Look up mainling, it's a technique where you top the plant for two tops then keep topping the shoots so you end up with 2^n even tops where n it the number of times you top the plant. I'd been thinking about trying something like it as a way to get 4 mains that stayed even without needing as much training. Then I was told someone had named the technique.
thanks bro, never heard of that, although nothing special in it, another way of training, still good to know more options cause different grow room and strains requires different training :)

I just like fucking with plants :)
damn, i suck as i was trying to find a good plant fucking pix and came up with nada.. :(

i've been thinking about trying that mainlining tech. for a new grow as well as i only have a 400 watter and penetration isn't it's best feature...

I'm losing leaves 20" below canopy on Cu, I'm goin to trim off the branches down there as well, no sense wasting that energy. That's what I find attractive about the mainline style, I can take individual plants in and out of the grow and maybe even keep an even canopy with a perpetual grow by raising plants up and lowering them through the stretch. And I get to fuck with lots of plants :)
Its looking like a flood table isn't happening anytime soon. Mrs Duck can't seem to get past the word flood. I'm thinking I'll still get the 24"x28" mixing tub and set up 6 hempys in it in 9"x9" buckets if I can find them. That's about 2.5gal or 9.4L.
I'm going to have a tough time choosing what beans to pop, I was looking forward to so many!

hehe just read through main-lining thread, nice thing I would say for people who want to keep it lower and have 8 colas instead of 4, like me, on my next grow(C99) im gonna try that out as well :) it's a bit of a pity although, since I smoke so rarely, I got already like 70g stored in jars, in last 7 weeks I smoked a bit over a gram haha.. so if in 6-8 weeks I'll harvest 2 more plants, will have like 140g in total. it's just that i'm addicted to growing lol, can't stay a day not doing that.. so difficult to decide whether to grow when I don't need an output or not to grow :)))
Anyway auxins distribution in 2 then 4 then 8 then n colas seems more reasonable to me cause you get more even colas, but I wonder how much time do you lose due to stress when topping that many times..

I'll be running a perpetual setup, veg time doesn't really matter so long as I can keep the bloom area full. I should have plants ready to go into bloom from 1qt containers with 16 even tops. I'll probably hold them at 8 and then do the last topping a few days before they go into flower to get consistent plants. The plant I'm experimenting on has 8 tops and was a clone rooted around the end of the first week of this month. It's been directly under a 23W CFL since I started this experiment. I'll check back in my journal later and post exact dates this plant won't get flowered but I'll be taking a clone from it and doing the same thing but in a hempy instead of dirt. I hope the AK x Jack is a girl. I wish I had a better solution to keeping genetics going while we go away.

Haha! I knows exactly what your saying bro! I love messing round with plants myself. ;) so much I take care of 34 strains! Lol. I had 36 but two of my babies passed away the other day! :(
I had alittle funeral for them.. it was so sad! Lol..

man... funeral for the plants.. that sounds sad but also something controversial to sad.. Prob because u don't see very often funerals for plants... it's not like the last plant died on earth :) keep your motivation up!

And that clone with 8 colas, did you have any problems with nodes growing not symmetrical?

Nothing a little training didn't take care of. I'll post a pic after my daughter goes to bed.

The internet was down last night, here's some pics from yesterday. I liked the shadows in this one.

Day 48 for Bushy

Here's the Cu clone I've been mainlining. I fucked up and broke off one of the growth tips earlier than I wanted to so she needed some training instead of just letting the branches grow up a little and topping them at the same point while defoiliating below.

The Royal Dog is still growing. I'm really glad I trained her down. The super cropped branch is still the tallest. She'll be 5 weeks tomorrow I believe, I was really hoping she was going to finish faster but it looks like I might need to figure out how to try to keep her alive while we're on vacation or risk leaving her hanging while we're gone. Or just chop her early. She seemed to take a little while to start flowering so I'm curious to see how a mature clone of her does, but right now I'm not satisfied with her. Stella has me spoiled.

Bushy is on day 51. I wish I had more space to devote to exploring Stella's harvest window. She's going to be coming down July 14th probably so she has 5 days before we leave for the shore to be dry enough to jar. She's got good strong branches and is having trouble in a few places. I've got to figure out how to get some good macro shots of her. I like the shot through the loupe under the HPS a lot as a photo but it's quite far from what I see which is what I try to show with my photos. I think I do a decent job of it for the most part.

Here's what was left on Pancake, she's really fattening up. She's on day 66 today. I'd like to let her go longer but I'm running perilously low on bud :(

The other forum I post on automatically resizes large pics hosted elsewhere but the code doesn't work here, anyone know how to do it?

I think I figured out how to water while we're away. I can set up a bottom feeding setup where I leave jugs full of water capped in a tray with holes at the bottom. The lower pressure at the top keeps the water from flooding everywhere and it jus fills the tray to the top of the hole.
Mill be setting it up tomorrow but we moved up the plans for MrsDuck to trip so I might not get pics up immediately.
I took this this morning, Bushy is one day 53.

And have a full body pic of her since I needed to edit this so the first image showed up.

I got an autowatering system setup for Cu yesterday before we dropped. Really simple, cut a little hole at the bottom of a jug and stick it into a dish with the pot in it. I hope I can fit enough water in the box with the girls. I should be able to get 2.5gal + whatever I put in the tray before hand, that should last a plant a week.

Here's a shot of Bushy's stalk to show how thick it is.

Bushy is on day 59 today, her tops will be harvested next weekend and the rest of her left with an auto watering system while we're away from the 19th to the 26th so they'll probably be chopped on the 27th.

Cu is finally packing on bud, we'll see how she does, hopefully she is ready to chop when we get back.

Here's a picture of the veg tub.

Things are pretty good in there. The bigger Blue Dreams are having a few issues but I think it's because they've been in small party cups for about 4 months. I'll be cutting new clones of them before we leave for vacation to ensure I keep the strain. The Purple AK X Jack Herer is having what looks to be a Mg deficiency, I'll add a pinch of epsom salts to the next watering. I have room to set up a bottom watering setup like I'm doing for the flowering girls in the tub so I'll be doing that and hoping to keep the plants alive that way so I don't lose time to rooting clones. I really hope the seedling is female. 5 straight boys would be crappy.

I didn't really until quite recently. I got tired of people asking if any of us grow. I also like showing that a ghetto setup can produce.

My daughter is with us all week some I may not get pics up till the weekend. The plants are doing pretty well. I was feeling crappy last night and went to bed without watering the veg tub, one of the bigger Blue Dreams was pretty wilted looking when I checked her this morning but she has perked back up.
I had to dim the light to 50% because it's been really hot the past few days. It was uncomfortable just being in the room, it seems much better today.
