great harvest bro
Thanks for the comment!! This herb is sick . I'll be rooting for Sub's Vortex entry to win the CannabisCup in Nov. If anyone was still waiting for dried bud pics, sorry. Not sure if i'll even be able to get any before I smoke it all. These little seed plants didn't yield much and I've been hurting for meds so Im going thru it quick! Clones of each plant are 5 days into flower now...so I'll probably come back and update the thread with info and pics on how these clones run. I also stuck a gram of Vortex pheno#1 away for a cure that is at least 4-5 weeks. I'll def. give a smoke report on that.:joint:

On a different note, I had my 1st sample of Pandora's Box this past weekend. Holy crap Subcool that one is freaking great. Those are my next seeds for sure. The potency took me by surprise everytime I puffed it. Thanks again for doing what you do Subcool and TGA, your work is much appreciated!!

Thanks for the comment TCurtiss! I had a good time this morning checking out all the pics that you linked...thanks for that! All really great, I always enjoy shots of your vegetable garden, with those awesome stealthy plants. Also enjoyed seeing pics of the expo last weekend, and I must say that your SuperSoil preparation pictures motivated me to go out and find some of the ingredients I still need to whip up my first batch. Took me several stores and lots of driving...but now all I need is Azomite and Humic Acid.

As far as the Vortex smell. The plant I called Pheno#2 had such an intense mango/cherry smell, it shocked me every time I smelled it. As they cured up a little while I was consuming them, all of the phenotypes gained more of a similar smell of pukey/rotten mango...and the subtle differences during flowering were harder to distinguish. The Pheno#1 is my fav though...the pukey/rotting aspect is so strong and just hits my sweet spot. Thanks again and have a great Sunday!

Hey folks,
Whats up. Hope that all of your days are going good and (outdoor) harvest season is treating everyone wonderfully.
So.....as promised I am back with a picture of the gram of Vortex#1 I stuck away, as well as a little report on how it smoked. My apology for the bad-quality picture. It is all I was able to get for yall before I smoked those little gems.

Upon opening the little jar it was curing in...I was smacked with a pukey, mango smell (as expected...). But now it has gained even more "softness" in the smell. Not sure how to describe that "softness"...but in my mind it is just a smell that forshadows how potent it is going to be. The high seemed more trippy this time and I got SUPER ripped of of one little pipe bowl. The flavor was lip-smacking and it just has that taste of crazy-potency. The high was spectacular. Seemed more "up" and trippy this time....with a very happy feeling of creativity and motivation. I am dying to take a fair amount of this herb up to the mountains this winter for a couple nights in a snowy-cabin. Someone else on RIU mentioned they wanted to be high on Vortex while in the beautiful snowy-mountains and I agree fully. I can't wait to bring the clone plants down as the resin and smell are even better than the seed plants.:leaf: Thanks TGA.

Nice grow report, harvest, and smoke report, b! Thanks for taking the time. I wasn't able to get Vortex, the attitude was out
when I ordered. I did, however, get some 3D, which was my second choice. I too have a 1/2batch of SS that baked All summer.
I hope to have the same success. If you've had it(3D), let me know your thoughts. ATB!
side note: if you haven't located the Azomite or Humic yet, they are both online, Cheap! Hope that helps...

Yeah, growing the seeds, and then doing the selection on these plants has been such a fun process that I almost think it would be boring to get a 10 pack that showed all the same pheno's. I am very excited for doing the same kind of run (5 seeds) that I did here...but with Pandora's Box...or perhaps SpaceJill...or maybe JTR....:)
i agree completly... its fun checkin out all of the gentic variation.... great and very informative thread man....

Thanks for the comments everyone. I really do appreciate the feeback everytime.

King of Queen- While the plants were slightly different in many ways...the end product of 3 of the females was pretty darn similar. Probably undetectable in a blindtaste to most people. They all shared that rotten mango aspect as a main trait. Also..as nathenking mentioned..seeing the slight differences and picking your favorite is super fun!

SupaM- My pleasure, I had a lot of fun doing the thread.Yeah, I am lucky in the fact that I can go buy TGA seeds from multiple dispensaries here in Colorado...and if you search through enough of them, you will be able to find the strain you desire. Thats how I got my Vortex 10 pack. 3D is actually one TGA strain I havent had the pleasure of tasting yet.. but I am basically on the constant look out for any TGA gear for sale at a Dispensary. And yeah! Found the Azomite and Humic acid so I am on my way. Thanks!

nathenking- I recently gave my wife the new TGA catalog and said "here you pick the next 10 pack of seeds on the list" (I already have JTR or Pandora for the next pick...cant make up my mind).....and she picked AO . Once I show her your thread she will be sold for sure!!

