Mother nature topped my plants

It's 5AM in the morning, I just went outside to check on my plants, and low and behold my prized Super Silver Haze was broken in half right along the main stem. We had a nice strong wind at night and she's been growing really fast, and I guess the stem just couldn't take it anymore.

Nothing much I could really do about it now other then wait it out. I did put some blue masking tape around the top, to seal off the hole. There's still a morning dew, so as of right now, it still looks healthy and hydrated. I also took the top broken half and dipped it in cloning gel, placed it in a container of Fox Farm Light Warrior, cut the tips of the top leaves back, and took it indoors to go under my 200 Watt CFL.

If I'm lucky, I'll come away with two plants, if not hopefully one of the halves pulls through.

If and when I top a plant, I dab a bit of roofing cement on the hole. It seals instantly, keeps bugs out and reduces the chance of a viral infection to the plant. Roofing cement will not harm the plant, is cheap and will give some peace of mind. Just a thought. Sometimes that hole can be so large an animal could walk in, depending on the stem girth..

Oh that's a good tip. I just used what I had on hand, but one of my concerns is infection.

The clone is already not doing so well. After just a couple of minutes putting it in soil the leaves started hanging low. I've seen this before and when they start looking sad they usually don't make it.

As a last ditched effort, I pulled it out of the soil, washed the stem off, re-dipped it in a cloning gel, and put it in a cup of water with a lid to block the light. I also decided to bring it back outside, thinking that indoors is probably to dry for it. If it was smaller I could put it under a dome.

The bottom half of the plant still looks great. I feel pretty good that it will pull through. Can't say the same about the top half. I'll be really surprised if she roots.
