My grow 2.5, 400 watt hempy scrog, Big Bud x Northern Lights, OG Kush, and Bubba 76

Yeah I've had those pictures setting on my desk top for quite a while now, i don't know why but i just didn't think about how much of a difference those numbers could make on my yield, 6 inches doesn't seem like a lot when your only a foot away with such a bright light, but it apparently is lol.

Notice that none, no matter what the wattage is, goes under 5000 lumens. That is optimum per sq/ft. You can run it lower but expect a hugh difference in final yield/health. Think it also works out to 50watts per sq/ft, or something close to that. I'm to tired atm to look the page up, but if you're interested, I will hunt it down later. I think a 600 is actually rated for a 3x3 but because I have my walls in close it helps my lumen count from the amount that is reflected back into the grow. Hence why i recommended you use mylar r something similar to help reflect everything back into your plants. You wouldn't think it would be that much of a difference, but it is. Peace!!

I see thanks for the info man that is some very valuable information, according to those charts i was running at about 11.5 to 10k lumens, i was keeping my reflector at about 12-13 inch's and i just realized that didn't include the distance from my reflector to the bulb which is probably about 2 inches so i was probably setting at about 14-15 inches from bulb to canopy, in those 9-10 inches from where i was to where i should have been i lost 5x the amount of light that my plants regularly received.

I really cant wait to see how my grow performs this time around now that its optimized, I'm going to keep my hood right up on them, I'm pretty pleased with the way my remodeling came out now all I'm missing is c02 and one of those raptor air cooled reflectors and I'm set.

Well my 2 seedlings the Veneno and the Burmese Kush broke ground so i decided to throw them in the mini hempys, the blueberry gum still hasn't popped but i can see the seed cracked a bit and i can see some white tap root, I'm not sure what its doing but its sure being slow about it...

They are tiny but its nice to finally have some pictures of growing plants in my grow journal again...

Hmm so its its been 4 or 5 days since i started germinating these seeds and im starting to become concerned about the blueberry gum, several days ago i saw that the blueberry gum seed was cracked and that i could see what i believed to be tap root inside but since then i don't think it has done anything, i have 2 more seeds left i have critical automatic which as the name suggest is an auto flowering plant and i have moby dick which grows to be 9 foot tall according to the growing profile. I really don't know what to do almost every seed i have germinated has popped with in 1-2 days and this seed has taken quite a long time, i believe i have read that some seeds can take quite a while to germ but would i want a plant with so little vigor, what do you guys think does the germ time reflect upon the vigor of the future plant? I'm really not sure whether i should wait this thing out or pop my auto so any advice would be appreciated...

Yea I would have issues if the seed cracked and still took a few days for the tap root to come out. End of the day tho te decision lays on your shoulders

So i broke out some needles and decided to try and help the seedling out of its shell i got it open but i unfortunately damaged the tap root getting the very last of the shell off, I'm not sure what was wrong with it but i believe the seedling was already fucked, when i decided to help the seedling i figured maybe the shell was stuck on to tight or something but once i started messing with it i realized that the shell was pretty soft, on the inside of the shell was the seedling curled up in a ball with the 2 cotyledons it looked reasonably healthy it was all white I'm assuming because it hadn't really been in contact with oxygen but it didn't look like it had grown one bit in the 5+ days I've been germinating it so it doesn't seem like to much of a loss to me. I just started germinating the last viable seed its an auto so its not exactly ideal but it will work i suppose.

So i just got on attitude to see if my seeds were in stock and of course most of them are not but i did see that they are having there birthday sale in 3 days so that's some pretty good timing, 1 day after i start germinating my last usable seed i find that attitude is having there massive sale in which they give away lots of freebees, i really want to get some of serious seeds white russian, ak-47 and chronic but they are never in stock, I'm half tempted to order a large pack of white russian because the last one was so good but i would like more variety than that. Ether way i suppose it will be a hell of a lot of seeds for a decent price i'm just not sure what to get does anyone have any suggestions?

My critical + automatic popped today so i soaked some rock wool and put it in under the humidity dome it shouldn't be long and i should have my 3rd seedling, i sure am glad to have had something growing but i hate the seedling stage it takes so long and there is so little growth ><, I'm really looking forward to the day i start fertilizing and turn on my HID.

