Hey everyone thanks for checking out my thread, Ill be doing a 3 strain grow with 2 White Widows one in a soiless mix and one in coco

The strains im using will be

White Widow (x2)- Nirvana Seeds
Blue Cheese- Barney's Farm
Big Bomb- Bomb Seeds

Lights

4' flourescent ballast with 2 6500k bulbs for the seedlings
600w HPS from the time they are ready for it until the end
Also remember i will be using 12/12 right from the moment the seed goes in the medium

Nutrients

General Hydropoics 3 parts system grow/bloom/micro

My soiless mix is 1 part perlite/1 part vermiculite/1.5 parts peat moss

The reason I used a bit more peat moss is because I am sometimes on the road for a few days at a time and i wanted a medium that would hold water. That's also why im testing coco against soiless mix, Ive heard so many good things about coco but I've also heard that it doesnt hold water very well which could be a problem for me. I will be doing the same watering schedule same nutrients and ill try to keep every variable as close as possible and I guess well see which works best for my situation.

Feel free to comment, ask questions, criticize me or post pictures of your plants if you have any of the strains im growing. It will be nice to see what I can expect

Ok first of all i realised operation is one of those words that if you say it in your head too many times it doesnt seem like a real word anymore lol, Ive soaked all of my mediums in regular tap water nice and good to make sure there were no dry spots and let them sit on my table in the sun for a little bit to drain and dry up a little bit. After about an hour i made a hole approximately half an inch (6mm) deep gave it a couple squirts of room temp. purified water dropped a precious little seed in, covered it up gently and gave it a few more squirts. No pre germ methods for this guy, ive heard handling the seeds once theyve cracked can cause stress and i just want to be on the safe side. I sure hope they all sprout

Ok, so it's day 4 total since I planted the seeds but since today is the sprout day from this point on it will be considered day 1

So i came home from work and what a surprise!! The blue cheese and big bomb are up and looking good!! The white widow in the soiless mix is up but is looking quite pale
and still has the seed attached. So far its not looking too good for the coco but I think the reason its taking a bit longer is because the medium is a bit more dense.
When i had them both saturated with tap water i weighed them and the pot with coco weighed in at about 50 grams more so i havent lost faith in my coco white widow yet!

All seem to be growing well except the white widow in the coco so I dug her up and it looks like it was just a dud seed so I popped a new one in. My coco WW will be a week
behind but I still think the comparison will work out. Lets just hope this one sprouts

The new white widow sprouted and is looking very good! Watered them all today with 1/8 tsp/gallon of micro grow and bloom. About half a cup of water each

All of the plants are looking nice and healthy lots of new leaf growth. I watered them again today with 1/4 tsp/gallon of micro grow and bloom 1 cup of water each and let it soak into the soil good
since I will be gone for 4 days which should be the perfect amount of time for them to need to be watered again. I think when i get back i will transplant them and set up the hps!!

Ok so last night i transplanted to larger pots let them recover for the last 4 hours of light and then 12 hours of dark and then they woke up to the HPS!! everything is looking good except that the temps are waaay up so i think tomorrow i will turn my ballast down and switch to a 400 watt bulb. Hopefully the temps go down by a few degrees.

Here are some pics from right before I did the transplant

Lots of people like Coco works good but it drains and dries fast. You need good coco specific nutes and it may still be hard to keep it green & free of mag problems.

Check the first few pages of this thread he uses coco.

Looking pretty good there mush. I'm on about the same time schedule, my new batch are at day 18

Im actually on day 22 now i just knew no one really cares about the first little bit so i saved 3 weeks worth of pics and journal and posted them all tonight. Ill post pics tomorrow

How are our plants comparing? are mine doing alright? i was actually gunna post in your thread and ask you to take a look at mine and get your opinion

and also george i know i should have the coco specific nutes but thats what i'm testing, to see if i can get better results with coco as my medium in my specific set-up. Definitely not saying this is an equal comparison. if i wanted to do that i would have bought specific things for each medium... Maybe i should put a disclaimer somewhere so i don't get the whole coco club attacking my methods haha. But thanks for the info maybe i will look into picking up some cal mag or something

My 600 brought the temps up to like 32°c!!! I have a dimmable ballast so i switched it to 400 and threw a 400w bulb in. Now they are sitting at around 28°c which is still a bit warm for my liking but better. I live pretty far north in Canada so it will probably start getting cooler around the time my plants start flowering. Maybe for the last few weeks of flower i can switch back to my 600

Im thinking about picking up a 6" can fan with a speed controller for the next grow, that should solve the problem and if not i have a small enough room that i could run a cool tube and carbon filter off that big of a fan. Only shitty thing is thats starting to get expensive and loud for my little grow. What are the temps like in your tent?

we just hit a wave of 30+ weather here and in june we had 40+ weather!! it was insane for where i live lol. luckily i wasnt growing then

We've had the odd week where it hit 30 but that's about it. Temps are usually 20-22 lights off and 26-30 lights on. I used to panic if they got a little out of whack but I just even bother with putting a thermometer in their now

Ok so i looked at my plants nice and close and i see the pistols but at first i couldn't see any signs of sex but then i looked a bit closer and there they were!! On the big bomb and the white widow in soiless mix I can see the tiny little hairs. Im going to pick up a magnifying glass to get a better look.

I tried to take some pics but the camera was being a piece of shit and not focusing, i don't know if its because the batteries were getting low or because its just a piece of shit but i'm charging the battery right now so maybe ill get some close ups later on. Here's a pic of all the plants together
