Weed is relatively easy to grow. And, if your goal is legalization, yes, you should play by the rules, and be thankful they have voted in some expansion of those rules.

by the way...here's a pic of my bud. Wispy little Sativa, low yielder. really tests well though...26.5 total thc..low cbd, cbn..no mold, pesticides or bug parts. And yes, I would profit at $1800 a lb. about $500.

the most i charge is 250 for low yeilding sativas like nev. haze and mango widow...200 is the norm round here and it allows me to give away a good amount to people that dont ask for it . cuz the ones that need it are already perscribed medes to the hilt and it is a chore to show them the amazing results from ganja...
That's actually fair pricing...for well grown meds of quality. Not rock bottom..but fair...

really, it's this-

attitude that's killin us.i guess it's greed.
why not sell the dude that quarter for 50, since before the law that was a reasonable price to pay for good smoke. still make a grip of dollars.
and the disp too. why not just keep it reasonable. really, if you were only making 10 dollars a quarter, you would love the business. instead, bunch of noobs went charging to the moon.

any of you. list your job here, and explain how it makes you RICH. it doesn't, why would mmj caregiver be any different. could have been all of us makin 50 K ayear smiling. instead we're grabbin our asses(maybe about to have em handed to us). all of this is no different than how it happened with pharma. we're them. no better.

any old drug dealer would be happy to have the deal we got. time for us all to straighten up. if it costs you a fortune to grow, you are not a grower. any asshole can build a shack for million dollars.

really there is no reason why we shouldn't be able to have some type of a caucus and resolve solutions to these types of things amongst ourselves. common sense solutions. big brother is comin. we've been bad, for sure

I could sell (but I don't) top shelf all day long for $200 and make a killing... Fact is though people are paying $80 a 1/4 for shit that smells like hay....

If people are paying that for shit why would someone take less for something better? I guess you could move it faster at a reduced rate.. but hell if I know a guy paying $80 and has no issue with it, I might as well sell him some for $80 too?

$300..you're nuts. The base value is probably in the 100 an oz range. If you can't grow weed and make a decent living at 100 an oz...you either can't grow weed, or you're way over valuing your time efforts and expenses.

That's based on the assumption that growing is recognized as a business, and run like one. You know..business license, accurate accounting, paying taxes...little stuff like that. Doesn't sound like most guys could survive in that scenario. Or they feel that that would be an "infringement' on their rights.

So, want you want, is the freedoms of business ownership, without the real world responsibilities of business ownership?. .

I mean, as a business, would this work for you? Take a look a this hypothetical scenario, even adjust it as you like. lets establish a fair and decent living for a caregiver with 5 patients and 12 plants per person.

Start up costs. lets assume that as a business, you will have to rent a location.

Is $10,000 for start up equipment enough? I'm only thinkin 500 a month for rent. just need open floor and electricity.

Easy one man operation..60 plants ain't that big a deal. yup, there will be some long day stretches. Harvesting times, re pot days...all that stuff. but ther will be long periods of "look and check" days too.. Kinda nice job.

So, I set up my operation. I think the way to make the most profit is flower half/veg half rotation. So I can flower 30 plants every two months. Lets cut that in half, so we can keep the accounting 'monthly".

15, 8 week plants, no space limitations, all the equipment you could possibly want...what's your yield estimate...on the low side? 2.5 oz per plant ok? That should be easy, right? remember, these have 8 weeks to root and veg..so they aren't too tiny to start.

2.5 x 15plants...37.5oz's right?

One oz for each of the 5 card holders...37.5 oz towards gross profits. At 200 an oz, that's $7500 gross per month.

Now we need expenses to get to net profit...

Rent 500, electric $1100 per month (most of you guys seem to think less) Equipment depreciation, repair, replacement and maintenance,300 a month, soil, ferts, pots..misc stuff...200 a month (again, generous by what I've read) lets pay an accountant 350 a month too, for our taxes and accounting.

add em all up...$2450 in expenses....if they are off in your estimation, help me get them right.

