant use rockwool with the machine, just thought i would let u kno man.

As far as the neoprene goes, you can go to your local Mao*Mart and get anything made of that material......... garden kneeling pads are pretty inexpensive, as are "pool noodles" - cut to size, and you're good to go. Those EZ-Clone neoprene collars do work well, and I've purchased them before, but for the premium you pay, they're not worth it. Save 90% and DIY.

I am only familiar with Celcius, so go and Google a conversion calculator for the temps that I mention.
Water Temp:
You will want to run whatever style of Water Cloner (mine happens to be a bubble cloner with pool noodle inserts) between 24-28 Celcius
At higher temps the cuttings will root faster, but increase your risk of algae and root rot.
At lower temperatures, obviously your cuttings will root slower.
Pending on how cold or hot your winters and summers are, temps can be adjusted by a 25watt aquarium heater to bring the temps up, and if you want to lower your temps, freeze a 600mL PET Coke bottle of water and place in your water bath (keep a couple frozen to swap around)
****Just a quick note, buy one of those cheap ass digital aquarium thermostats on eBay and use that to monitor your water temps.
Air Temp:
20 - 30 Celcius is ideal.
Lighting:
Clones don't require massive amount of light like mature plants, as their energy is focusing on building roots. 10 watts per square foot is sufficient.
Nutes:
Only water is sufficient as their are no roots to soak up the nutes. This doesn't mean you can't add a weak grow or rhizome nute to the water to be there for when the first roots appear and have their food ready. But, at end of the day you only really need water until roots appear, and then you want a very weak strength grow/vegging nute to start with.
BTW, that's a ripper cloner you have there. I, myself use a bubble cloner made from plastic tub, cut pool noodle, aquarium heater, digi thermostat and dual outlet aquarium air pump, and keep them under red and blue LED panels. Oh and almost forgot, I painted shit loads of black paint on the plastic tub to reduce the light to prevent algae growth.

That pH meter you got in 2 of those pics. Is that a Rapitest meter? I bought one that looks just like it and when i read the papers with it, it said it's for soil and do not put probe in water. Does yours work in water? I hadn't tried mine after reading that.
i made one as well had no so much luck heres the one i built i will some other time try yet again with a water heater this time) i like old school soil cloneing
you really need to run a humidity dome some people are lucky and dont have to but the room i clone in the humidity is too low.
i just use 2l coke bottles with the bottom cut off and put over the clones.
you can use any size but i run big net pots so 2l works for me! hope this helps mate!

how would hydrogen peroxide work on clones? i know that keeps algae growth down, but i wonder how it would effect clones.
