i used it and put my sprouts from seed directly into it. i didnt have any problems. although before i transplant my babies into it, i always flush the soil with ph'ed tap water a couple of times before i put the babies into it. i did however have some overwater/underwatered issues til i got used to it.

Thanks Mastakoosh,
See that flushing part, thats the part I don't recall reading anywhere before until now after the fact (well someone else in this thread too but still to late for that group).
It's OK though, I learned a lot (always did learn things the hard way) and this group of babies are doing good now.

Day 16 since germination

13 days veg/seedling

and 3 days of 12/12

all in MG moisture control...

near perfection....

I suspect, hese plants will never need nutrients, they will be watered 6.8 pH water ..

they were germinated in rockwool cubes.. i believe, this may offer a slight buffer to the seedlings... so they are less likely to get burned by the MG nutrients in the soil

I grow all my plants in MG moisture Control and have had no problems at all. I do not add any nutes until about a month but I also start my seeds off with the MG for seedlings. It has the appropriate nutes for the seedlings.

Even using just MG for seedling works fine..

The BIGGEST mistake people make when using MG grow soil is that they do not water correctly.

Some people will under water their plants every day so that the top remains moist but the underneath is dried out. THIS will cause damage only because there are nutes in the soil and if you do not water and let dry out slightlly in between; you will may into problems

I always water really well and then let it sit for a while while watering the rest of the plants.

I then go back and water again until I see the water coming out the bottom. If they are too dry then often the water just runs along the pot edges and doesn't get to the roots.

Its the roots that are left drying out in soil that has added nutes that would cause any damage and nothing else.

The only criticism I have about MG soil is that is does have pests in it that can be annoying if you do not have other predators to keep them at bay. You need to set up an eco friendly environment for this fact alone. Like lady bugs etc. Thats what I do and all is fine.

In fact this time of year...ladybugs that have been hiding away in corners here and there throughout the house are coming out of their hibernation state so I collect them and put them in my grow room.

I like ladybugs.

13 days veg??? wow:o Just noticed that:-| You're flowering babies.

Hello,

So I also went out and purchased a bag of Miracle Grow Moisture Control soil and have a question. Should I use this soil or just the regular Miracle Grow Potting soil? Also, which would be better to water with Tap water or Bottled water? What is the PH of bottled water?

i just started five seedlings about 8 days ago and so far they are fine. I am using distilled water instead of tap. i didnt know there were nutes in there when i bought it and am thinking of switching to fowfarms soil soon. The only thing i am worried about though is the high N when i get to flower. May have to transplant them before that

I use MG Potting Mix with continuous release plant food! It works for me. I think most MG works well as long as you balance your PH. I advise you always TEST because there is always a manufacturer mistake for any product but 99% of the time you won't get the defect!

I'm all for MG organic. Works great for me, Into my fourth grow and I've never had a problem. I think most of the bad MG experiences are from TOO MANY ADDED FERTS. You would think stoners would be able to chill and not try to micromanage their plants....

I used the moisture control with my plants from day one and they loved it with only one cfl on each cause i was broke i never added nutrients for the first 25 days either. cause it said thats when the nutes should be gone. even then i just put some 5-20-10 nutes. they smelt like weed too and i hadnt even started flowering yet. no burning though, my ph was 6.9 so, i heard on one post that higher ph is better for MG? im not sure where i heard this though.
