Amateur breeding project

Hello everyone
I started growing weed years ago, but i had to stop everything for different reasons.
Now i' m back and i can grow as big as i want, with only two issues : high humidity and not enough air recycling.
I'm currently growing with 1800w on 3m2. Boys and girls are doing good despite the environmental issues, so i keep on doing my thing in confidence.

I already started breeding for fun, with different strain and i always had a great interest for the matter.
So I decided to start it seriously, and see where it takes me !


There will always be the same desired traits on each strain, always some that will be considered secondary.

Desired traits :
_STABILITY ! ^^
_Strong resin production
_At least a correct bud production
_Strong taste
_Strong effects

Secondary traits :
_Growing "difficulty" (resistance to diseases, big stretching, long flowering time, etc etc..)
_Smell (could be strong or weak, no matter)
_Bag appeal of the buds (could be dense or airy)
_Physical aspect of the growing plant

I will try to make two strains at first.

_One with deep, creamy, chocolatey taste combined with heavy red fruits notes. Night time strain, with consistent indica-leaning effects.
_One with strong citrussy taste and strong, psychedelic sativa effects. Daytime strain for artistic and social activities.


FIRST STRAIN :

I chose two strains to work on, mainly for their supposed tasting traits : Triple stuffed from Exotic genetix, and Cherrygasm from Subcool.

I saw and heard a lot of good things about Exotic stuff, particularly about cookies and cream and mint/triple chocolate chip. I thought i might find that deep sugary, creamy, chocolatey taste with a cross of these two strains.
And Cherrygasm because I was satisfied with the Subcool's strain I grew before (qleaner), plus the strain description fits nicely with the breeding project.

SubCool's The Dank Seeds Cherry Gasm Regular Marijuana Seeds

In order to obtain Cherrygasm, the sweet and sour Cherry Pie OG was introduced to Space Queen who is known for its cherry, lemon and candy flavours. The resulting hybrid has made for some very sticky, gooey resinous offspring. Near the end of flowering period you can expect some very resinous and gorgeous maroon, purple and black hues. You will notice 2 phenotypes. First one being OG dominant with tall lanky branches and dense resinous buds reeking of Sour Lemon's Cherry and Diesels. The other one being also tall but with slightly tighter spacing and spear shaped slightly looser buds that smell of Musky Cherry/Lemon Diesel. Cherrygasm is a very fast and easy to grow plant that should be topped and staked accordingly to support the weight of the buds once the flowering stage begins.

If the strains i chose first are not what i expected i might change them.
6/6 Triple stuffed seeds and 5/5 Cherrygasm popped. TS a few weeks before Cherrygasms.
TS are already flowering, since cherrygasms are still in the beginning of the growth cycle, so there won't be pollinisations on this run. I can still try other crosses for fun.
Every TS plant has been cloned, and i already harvested pollen (and pollinated females to get a bigger population).
i'll post a precise description of each plant with pics.



SECOND STRAIN :

For this one, there was an obvious strain i had to work on : Amnesia ! Started smoking this one years ago, when i was still a teenager, and kept smoking it years after years.
Love so much its chemical citrussy smell and taste, and its devastating sativa-dominant hybrid effects.
So it will be the base material for this breeding project.
Underground seeds collective have a really nice version of Amnesia in regular form ; already tried it but didn't kept any clones.
Cured buds had all the specs. of a real amnesia hypro cut. And more of that, seeds are pretty cheap : 22.50E for 10 seeds at the time ; now they cost 45E for 10 seeds. Definitely worth the price for such a great and reliable strain !
The only real issue with their version : flowering times can be really, really long (13/14 weeks of flowering for the most sativa dominant phenotypes).
So my goal is to reduce the flowering time, and add a variation to this chemical citrussy smell/taste ; actually i want to keep this "chemical", "dish-wasing liquid" trait, and change the lemon trait for other citrus fruits, grapefruit or tangie sounds cool.
In order to bring the different citrus fruit trait, i will try to mix it with Tangie from DNA, and Sweet pink grapefruit from Hortilab seeds.

