1st off,
Hello all and hope that life has been treating all great lately. I wish everyone Happy holidays complete with good times with friends and family. So I should have been more wise and forseen the lack of time I would have during my last harvest due to a move that I made. I had fully intended on documenting the harvest and showing differences that the plants had in being a 1st generation clone vs. seed and also the differences of cooler growroom temps and I just didn't get it done.
So I am back now with a few pics of the dried buds and a little recap of how things went:
The plants blew me away again with the ease of growth, resin production, speed of maturity, and amazing smells. The clones did seem to ripen a few days earlier (around 55 days they all looked done....however I don't use/own a scope to look at trichomes) but I ended up harvesting at day 60. The later harvest time was actually very noticable in the final product in comparison to the seed plants that were harvested at day 58. The high of all phenotypes this time started very heady and "up"..but a comfortable warm sleepyness would set in after that. The flavor on two of them definately changed a little, and the individual characters of those two were easier to distinguish.
The Phenotype I had originally called Vortex#2 has now earned the name "Christmas Spice Vortex" due to the fact that the clone run of this pheno had even more of the "haze" smell in the air while burning and even the buds smell of rotting cherries, mangoes, and haze. I really, really love the aroma and smell of this pheno and I have decided to keep running it in my room.
The phenotype I had called Vortex#1 has now earned the name "SkunkPoo Vortex" and it is easy to see why I named it that if you smell it. Straight rotting fruit, pukey funk. I have a few friends that think it is too strong, but I really, really love it. This is the phenotype that I think will be with me for a long time (I hope). The skunky aspect of the clone run was more intense than the seed plant and the mango is more of an undertone with the poop/puke/skunk taking main stage.
The phenotype Vortex#3 has been culled from the garden after the last harvest. The herb was good, just not as resinous as the other two and the smell/taste was just not as intense as I like. The plant also didn't really shine much in the clone run vs. seed. No differences that I could tell in the final product. Still great herb though and patients I shared it with enjoyed it very much. Just not DANK enough to keep running.
Another noticable difference in the second run, was that the leaves were MUCH more coated in resin than the seed plants. I don't know if the cooler temps had a factor in this, but the little leaves were suger coated and doing that great resin "taco" curl. I ended up making some EarWax from the sugar trim that was some of the best I've ever had. It REEKED like the vortex itself and was insanely potent.
Anyways, there is my little report and I plan on growing nothing but Vortex for a while longer until I start my next TGA seeds. One other thing I must report is the amount of medicinal value this strain has pertaining to increasing appetite. Smoke some Vortex, and my stomach starts growling.
Thanks again TGA for the work you are doing. I don't just view you as my favorite seed company, but as truely a foundation and source of inspiration for a better and
healthier quality of life.
1st pic is SkunkPoo, next two are Christmas Spice.
Take care everyone!
