Mulch with aluminum foil

You can use it outside in your garden by laying sheets of new or old aluminum foil sheets around the base of your plants. Hold the corners down with dirt or rocks. Poke holes for seedlings or young transplants. Thirps and aphids seems to hate this stuff and run as far away as they can. The reflective properties have even been found to help improve yields in tomatoes and peppers. Its' been confirmed by multiple universities and gardeners. And best of all, it's cheap. New or old foil, cheap emergency blankets, silver painted plastic mulch, just about anything that's shinny and silvery-gray in color seems to work.

During the summer you may need to remove it, as it can get hot enough in some desert areas to cause scorched roots. You can also work it into the soil or cover it with an organic mulch (old paper towel rolls, shredded phone books, dry grass clippings, etc.) when your expecting high heats. However, many gardeners across Southern and Central California, as well as Arizona and New York have claimed success in using aluminum foil as a mulch.

Now go ahead do a Google search on it, read up, and try it out. Do it NOW!! And happy growing. :leaf: - Vindicated
