nope i havent, germinating some bagseeds right now :hump:
also, i dont know about the ligts cuz if i put there some more (4 already in) it will be much hotter so i need better fan for that

hey im just about ready to start growing im NOT doing a PC case grow but mine is a dresser grow close to a Pc case becuz its only about 2-3 feet in hight im going to be starting with 3 23-26w cfl light bulbs (not sure the temperature whatever i can get my hands on) but i have one question i need answered before i can start i no u NEED ventilation so i cut 2 holes in the back of the grow box and placed one at the top right and the other at the bottom left so its the opposite but im doing a stealth grow becuz im attending college at my home town for a 2 year period so i need the box stealth( i covered: light leaks, and outside suspicion) but i need a ventilation idea that DOESNT use any fans but still gets enough oxygen in and out of the grow box without leaving my house smelling like the opening of the woodstock concert lol so i was thinking about gluing,taping, or whatever dryer sheets to the holes would that work enough? or would i need something different? i was thinking a DIY filter but i thought if i used carbon then the oxygen wouldnt get threw without a fan so i was thinking a DIY filter with coffee grounds inside 2 stapled dryer sheets(like a normal DIY filter but dryer sheets just to top it off) but i dont no if the oxygen would flow without threw it without a fan ( i will open the grow box 1-2 times a day) but i dont think that ll be enough.

does anyone have a answer?

Hey Dope man, welcome to my thread and thanks for posting here. It welcome anytime. Unfortunately my fellow stealth grower, Fans are the hugest part of what make a stealth grow sucessful. Why is it you don't wanna use fans? Dryer sheets are nice if the only people who will ever smell it, have never smelled POT before. The problemwith that is it just add's with the smell and does nothing to neutralize it. Unless you can find a way to vent directly outside, you'll need a DIY carbonfilter...but you'll need a decent fan for that. You NEED to find a way to incorperate fans, infact to keep it stealth, it involves an entire stratagy, not just the box to be stealth. Tell me what your up against, and I'll tell you how to deal with it, or point you in the right directions. Been doing stealth for years now, under my parents noses, friends, family, and co workers....never once been "sniffed out".

well i live with my parents again cuz im attending college at my hometown so i did want to use fans becuz of the noise, and i cant get my hands on a computer fan soill need to use a normal one probably a 9" one from walmart but how can i make it like copletely silent? and couldnt i use ust one fan as the outake and leave the intake with dryer sheets so the pressure of the one fan will automaticly pull the air as a intake?would that work? becuz im attending college i dont really have a job atm but im a self employed business man if u no what i mean (read my name:P) anyway any ideas on ho to slient a fan easliy and without buying a bunch of stuff?

and sorry to keep posting but i was thinkin of just leaving the 2 holes open until i can just a tiny bit notice a smell of the plants like when they first start to bud so i was thinking just to add a fan or carbon filter only when their buding woudld that work? cuz they shouldnt smell if their not buding right?

Ok I'll explain a few things about fan theory LOL if ya wanna call it that. The more blades the propeller has the quieter it will be and a given revolution per min. Also more blades means the potential for more air flow. In a small cab like what your using...you can likely get away with one outtake fan and a passive intake vent. Surely there myst ba a thrift store around or a junk and salvage type place you could browse through??? BUT for a DIY carbon fitting you'll need a hamster wheel fan. Getting one that pumps more air than what you need and running it slower than it's rated setting will really help with silence. BUT you should concider doing a strict 12/12 from seed grow. So the only lights and fans on are during that 12 hour period....You can set that 12 hour period to take place during the most unlikely part of a day your parents won't be buggin you.....Perhaps...lights come on at night, while your studying 2 hours before bed, then the rest of the time it's on while you and everyone else sleeps. Off in the morning. Fans and lights....creating NO suspision while your away. ALSO.....your livin at home, FORGET ABOUT DRYER SHEETS....LOL the pungent oder of fresh dryer sheets raises the question.....why do i always smell fresh dryer sheets??? If you insist on coverups, then using a SMELL naitive to your room is much more stealth....like a dead dryer sheet douced in your fav cologne or deoderant....smells like YOU!!! no cause for alarm there.

Then there's Light blocking from fan holes, and intake holes therory 101.....lemme know when you want ideas for that.

I'd like to see pics of your purposed grow space i'll be able to better help you that way.

this is my first pc build and grow so there is room for improvement which is why im here will someone give me advise on anything like do i realy need to give nutes. at all stuff like that guidelines if you will:joint: currently im using 1 100 watt cfl semms to be working and im also using miracle grow potting mix i know u get what you pay for but if i had the money i would just go buy a bag also enjoying the hobby is great too. try'n to be self efficent the green ain't so cheap round here

here is a lil tip for my fellow growers a good queit way to ventilate your pc is with a xbox 360 intercooler in my case it fits perfect i have two of the they each have 3 fans and both also have heat sensor so when it feels it gets too hot they will turn on and the plus side is it plugs right in to the wall there is no wireing smarts needed it may not take alot but this is already done you plug in and your fans r ready i will have pics up shortly let me know what you think try it....i love it wish i would of thought of this sooner i will be adding these to my other grow boxes cheap to i got mine from gamestop for 10 bucks a piece

question: does that xbox fan thing work quietly? i think ill pick one up tomorrow if its only $10 but i dont want to get into the wiring it so its on half speed i just want one i can run from 11am-11pm cuz im doing a 12/12 from seed but im going to walmart right now to try and find a fan or one of thos xbox things ill post back once i return :) thanks for the help so far

yeah it's real quiet and cuz it has a heat sensor it turns off and on when needed

iight well i just got back i whent to walmart and i needed light bulbs so i pickd up a 3 pack of 26w cfls and i have one 26w cfl i found around my house, so now i jsut need the venting problem but i checkd the electronic secton at walmart and they didnt have a xbox intercooler so then i askd someone where a portalable fan would be and they said they only sell them in the summer :( so im going to go to canadian tire tomorrow and find a fan type thing i can use, im just going to say i need a fan for my lizard cage becuz the light makes it too hot just thought thatd not cause suspison

i really wish i didnt have to by a fan(N) could i not just buy one once the smell starts and just leave the holes as passive in/out take? that would work until i buy a fan right?

hey i got the veg box from pcgrowcase i already have 2 fans .. was thinking bout adding some but where would i put these ??? put them inside the box??

well most fans even small ones r hard to fit and if it does takes up alota space go to gamestop they would be cheaper and would have a better selection they might even have used ones everyones pawning things off bt what works best for you

Yea you gotta have fans all the time, to strengthen the stock, but also the plant needs to breathe too. photo synthesis converts gasses, which means the air should be replaced in the container every 20 min. NOW you could have your fans off IF YOU MUST during lights OFF.
