Dude seriously, if your not going to take the advice being handed to you here, and keep asking the same question, then just go a head and do what you think will work....but we're all telling ya....NO. You're relying strictly on the Convection of heat going out the top hole creating negitive pressure in the cab which will draw a slight amount of air in....BUT NOT ENOUGH....expecially for 3 cfl's it's not a recipe for healthy plants. You need th VENT THAT HEAT..and the plant needs to breathe.....if you try to cut this corner.....you will be wasting your time trying to grow. I suggest having the majority of your setups run time take place while your sleeping if your so worried about running fans.

This was a COOL IDEA. Thanks for posting this. Not enough people think outside the box so to speaqk these days. ONE you have implimented your intercoller into your box, would you post a picture here for all to see that'd be great. ALSO for anyone else having trouble finding fans....USE YOUR THINKER...fans are everywhere, wal mart puts desk fans away for summer to bring out the cheap heaters but they have fans in them. Just take out the heating coil and BAM...I personally get my fans at an ARMY SURPLUS STORE. Fans of every different KIND. I buy regular PANAFLOW PC fans for $2.50CAD

if a pc fan is making a slight rattling sound does that mean its dying? i dont think its moving as much air as it used to either. probably gonna get a new one.

you can get pc fans at BEST BUY too, thats where i got mine. the 80mm are 8 bucks and pretty quiet. if you wanna be stealth and quiet look for fans with noise ratings UNDER 25-30 decibels(dB), with the highest CFM (cubic feet per minute). all pc fans should tell you these ratings on the back, if you cant find it ask or find another one cuz you dont wanna risk it. you will need at least 2(intake/exhaust)

go to and electronic store and get 2 ac-to-dc power adaptor thats 120volt input to 12volt output. if you need help give the employee the exact info i just said. if they ask what for just say a fan. thats exactly what i did, its not gonna be suspicious and theres no reason for them to think anything illegal so DONT WORRY! oh and theres some threads about wiring them up, just search "pc fans" and if you cant find it PM me and i'll be happy to help.

trust me man you NEED fans! i said the same thing as you and the temps got WAY over 100 deegrees. CFLs arent hot enough to burn but the sure do make it warm as fuck in there! you're plant wont grow in that heat. this step is not very expensive and WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! cannabis is a weed, but you cant half ass growing ANY kind of plant and hope to get something good

Well check first how it's mounted.....if it still rattles without, dust may be built up heavier on one blade more so than the others, if so clean all blades. IF not then the berings is going, and it's a sign it could just stop on you one day. But usually they get way noiser and groaning before that happens.

I think for you to fully understand, you need to read the grow FAQ. That button at the top of this sites home page. BUT on another note.....why don't you throw ALL the lights on in the CAB EMPTY, and monitor the temps over a 12 hour period. IF for some bizarre reason you find it stays below85F....then you could get away with possible opening the door a bunch of times a day...but a consistant environment is much more benifical. You may also possibly not need fans for the first 3 weeks....but you will have to shake the stocks of your plants several times a day otherwise they will stay lean and fallover sideways when the leaves get too big.

Good advice here, except he only needs ONE Ac/Dc 12 volt adaptor. Both fans can be wired to the same one with no problems.
And for people just joining.....SERIOUSLY PEOPLE.........
you shuld NOT have to spend over $30 getting suppilys for a small cab grow.
CHECK SALVAGE WAREHOUSES, LIQUIDATION WORLD, SALVATION ARMY, THRIFT AND SECOND HAND STORES, GOOD WILL, FLEA MARKETS.....i BUY nothing new NEVER!!!!!! And it's not hard.....ESPECIALLY FOR CANADIANS...these shops are EVERYWHERE!!!!!!

thank rockstar n sarg iimma try best buy but i reallly want one of those intercooler things for xbox cuz i toke one outta my old stearo and ired it then it was sooo loud and burnt out in 10mins of running and it said it was 80mm but idk ill try my best thanks again +rep to u both

Hey man, you're on your way...Now I would take the WHOLE THING APART...(unless you figure you can use the cassis), And completely unmount the fans. So you have JUST the fans...mount them in your box accordingly.

NOW VERY IMPORTANT!!!!
You must look on the fans for a Voltage rating...you must match the voltage with a Dc adaptor of the same voltage.
your other fans that burnt out was a result of too much power that why it was so loud. A cool idea would be to find one of those adjustable multi adaptors. Something From like 1.5V up to 9 or 12V These ones can act as a speed control, as you lower the voltage, the fan speeds lower. Could make things easy for silenceing....justa thought


Will likely read somthing like this : 12V 0.12A or 5V 0.09A

Pay no attention to the Ampreage rating...You only need to match up voltage in this situation.

To cut holes specific to the fan itslef, I use a pencil and stick it through the blades to the outer edge and trace the circular pattern where i want the hole to be, then i cut it out.

hey, i just unmounted the 2 fans and they still work they had 2 side light things to i just cut em off but the good part is THIS THING COMES WITH A ON/OFF SWITCH AND A ADAPTOR so i dont gotta match anything i just have to mount them in my box but hey if i have the fans on only when im home 3pm-11pm then would that be ok? cuz im doing 12/12 from seed cuz i have not alot of hight to grow in but the fans make A LITTLE noise not noticable by being in another room but deffiently noticable if ur in my room n since i live at home with 2 noisy parents that put my clothes away after they get washed if one comes in my room then im screwd so i wantd to only have them on for the tiem im home so i can just talk over the fan noise would that work ? 3pm-11pm?

n i already cut 2 holes (one intake and one outtake) in the back of my box BUT they fit only thing is i made it a circle hole not a square so its a little big but im just gonna put black electric tape over the holes

I struggle with this too, but believe it or not, just upping the humidity in your room helps let alone in the closet.....that's the best way.....if your going to do it in the CAB, then I use hamster shavings in a bowl, and soak then down, really helps in small cab grows.

not sure if this works but i read up somewere that ome kid on RIU kept having noise bleeds and his doctor told him it was becuz his noise was always dry and try this: leave a bowl of plain water in ur room and it will raie the humidity becuz the water evaporates so theres more water in the air : causeing more humid air so it would make the kids noise not so dry any way point is try to just keep a bowl of water in ur closet maybe a bucket depending on the size of ur grow keep it in there for 2 days and see if the humidity rises

Do you mean to say Nose Bleeds? If not whats a Noise Bleed?