The critical + automatic broke the surface today so i transplanted it into the last solo cup hempy that needed to be filled, i guess all there is to do now is keep watering and waiting until i get out of the seedling stage, i am planning on up-sizing my containers 2 times during this grow I'm going to go from solo cup to 2 liter bottles at 2-4 weeks and then eventually go from the 2 liters to my 5 gallon buckets, i was thinking i was going to wait until the 5th node to start fertilizing but i think i might go for 1/2 strength dose of ferts once they get some decent vegetative growth going on.

Thanks for taking a look and subing to my grow man, an extra persons perspective is always appreciated, and yeah i know it was worth it to spend the time and money upgrading my room, its a bit hard after sinking all that time, effort and money into the room to have 4 plants up and die on you, but hey that is mostly my fault i really should have looked in to hydro germinating more and i probably would have saved my seedlings, ether way I'm just glad I've got something going right now...

No probs.I'm gonna learn a lot from your experiences and besides I found reading your journals very enjoyable.
My own grow space is similiar in size to your own and I am encountering some of the same issues but I haven't got the lee-way to adapt as much as you did,I need to keep it super stealthy cos no one in the house can know.I have a brand new dimmable ballast with settings from 250w-660w and it runs both HPS and MH but because of venting and temp issues I'll veg on 250w MH and flower on 250 HPS and maybe if possible bump up to 400 fo the last few weeks,that said it's gonna be another few weeks before I even germ,I have 5x Barney's farm LSD,2 each of white russian and Himalayan gold x white widow and 1 blueberry cheese(all fem) so still deciding on what two to germ,anywas thinking of two of the same seeds and do a hempy and soil side by side for comparison.Right that's enough about me and I'll be watching with extreme interest.

I'm glad to hear that i may be helping you to sort out your issues, i probably don't have to be as stealth as i am being, but in my opinion you can never be to safe when it comes to issues that involve so much time in prison... I only recently started growing but i have been reading for years so if you have any problems or concerns feel free to voice them and i will address them as best as i can, i may not have as much real world experience as i would like but i have very large amounts of theoretical knowledge stored inside my brain... As far as seed selection goes if those are serious seeds white Russian i would definitely recommend them, the white russian i grew on my first run was a stout mother fucker it didn't flinch under any amount of pressure put on them by my noobness, it managed to to yield 3.5 oz with the light 15 inches away and having half of its light foot print taken away by my crappy blue cheese pheno...

I am not sure why you are limiting your self to 250 but I'm sure you could get away with a 400 on your light bill with out anyone noticing, I'm guessing though that the issue is ventilation if it is ventilation and you have any options just let me know I'm pretty good at working things out and i would be more than happy to help you figure things out... Cutting holes in your walls is not nearly as daunting as you think it might be, i had reservations about doing it in my grow room for weeks if not months and once i did it i realized i was no where near as complicated as i thought it would be, i can also rest at ease now that I've done it because i don't have to worry about my neighbors smelling my plants before i do...

I'm pretty much the same as yourself with regard to experience,I grew PPP 5x fem some time back and made a lot of mistakes so the end result was not as it could/should.
I know I will do better this time though.
The seeds except for Barney's are pick and mix from justfeminized.com and I think they are just a generic copy but they have some good reviews but time will tell.
You're right,I'm gonna run the 250w mainly because of ventilation issues,I ran a 400w before and the heat from them is crazy.Similar to you I would have to vent into the attic and doing that and staying 100% stealth may not be possible.I'll try and upload a pic to give you an idea,that's if you don't mind.

Eh im so pissed off when i went to place my attitude order last night i ran into some issues with sage pay and by that point i had been drinking for about 12 hours so in no way was i in any condition to deal with them, so i passed out and when i woke up this morning i found that more than half my seeds are out of stock, I'm not really surprised, just annoyed as fuck...

Just go with another seedbank,there's cheaper banks to buy from than attitude.

Ahh ill have to have a look around the main reason i was buying from them was because i could get pick n mix serious seeds and because they offered gurenteed shipping, im not sure that it would cover me if my seeds were to get siezed though as the wording of there gurentee is kinda sketchy, sorry to hear about the job man ive been in that situation before its not very fun, your closet doors look like a light proofing nightmare lol.