AMNESIA IBL

Amnesia IBL Limited Edition comes from selections and reproductions of the famous Hypro’s Amnesia.
The USC team bred this Amnesia for 6 generations (F7) to isolate and stabilize the more Sativa phenotypes – to get a very strong high effect – so this strain is an Amnesia IBL.
This genetics shows strong vegetative vigor, its branches being able to reach the main bud when pinching it frequently. For this reason, USC recommends to grow Amnesia IBL in SCROG systems to canalize its vigor, or to start flowering just after a few rooting days: plants usually multiply its size per 4 after switching the photoperiod to 12/12.
Flowering period takes from 9 – 11 weeks, and plants develop long and very resinous flowers with intense smell: odor control systems allow to easily control its invading smell. Outdoor, harvest can be done around end October, depending on the latitude.
Once our harvest of Amnesia IBL is dryied and cured, we discover a fruity flavour with Haze tones, and a powerful sativa effect, psychedelic, electric and long lasting, ending with a body relaxed sensation.

Hortilab Seeds Sweet Pink Grapefruit BX

This beautiful Indica/Sativa hybrid results from a cross of a Sweet Pink Grapefruit clone and a Blueberry Sugar Daddy, back-crossed (BX’d) three times for stability. The lineage of both parent genetics carry through strongly into this hybrid - plants are strong and vigorous, yielding plentiful harvests of dank, trichrome-covered nugs.

Reserva Privada Seeds Tangie

Tangie grow nice and tall, has a good yield and easily will become your favorite. Will need some space because of its rapid growth until 5th week. Its flowers are filled with resin which has aroma of citrus and tangerines. Tangie has one of the best concentrates. For the best results should be cultivated in the soil. Reserva Privada Tangie won every single competition which has been entered.

Popped two seeds of Amnesia before starting the breeding project ; so i got out all the beans from the fridge : 8 more.
One male, one female. Male is DANK AS F..K ahaha ^^
Perfect smell on stems : pungent chemical, sour lemon. Really nice growth pattern, strong secondary branching, ok with low feeding, high humidity levels... really, really happy to find such a nice individual with... two seeds LOL !
The female one is less interesting : more weak, not the dank smell on stems, big and long stretch for not that much of bud sites ; i don't think it will be kept for the breeding project. But hey who knows, she will still be pollinated whith the dank male when flowers will be ready.

SPG seeds were sleeping in my fridge for at least two years ; i had germination issues with this one. only 2 on 7 seeds popped.. Got the three left out of the fridge, germination in a few days.
One is still on the growth pattern, the other one is a male. Pretty nice plant, but nothing exceptionnal ; weak citrussy smell on the stems, average flower production who don't smell much more that stems.
Since i really, really like grapefruit (fruit and taste of weed) i will have to buy other seeds ; but hortilab does not produce seeds anymore ; I saw this Grapefruit strain from BC BudDepot, it will be my next breeding material for this project if i don't find anything cool with SPG.

Only one Tangie plant for now ! Female in flowering cycle.
Nice orange/tangie soda smell on stems and flowers. The "soda" trait is really interesting, it could make a nice thing with the "dishwashing liquid" trait of Amnesia.
Only issue with the plant : really sensitive to nitrogen. I usually don't give them much, but it was still too much for her ; eagle claws leaves. But nothing really bad though.

The tangie plant has been pollinated with both SPG and Amnesia males ; if the tangie weed is good i will pop them on the next run.

The last Triple stuffed male, harvested tonight.
Yes I know, he needs water but i didnt want to manipulate him too much, since i have two boxes full of females beside the male box.
Smell is really interesting, pretty strong, : sugary vanilla dough, with an obvious kushy/fruity note, the two others didnt have this note actually. Not really what i'm looking for my breeding project, but i'm still pollinating TS females with this one.
Two days of drying for the pollen, and directly in the fridge waiting for some Cherrygasm ladies !

The three Triple stuffed ladies, day 24 of flowering. As you can see they're pretty similar, except for the one who stretched a bit more.
They all have this creamy sugary vanilla dough with a deeper chocolatey touch on stems, but it is not really strong. The taller one has a slight minty touch that others don't have.
Buds don't smell that much for now ; hope it will be better in a few weeks !
Each one has been pollinated with each male.

This is my sativa box, a bit of everything here. G13 Haze, Destroyer, Lemon OG Candy, K13 Haze, Y Griega, Golden Tiger, all feminised seeds.
Triple stuffed are the "hole" in the middle. I put them here in order to fill the empty space. They didnt get the same growth time, and pot change was done after, and in smaller size pots.
You can see the female Amnesia on the upper left ; same flowering time as all the other one (24 days), so much different bud production.. I think she's just a longer flowering girl. Big sativa influence !