7500 gross minus 2400 expenses, your "taxable gross' is $5100 per month. Yearly taxable gross: $61,200

Like a good American, you file and pay taxes on 67k, for your your part time job (based on required hours to tend 60 plants) is that fair?
Your not going to make $61000 a year. If these are your expectations then your doomed for failure. On another note if you report your profit from cannabis sales to the IRS you will get busted. No need for the IRS to get involved. You pay your sales tax on everything you buy. Isn't that what makes our economy grow buying goods from stores and supporting small businesses and paying for other peoples services?

The legalization here in Michigan has made the price/ donations for "Medical" weed crazy. Some are charging &20.00 a gram and getting it all day with one third going to the 'club' and two thirds to the grower. If you do the math thats roughly 3K(Thousand) a pound for the club and 6K a pound for the grower. Seems to be a decent way to make a living, especially here in unemployed Michigan!
Lol you're kidding, right? I can remember 10 years ago the good chronic was going for $400 all day long, no deals, no hookups, period. Now you can get good weed for $200-250 an ounce all day long. If anything now that there is actually good, locally grown weed the prices have fallen by nearly half.

There are still some people that charge $100 a quarter around here and they get it because their meds are off the hook and they have the clientele that want the best of the best. I'd never pay that much but hey, if they can get it than more power to them bongsmilie

That's really a non responsive reply.. you brought fed and illegal and all that back in.The whole scenario was BASED ON the assumptions that it was a legit biz. And if you can't make 60k a year tending 60 plants..you simply have no idea of how to grow, budgeting, economics or business. Probably shouldn't be handling meds for a living.

Yes you pay taxes when you spend you money. But your supposed to pay taxes on income too.

So if you would like to show a business model on 60 plants..oh wait..you already said that you couldn't make much with that plant count.

Sorry bout your skillz...

The price has gone up dramatically. It's due to the dispensaries closing.
now you have to know a grower to find supply in many areas. With no dispensaries, growers suddenly feel they should get the dispensary mark up as well.

They are creating what in advance economics would be refereed to as "artificial demand". Basically, no matter how much actual supply exists, if the buyer has no competing sellers...he can charge whatever he wants. Most buyers, dont know a bunch of growers to price shop. Most buyers since the closing of dispensaries, have only one source they are comfortable buying from...they can't shop price. It's a form of extortion.

Kinda like this....

Your out of gas..lucky for you, there is a gas station right there. gas is posted at $3.45 per gallon. Bad news..the gas station is closed.
Good news! Guy pulls up in a pick-up and has 5 gallons of gas in a can. Bad news, guy says he'll sell you the gas for $20 per gallon.

You have choices...wait for the gas station to re-open. start walking and looking for gas elsewhere. Or, pay $20 per gallon to a kind, gentle good Samaritan.

After all, that good Samaritan should make something....

That's BS. I don't know where you live but if you smoked weed before it was "legal" then you were getting it from somewhere and chances are you weren't whining about the price.

Around here there is everything from dirty Mexican brick weed for $85 an ounce all the way up to $400 an ounce chron and eveything in between. If you cant find it and take advantage of it thats your problem.

Its all about networking and getting together to help out other growers, try going to the farmers markets. Seems like everyone I know is letting quarters of goodies go for right around $50-60. Here in the city you can't give away weed the market is so flooded, seems like everyone I know grows now.

I like it, pretty soon it will be even cheaper and people will still complain because everyone wants something for nothing.

Sounds like a great job...getting paid for doing something you don't mind doing...
It is, but there's always higher-ups that get to have WAY more fun lol. It's a fairly new job for me and I was beyond blessed to get it. Next spring I'll get to do trade shows, that should be when the real fun starts! ;)

Still waiting for caregiver responses to how much should a care giver should earn and why......Scare you guys away.?..no fun to play when you're asked to be accountable? If you can't answer, how are you going to run that care giver business in the real world? How are you going to help Society as we gain more freedom in med laws and legalization? Freedom and accountability go hand in hand.....

Really? None of you has anything?

stump. then your job ends.
Sounds like Stump is reporting to the IRS...He just said that he is an account rep for some of the players...i'm sure they hold him accountable for performance, and pay him via pay check.

I don't give a fuck about your family or the small town you live you meat puppet.
What I do care about is the state using you as an example after they bust your illegal ass to take away my rights to cultivate.

And fuck you about getting anything, if you can't earn respect you don't deserve any.