Sorry to ramble off a long message..but I think what I have going on right now is pretty interesting (I plan to update the thread with it all). Right now I have the first clone run off of the seed plants at day#29 in flower. The thing I think is cool is my situation is almost exactly as Subcool's article on the Void Im sure we have all read. The plants are growing the exact same way the seed plants did, except for the fact that the grow room is about 10 degrees cooler than it was last run and the plants vegged for a slightly longer period. I thought it would be cool to see and document the differences between seed plants and their first clone generation, as well as cooler temps and longer veg time.

Everyone have a great weekend! bongsmilie

1st off,
Hello all and hope that life has been treating all great lately. I wish everyone Happy holidays complete with good times with friends and family. So I should have been more wise and forseen the lack of time I would have during my last harvest due to a move that I made. I had fully intended on documenting the harvest and showing differences that the plants had in being a 1st generation clone vs. seed and also the differences of cooler growroom temps and I just didn't get it done.
So I am back now with a few pics of the dried buds and a little recap of how things went:
The plants blew me away again with the ease of growth, resin production, speed of maturity, and amazing smells. The clones did seem to ripen a few days earlier (around 55 days they all looked done....however I don't use/own a scope to look at trichomes) but I ended up harvesting at day 60. The later harvest time was actually very noticable in the final product in comparison to the seed plants that were harvested at day 58. The high of all phenotypes this time started very heady and "up"..but a comfortable warm sleepyness would set in after that. The flavor on two of them definately changed a little, and the individual characters of those two were easier to distinguish.
The Phenotype I had originally called Vortex#2 has now earned the name "Christmas Spice Vortex" due to the fact that the clone run of this pheno had even more of the "haze" smell in the air while burning and even the buds smell of rotting cherries, mangoes, and haze. I really, really love the aroma and smell of this pheno and I have decided to keep running it in my room.
The phenotype I had called Vortex#1 has now earned the name "SkunkPoo Vortex" and it is easy to see why I named it that if you smell it. Straight rotting fruit, pukey funk. I have a few friends that think it is too strong, but I really, really love it. This is the phenotype that I think will be with me for a long time (I hope). The skunky aspect of the clone run was more intense than the seed plant and the mango is more of an undertone with the poop/puke/skunk taking main stage.
The phenotype Vortex#3 has been culled from the garden after the last harvest. The herb was good, just not as resinous as the other two and the smell/taste was just not as intense as I like. The plant also didn't really shine much in the clone run vs. seed. No differences that I could tell in the final product. Still great herb though and patients I shared it with enjoyed it very much. Just not DANK enough to keep running.
Another noticable difference in the second run, was that the leaves were MUCH more coated in resin than the seed plants. I don't know if the cooler temps had a factor in this, but the little leaves were suger coated and doing that great resin "taco" curl. I ended up making some EarWax from the sugar trim that was some of the best I've ever had. It REEKED like the vortex itself and was insanely potent.
Anyways, there is my little report and I plan on growing nothing but Vortex for a while longer until I start my next TGA seeds. One other thing I must report is the amount of medicinal value this strain has pertaining to increasing appetite. Smoke some Vortex, and my stomach starts growling.
Thanks again TGA for the work you are doing. I don't just view you as my favorite seed company, but as truely a foundation and source of inspiration for a better and
healthier quality of life.

1st pic is SkunkPoo, next two are Christmas Spice.:joint: Take care everyone!

God, i need to find that pukey pheno!
I have never smoked Apollo 13 or Apollo 13 BX....but I think that the "SkunkPoo" pheno I have is very Apollo dominant. It doesnt stretch much at all (I recently heared Sub say his Apollo 13 Momma doesn't have much stretch in a Youtube vid...) and the "poo" smell that I have heared is so strong in Apollo comes through in this Vortex but with the added extra rotting fruit aspect from Spacedude.

Ya know in Book of Dank when Sub describes the Genius sample and how for months after the container still smelled like Genius?
Well, that is what my "SkunkPoo" Vortex cut is doing. I smelled a jar that has been empty for weeks now and it still REEKED of that awesome pukey funk!! So maybe it is not only Apollo dominant but there is a strong influence from Grandma Genius coming through?
Hope everyone has a superb weekend-
