Simple as that eh? No, its not...Econ 101: There is no such thing as a free lunch. If the hospitals are running a deficit, somebody is covering the cost...its that simple.
Thats not true, there are more MRIs in The US than anywhere else in the world. Unless you meant, MRI procedures...which may or may not be true...I don't really know.
Ummm, hello? Not every single man, woman, and child get an MRI every year, not even fuckin close. The fact is, that most MRI systems in Japan don't even break even, let alone make any profit. SOMEONE IS COVERING THE COST.......WHO COULD IT BE???????
I meant the MRI scan, not the machine, and yes they have twice as many MRI scans performed each year than we do here.
Their system isn't a FOR PROFIT system, so making a profit isn't the intent.
Like I said, the government lets the hospitals run at a deficit if need be.
The average monthly premium in Japan for a family is less than $300 (and if your employer helps pay, they pay around 50% of that).
Who picks up the "deficit"? Why, the government does! And at the same time their premiums manage to stay much lower than ours, and everyone is covered.
