My first grow.

This is my first grow and it's pretty ghetto so far, working with what I have.
I'm going to update this diary as well as I can.

Soil: "Expert's 100% Organic Potting Soil" (only stuff I had, appears to work, says it feeds for three months)
Lighting: 23w CFL, 13w CFL and a 20w 24" tube floro. (I need more I know)
I have a 6" fan lightly blowing over the plants at the moment.

Here's some photos:

The two best looking so far:

This is what the cab looks like empty, I've been told to SCROG two plants in here, sound good?

Free free to post comments and suggestions, should the lights be farther away? All the plants were above the soil at one time but appears that they moved so much from sprouting, they weren't really in the soil any longer so I put them back in. A couple of them look good.. planted them two days ago. I've been watering them whenever the soil appears dry, they seem to like it so far.

Thanks.

you wont need any more lighting than that for about 2 weeks (i would replace that 13w with a 23w asap), but the lighting you have wants to be a little bit closer if you want them to stay nice and short (which in that cab, you do! :D)

best advice i can give a new grower is dont overwater! sometimes you'll go 3 or 4 days without doing anything to your plants and you'll feel like you need to do more! just let them do their thing and you'll reap the rewards! good luck mate!

Okay thanks, I had the lighting lower earlier but I raised it in the photos.. I just lowered it back. The reason I've been watering so much is the soil seems to drain and dry well.. I have a cheap thermometer in there and it says 90F.. I live in a very hot climate. I have AC which is on but it's still 90F inside the cab with the lights.. may be a problem. The plants seem fine so far.

Thanks again :D

I just checked and it was almost 100F in there.. I hate living here. It's like 78F in the room outside the closet my cab is in, but in my cab it's almost 100F even with a fan? I have two 80mm PC fans wired up to a wall transformer, should I use them as exhaust fans on the cab?

Thanks.

Hmm.. two of the plants look great and the one that looked good earlier is bent over and half dead looking.. why is that? Really odd.

I mounted the two 80mm fans on the back as exhausts, they don't move too much air but I hope it works..

you might want to put the fan on about a week or two in because the seedlings are so small their stalks arnt strong enough and it might hurt them and cause them to grow weird

That's what I was thinking.. the way I had it pointed was causing one of the little plants to shake noticeably, but I moved it.

Here's some new photos:

You can see the fans I installed at the top of this one:

This is one that was pictured in my original post and now looks worse.. might have been the fan blowing on it, I donno:

As my original post says, I'm growing in "Expert's 100% Organic Potting Soil", I don't know why it has larger chunks in it.. transplanting such young plants would kill them I thought? The only other soil I have is whatever I can dig out of my backyard, which is bound to be pretty sandy..

Well you can transplant them, but they will still be in some of that 100% Organic stuff that you have. When people transplant unless there is a problem with the soil. They take all of the dirt in that small cup and just put it into a larger pot so you dont mess up the rooth structure. Just a thought, hopefully they will pull through!

Oh and you might want to get some different cups or wrap those in BLACK DUCT TAPE cuz the light can hurt the plants roots.

i dont know bro i would just wait it out, its too early to transplant just the Plant. I think it will shock the hell out of it. You got any more seeds? What strain are you growing? Or is it bagseed?

I thought that may have been a problem but I don't have much else to grow in, what about steel coffee containers? I don't want to OD them on Iron hahah..

Honestly man i would start over. first i would get some quality seeds, but i have seen some nice ass budz grown with bagseed so hopefully you got a dank strain. Get some good soil. Like....

Peatmoss, Perlite, Dolomite Lime, Ect mixed with some good soil and even some sand will do helps them to drain well.

I can't afford all that stuff and being my first grow I knew something would go wrong which is why I didn't buy all that stuff anyway.. I wanna at least harvest some bagseed before I go ordering good seeds.

I donno what to do, I can try getting dirt out of my yard but I donno if it'd be better or worse than what I have now.

Well i dont know what to tell you, i have Hundreds of dollars invested in my grow and they are doing nicely. Not saying you have to have an expensive setup to get some buds, but you have to spend a little bit. It will pay for itself in the long run thats for sure!!

Here you go. 29 days flowering bro.

I have a 400 Watt HPS with a grow tent with a carbon filter and ocilatting fan and fan for intake and venting also.

This is my first grow, have 4 Females, 1 Male KILLED IT UPON Sexing it.
