Mimosa Evo - Barneys Farm

Mine smelled like just a normal plant throughout the whole grow and after jarring them and curing for a while, the smell came out a little in my opinion like some type of Dawg, not Mimosa at all.
Also all the grow diaries I've read on this specific breeders Mimosa (Barney's Farm), none of them have turned out like the breeder says it should (Fruity and citrusy). Everyone is claiming, pine, earth, wood, diesel, only 1 or 2 have noted some citrus in the equation. Good luck to all you growing it atm!
Same here, will not grow again

I did notice a difference between the pheno's, mainly two plants have a fruity fragrance.
Will know more after cure.
Also if wet weight calculations are correct I should get close to 2 lbs off this grow.
I have problem with it drying too fast, can't dial it in right. Got curing down, just drying give me the finger. Maybe harder nugs will take longer, the days of airy buds are gone.

I normally dry in the garage where the humidity is in the 70 to 80 range, dry to three to four day's then put into a bag for 24 to 36 hrs then hang them or put them on the screen for another 24 to 48 hrs. If needed I will put them in the bag again and rehang as necessary.
A couple of grows ago I put them in a bathroom in the house and the humidity was much lower than the garage and they dried way to quick.
I also use Boveda humidity packs in my jars when curing and following curing.

That Lazy Susan grow was a Barneys Farm LSD Monster Crop. I did 18.8 zips of trimmed smokable buds in jars. Don't remember the weight of the untrimmed bud, but it is usually around 4 zips of untrimmed.

I know man, such a disappointment! The whole reason I got into growing in the first place was cause I'd come across Mimosa a few times and man was it always so loud with those berries and citrusy terpenes that literally if you threw one small bud in a bunch of other strains, you'd always be able to smell it out!
The taste was literally like Fanta NO JOKE!
Turns out that every single time I had Mimosa, it was the original Symbiotic Genetics Mimosa, not this Barney's Farm one.
Also not sure if anyone else noticed, but on their main site they changed the genetics from it being Purple Punch x Clementine, to it being Mimosa x Orange Punch..
That was something that really irritated me too, but not too much as when it happened I was still growing it and was thinking that it might actually be better with the added orange terpenes that will make it even more fruity!
Boy was I wrong and it turned out more gas and pine and only a slight smell of laundry detergent kind of citrus..
Never again, I still have about a dozen of those seeds and I still went and germinated a Do Si Dos bag seed rather than that, also I managed to get my hands on a clone of the original Symbiotic Genetics Mimosa the purple pheno as well, so I'm hyped on how that turns out too in the end!
I'll attach a picture of them.

Symbiotic mimosa for the win 2019 outdoor, potency was lacking, delicious and bag appeal for days. but I’ve had better luck in my f2s and the crosses I’ve made with the male were unreal.

Why do people still give Barney’s farm money? Especially growers in the US

I’ve wondered the same lol.

I did barneys blue cheese about 8 or so years ago a good couple or so years after it released and every plant sucked arse. when I first did it it was amazing an every plant absolutely stank of what you’d expect - cheese with blueberry funk and I’d have run any of the 5 again.

The last time I did it I did 5 plants and only one had any remote blue cheese or even skunky smell. It was really faint but it was there. The other 4 plants had literally no smell or terps at all. It smelt like grass or hay, the buds were nice and frosty an dense etc but I couldn’t even give it away as nobody wants to smoke weed that tastes like shit anymore.

Never germinated another barneys farm seed again after that and I won’t ever. I have a load of freebies barneys farm beans but man I’m not even gonna give those away to a mate to grow as I don’t want to be responsible for them wasting their time and money growing bunk weed. I’ve done a few other BF strains but they were also mediocre or average at best, Besides the first couple packs of blue cheese I ran over a decade ago.

I’ve been saying this it seems a lot lately but why spend months and all that time and money growing weed if your jus gonna buy cheap ass potentially bunk genetics? (don’t get me wrong I know not all cheap beans are shitty) You may aswell spend a lil bit more on actual quality genetics where instead of growing out a whole pack and hoping you maybe get lucky with a single keeper in the pack when you can grow a whole pack and actually have difficulty in deciding which plant to keep as they are all so good. You don’t even need to run a whole pack then jus a couple beans of each strain and you know with every plant the bud you gonna get is gonna be dank as fuck. I used to think that expensive beans where not worth the extra money and in some cases they are not but if you do your homework you can find the ones which are consistently good and a lot of them are actually worth the money especially when you compare to “breeders” like barneys farm.

