My first question is: I am growing 4 plants in a home-made laundry hamper grow box (view on my profile) with 5 CFL's in a soil medium, light cycle 20/4, fertilizing with MG (12-8-4) every second watering. It's been 2 or so weeks and the plants look healthy, except for the embryo leaves are turning completely yellow, as well as the outside of a larger leaf on one plant. I've heard this is natural, but i wasn't sure. should i wait for the leaves to fall off? or snip them off to avoid excess nutrient consumption?

just let em fall off and if your in soil you should not be feeding nutes yet

Thanks! Also, I fear the container i made to grow my plants in is too small. Is there a minimum amount of space that marijuana can grow in comfortably? at least until flowering? I am trying to keep these as short and bushy as possible for security reasons :blsmoke:

Oh, another noob question i have is: Does smoking in the grow area affect the plant? I know nicotine on your hands is bad when touching the plant, but the c02 from your breathing is good for it; so does cigarette or marijuana smoke carry the c02 which will benefit the plants? or are these toxins?

You will get varying opinions on this, most will say don't smoke around em, but I do and have never had a problem

ok well to be honest with you when you veg and then put into flower they get double or een triple the size they are now. so if you let the plants get to a foot tall then put into flowering they would be 3ft when they were ready to harvest. So that really just depends on how tall of a space you have.....I would say flower soon if you need them to stay small

If i flowered now, how many bud sites would there be? I mean, what would the yield be? would it even be worth it?

that is what i dont understand. you have them in that hamper. it is not hiding anything, so why go to all the trouble? put them in a closet or laundry room or some where...you will have to put them in flower now. and they will yeild less than an 1/8th. i did that this last grow. i planted 50 plants and some were runts and wouldn't grow. so i pulled them and planted more. those were 3 weeks behind the rest of the plants. i put all the plants into bloom and the 4-5 that were females came out all skinny and shitty. very low yeild whenever one of my plants put off 1.465 oz's.

your grow box looks like you put some work in it but trust me. it will keep getting really hot and the plants will stay little. but best of luck to you. plants always want to get as big as they can. look at every pic in the wild and you never see short busy plants. you see some motherfucking trees.

The grow box doesn't get too hot right now, but i think it may be an issue if i add any more lights. You're right about the size of plants, I'll just have to set up something else with more space.:weed:

So I've decided to build a set up in my closet for flowering because there will be more room for the plants to grow, and better places to rig up lights. So my question is: Should I move my lights further away from my plants to "stretch" them out to make them taller for more budsites? Or will they be alright with the lights 2-3 inches away from them for their entire life cycle? Or how does that work? I want them to be thich with buds, but not overly tall and gawky.