A few updates on my breeding diary !

Just focusing on the chocolate/red fruit indica for now.

Triple stuffed didnt go really well for the project ; nice plant but too weak bud production and taste was too far from what i was waiting for. Not at all of chocolate taste, despite it had a really great og cookie taste.

I just ordered chocolate chip cookies from Purple Caper seeds. Looks definitely great for the project ;
"Sweet cookie flavor with an earthy chocolate undertone" according to the breeder.
Got also blackberry cookies, will see if i include it for this project but i took it mainly for fun.

I grew cherrygasm, and they ended as really good plants. Easy to grow, nice vigor, strong smell, taste and high. RIP Subcool, thanks for the work !
Got an og dominant phenotype amongst females, who was far away from the others, absolute madness :0 pungent sour/citrussy cherry mixed with overwhelming diesel (almost like petrol, really strong, maybe too much !)
Pollinated this one with a nice GDP (original) male, in order to reduce the sativa influence and obtain a more sedative effect. without alterate too much the terpene profile of the mother (cherry thing especially).
Seeds of this cross are on veg for now, so hyped about the final product.

So next step : work on the cherrygasm/gdp cross and see if chocolate chip cookie is good and suitable for the project.

Quick update on the cherrygasm X GDP

first 5 seeds already F+15. +20 seeds are on veg for now. Out of 5 got 4 females and a male.
From the left to right : #1 #2 #3 #4 females.


Male is very squatty short branching and internodal distance, typically indica growth, so leaning towards GPD. Smell is also really close, sweet fresh grapes, maybe a bit louder but still really close to GDP.
Find out 2 phenotypes for now ; the male is the strongest expressions for the GDP, two females are like that too (#2 and #4), first is taller but literally no branching, second one is a bit more slender but still the sweet GDP dom. smell.
And second phenotype (#1 is the best expression, #3 also but mixed with other pheno), my favorite : a more tall structure/branching/internodal distance, smells like a good mix of both parents. Still have the grapey sweetness but mixed with musky cherries, and heavy/earthy/almost fuelly undertone from the cherrygasm "og pheno" mother. Definitely smells stronger and better, my favorite for now. Still waiting for the big batch coming, but for now #1 is my F2 mother for the cherry/gdp strain and my best choixe for the chocolate/red breeding project.

Well F+50 for my cherrygasm X gdp, and things are going really well.

Definitely what i was expecting in terms of smell ; nice variety of mix from both parents, from sweet grape to sour musky cherry. On 6 females for now, 2 gdp/grape dom, 3 cherry dom, and one definitely sweet and sour berry/blackberry. Pungent chemical candy-like for all of them.

My favorite for now, strong musky cherry dom, balanced with subtle grape sweetness



Others cherrygasmXgdp, chocolate chip cookies and blackberry cookies are slooowly stretching, cold really slowed their growth..
Nice smell on stems though, pretty promising.

First cured buds for cherrygasm x gdp, and pretty happy with the results.

Cut at F+60, def. needed a week more or two but didn't had what to smoke so..
For now 4 chopped plants, and already two interesting ones.
First is sour musky cherry with sweet earthy grape notes, but you can fell she needed more time, taste is too subtle at this point. Mostly sour, with the cherry/grape mix. next time i let her go as long as she wants to get the best of the taste.
Second is sweet and sour blackberry, like loud sugary berry from gdp with a slight musky/sour twist from cherrygasm. Smell is subtle but once you crack a bud you can feel the great pungent blackberry syrup funk. Taste is strong, same profile as smell with earthy resinous notes. my favorite for now, still have a dozen females to test.
Effect is strong, cerebral, trippy but still gives a nice couchlock.

Both would be good for the chocolate/cookie cross,if i find a better cherry dom i would choose it, but for now the blackberry def. is the one i expect the most.
Have two chocolate chip cookies males, one has a great creamy chocolate smell on stem but is really short, other one has a better structure but with the chocolate thing less pronounced.
Also lot of cherry x gdp males to test, way too much work will only test the one or two best.
Unfortunately all blackberry cookies turned females, would have been great to pollinate the cherry x gdp blackberry pheno with it. two of them have a nice blackberry jelly scent and promising frost.
Next step is testing each male with the best cherry x gdp females, blackberry cut x choco cookies really sounds great.