I rate greenhouse seeds as considerably higher quality than barneys. I’ve actually done quit a few greenhouse packs in the past an never had a bad plant. Never had an amazing outstanding plant either but I can’t complain for the price of their beans. The exodus cheese they did was always consistently stinky just like the real exodus, the worst was kings Kush but only cos I really didn’t like the smell an taste but everyone else loved it, nothing wrong with any of the plants at all tho just not my cup of tea. Havnt grown any ghs in just as long tho but I’ve done probably at least 6 of ghs strains an mostly full packs if not more and all of them were pretty good quality weed defo above average.

Barneys also have a bad habit of taking hype strains/names and basically releasing their version of it which is more often than not nothing like the original strain and often doesn’t even contain the original hyped strain to begin with. Should be classed as false advertising besides the fact it’s considered a major dick move in the cannabis industry to rip off someone else genetics, but BF goes all out an steals the names whilst completely faking the genetics.

Woah that was longer than I intended. Apologies for the long arse post lol

Critical kush has been fantastic to me, was a great early finishing outdoor beast, my friend grew their Acapulco gold. Remind me again, Acapulco gold isn’t a bushy indica that finishes in 9 weeks right?

Hahaha lol no Acapulco gold is a mexican sativa. The true Acapulco gold is probably gonna be quit tricky to grow indoors if the strain/cultivar even still exists today. Classic barneys farm tho taking a well known name and just plopping it onto any one of their strains in order to sell beans based on the name/hype alone. Any well known strain barneys supposedly has listed is unlikely to be anything like the actual strain people know and love. It’s basically barneys farms own “recreation” of it if you can even call it that.

It’s really sad how things kinda fell apart when everything moved to Spain and wayyyyy too much got mottled and mixed up. What European breeders really can bring something special to the table, and are trustworthy? A few come to mind, but the list of elite euro breeders that I trust/respect enough to shell out my hard earned dollars to seems like it gets shorter and shorter. That being said the US market is an absolute shot show but i do have a handful of breeders that I support, directly when I can.

After my researching day in and day out, I finally realized that it's true that Barney's Farm is just basically like the Chinese rip-off option to the original thing, like you said if you can even call it that considering that it sometimes has no characteristics whatsoever of the name it's trying to replicate!
It's almost as if they have 1 good pheno out of 10, whereas most other breeders have like a 1 or 2 out of 10 that are maybe average or just below.

The main reason I grew Barney's Farm in the first place was I wanted to grow Mimosa and I couldn't find the seeds anywhere here in the UK and I was unaware all about original genetics at that time and phenos etc..

All I knew at that time was information from a friend and to only get feminized seeds as I don't want to mess up on my first grow and end up growing a male, so I took that information and kept punching it in everyday on Google, "Mimosa Feminized Seeds UK" and I would never find anything, until one day, Barney's Farm decided to release the Mimosa Evo and I just believed that this was the one I've been searching for and even if it isn't, it can't be much different in taste/smell, almost like Sprite and 7up.. they're both lemon soda, taste different, but you can still taste the main ingredient which is lemon.
The Mimosa Evo on the other hand, was nothing, not even a slightly resemblance where I could say hmm.. yeah I can smell/taste Mimosa in this.. more like the difference between Sprite and Coca Cola!

See I ended up ranting on for almost forever too and not realizing! It only happens when I talk about weed for some reason or something I'm really passionate about!
Nothing to apologise for, we're in the right place for this as everybody here wants to read and give as much advice to and from this community as this is what it's all about and how it grows! (No pun intended.. or was it..) ;)

Anyways, happy growing y'all and I'm off to roll a fatty for my wake and bake of some nice Dolato (Dosidos x Gelato 41) :bigjoint:

I have been growing Barneys seeds for a number of years now, and have only had one disappointment.
I am not able to have my grows tested, but have enjoyed what I grew. I have purchased cannabis from Colorado and was not all that impressed.
I would like to try Symbiotic mimosa and will order some seeds from them soon.
I grew one Mimosa EVO last grow and my professional tester, my GF, loves it. I am not a good judge so I depend on her for testing.
I will use a majority of the grow for making FECO, as I don't smoke much anymore.

Ive got barneys mimosa evo, also their peyote critical. Both of them I won through contests. Thinking about going peyote critical next round and mimosa after that.

Bare in mind Symbiotic Genetics Mimosa is only regular seeds, they don't have feminized.

Good luck and hope you don't get disappointed like most of us with the Mimosa!
Heard a lot of hype on the Peyote, might have to keep us posted as I was thinking of running it soon myself!
