mold mold mold mold mold!!!!!! omegaw!!! my top cola died on a plant and it molded!

Guys i have a plant that the top of the cola completely died and molded!!! i just figured out that it was dead and i plucked it off and it was full of mold!!! i still took a fat bong hit too see if the weed would get me stoned and it got me blasted into cloud nine! and made me vomit violently all over my bathroom.....
what does it mean when the top of the main cola dies but all the rest of the buds are still alive?
i have been keeping this plant with the rest of my plants does this mean mold might have gotten into my other plant?
i am chopping both plants down on friday! and starting over! my plants are burly 37 days in flower but mold is not cool so ima killboth plants i have flowering and starting over i am so scared that ima dry everything and its gonna be infested with mold!!! OMEGAW!!! what a way too end a first grow lmfao

I'd cut off the dead part & do a thorough inspection for any sings of the same thing & cut that out also, be aggressive about it.

Air circulation and humidity control are now critical.

Bud rot maybe.

You got bigger problems to consider.

Smoking moldy bud is terrible for you.

That bud did not turn overnight. You need to keep a closer eye on your plants.

Your airflow or humidity is fucked, at 5 weeks your plants probably haven't packed on the bulk of their weight, meaning that this is going to be a bigger problem the further on you get.

I would start over, clean everything, and consider reading a book on the subject. The grow Bible is a great start for basic concepts.

Toss em and start over. If you’re indoors give everything in the room and tent a wipe down with bleach solution (walls and ceiling too) keep humidity between 45-55% throughout flower and keep air moving through your canopy. (Those clip on oscillating fans from ac Infinity are great if a bit pricey) throwing out a crop sucks, but it comes with the territory when you’re learning. If you’re outdoors idk I don’t do outdoor, probably pick a variety more suited to your environment.

Look - you should never smoke moldy bud or take chances on damaging your lungs ( you only have one set ) …. “ Hello ? …. “ Hello ? ( *checks your pulse ) … “ Oh , Ok cool “.

Anyways you can google what possible bad things can happen from the spores and respiratory harm. If its your only time and you hurled all over yourself - then you are probably ok and most likely won’t do it again.

As far as plant - consider any fan / air movement within grow area an issue as far as spreading spores.
A heavy deep clean will be needed.

thanks man i chopped off some buds from the plant that had the dead cola because they looked infected im so scared that my first grow just went down the toilet lmfao!

throwing them away is so hard for me because its my first grow i am chopping them down this friday and if anything looks molded when theyre done drying im gonna throw it all away im so scared man

budzbuddha your the reason i checked my plant too see if the nug was dead i read a post you posted on someone elses thread saying watch out for mold because of necrosis so i checked my plant no lie and it was dead cola and molded

It happens- zero in on your temps / RH / air movement within your grow . Also never spray buds with anything. Its a learning thing , you will do fine.

Looks more like bud rot to me. Not the clearest picture though. Either way rot or mold, it's humidity and airflow that's causing it

yes it was my only time smoking molded bud yesterday and when i let the bong hit out i immediately threw up im never doing that again! im just surprised at how stoned I got no lie i was on cloud 9!

thanks man knowing that humidity and airflow are the culprits really helps me out i was growing in a closet this next run im gonna buy a grow tent for my closet with a centrifugal fan for exhaust!

its not allways an instant thing with the mouldy but, no, its no good for you, but it can cause other problems down the line should you get a problem with your imune system. boom, it'll jump strait in probabnly

I pissed in a beer bottle and gave it to this kid who was acting a fool. Kid kept grabbing my buddies stepmoms boobs (they were nice). Always heard drinking piss would make a person want to fight, next thing I know this drunk kid was slapping my buddies dad (these parents were the home owners). Last I saw the dad choke slammed him.

Someone told the kid later (the kid ended up being manic depressive) and he wanted to kill me for years I heard lol.

As someone who has grown a few moldy buds before, here are a few things to keep in mind for the future:

It's almost always going to start near the center of the buds. The first sign is usually a single dead leaf in the middle of a bud. When you notice that, you want to remove that whole bud immediately to reduce the chances of it spreading. Mold/bud rot is usually more subtle indoors, you probably won't get a full-on meltdown like you might have outdoors.

Most molds require high humidity or even liquid water on the leaf surface to germinate, but once they've germinated they will continue to survive even when the humidity drops.

More important than low humidity is stable humidity and temperatures. Big swings of either one can lead to condensation inside the buds, which is the perfect environment for mold to get started. I like the temp/RH meters where you can see maximum and minimum numbers, too. Sometimes when the lights go out, temperature will drop, causing the humidity to spike, which can lead to condensation (look up what "dew point" is). A meter with a min/max function can help you spot that sort of thing, which happens when you're not looking.

Airflow has two parts - exhausting/exchanging the air inside the tent or closet quickly, which will help reduce any sudden changes in temps and humidity from things like lights turning on/off or watering. And good circulation inside the tent or closet, which will prevent pockets with little to no air movement, where humidity can build up.

Phew, sorry that was a lot. Moldy buds suck! Sorry for your loss, chalk it up to experience and you'll do better next round!

Dehu +ac +ipm + silica + 24/7 ventilation +uva and maybe small bursts of uvb , leaving baking soda fridge packs around the house, and growing resistant strains can help also thinning out the plants too
