Moving to Colorado Springs

Hello Everyone,

My family and I are planning on moving to Colorado Springs in June, so i have a couple of questions seeing as how this is going to be a very big step for my family.

What do you all think of Colorado Springs?, from what my wife has told me its a very green community on the edge of the eastern flatland.
Is the community family friendly?
Is the community Cannabis friendly?
What re the growing seasons like?
Is unemployment any worse than anywhere else? I am a mechanic by trade.
How is the school system there? mainly elementary because my oldest is in 1st grade.
How much would it cost to change over drivers licenses and tags? Are there annual inspections done to cars?
We are looking to rent a house but might have to settle on a apt, any suggestions on where to look?

Thank you in advanced for you responses i look forward to being in your beautiful state soon. from the pictures ive seen i wish i could move there tomorrow lol but a prepared person is a smart person and i want this to be as smooth of a transition as possible for my little ones.

Thanks again

Considering a move there myself as my sister lives there and parents thinking about moving there too. I'll probably go to denver tho better job market for me. I've visited there several times for extended trip, so here's my visitors perspective since no one else has replied. :)

Cannabis friendly? Dispensaries EVERYWHERE and I got someone to hook me up last time I was there :) I'm not sure it's on the same level of acceptance as places like SF/oakland, LA, etc. Hope they don't have a backlash like in ft collins.
Not sure on grow seasons but they have fairly late and early seasonal cold snaps so guessing it's somewhat brutal if you don't have a greenhouse or it's not a strain suitable to northern growing. Growing outdoors still illegal if it's in view/accessible to the public.

If CO legalizes definitely moving :)

Ive lived in the springs for just about 2 years now and can say it is a nice place. Its a city with a kinda small town feel. I moved here from a town that had 7,500 people and everyone said helllo when they walked by so when I moved here I was worried cause ive been places where if youtry to say anything to someone who catches your eye they look at you like youre crazy, but people here are nice enough to say hello back.

yes, the springs is family friendly. they are one of the most religious/family oriented areas Ive even known (add the military in and its a little too much sometimes for me) but Im single and dont have kids so you may find it more tolerable then I do.

** If you are looking for an apartment I lived in aplace called Pinecrest apts. its on E. LaSalle st and is pretty centrally located in the middle of the springs. I lived there for over a year and would definately reccomend it. Its quiet clean and pretty resonably priced.

Springs has several different parts to it. You need to check where you are moving to because there are gangsta areas in the south east part of town. But for the most part, people are very religious around here. Monument is nice and quiet, but it's a little bit of a drive to work if it happens to snow, being on top of the hill. So it's a hit or miss, as far as the neighborhood you move to. Lots of stabbings and shootings at the bars downtown all the time. People who have lived here for a while dont go downtown at night. It's dry here.....not too much snow. The Mts. are beautiful all year round!!!

I lived by the Broadmoor while I was working there (coolest address of all time btw, 420) I liked it. cool mountain to drive up, pikes peak, plus the hill climb. Garden of the gods, no not the one youll be growing :), kinda spread out for my liking... Im a city boy. And an ocean lover so none of that around there either :) but its pretty chill... Weed friendly yes. Family friendly, meh ya but I dont have kids so I dunno bout that part... Anyway, welcome to our humble forum. Keep posting, youll meet some cool peeps w some killer genetics.

This is my first actual post/reply on this site, so I appreciate any help, and if this is a question that has been answered in any where else just shoot me a link with the location.
Ive been scoping out colorado and it seems like colorado springs is where me and my lady will end up at first, Denver eventually. Ive heard a few diff things about getting your red card, like you needed a valid state id, and others have said just an utility bill that has your name on it works. either way just wanted to know about how long the whole process takes from rec to card in the hand. thanks for any help
