MH/HPS Combo for rotational grow, optimal?

So this is what my indoor sun looks like. Raptor dual 8" with Digilux 600 MH in one and a 600 HPS in the other. They're fired by Lumatek ballasts. I run 5 plants in a X pattern, rotating them daily so that exposure is in theory equal. Up close, this gets a little hot, even with the 8" Hurricane running full force. To far and you lose penetration as we all know. The sweet spot seems to produce very dense, very sticky, tasty and aromatic buds that I simply cannot complain about. Trying a little more aggressive lollipopping this time around so I'm hoping to see some good results!

I'm a fan of the raptor and hope to get one in the next year. I like how you can run two bulbs for true duel spectrum. I wanted one but could not find a resonable price with shipping at the time they were still new.

How tall to you grow em'? I've heard mix reviews but for the most part a raptor is ment for plants no taller than 3 feet? Or does the extra bulb in there help with that?

I ended up with a block buster 6" with a Galaxy Amp 1000/600/400 ballast for diverstiy as my area has crazy weather swings from triple digits in summer down to double digit negitives in the winter. So 1000 in winter and 600 or 400 in summer.

3 ft is about optimal. Where mine is hanging I have about 66" of space between floor and the glass panel. I can't easily adjust it's height, so I adjust the floor instead. Right now my pots are about 14" off the ground and my tallest cola is 9" from the light. Rotating them as I do they are always getting different light from different angles and sources every day. I also do some light defoliation around week 5 of flower to help increase light penetration and airflow. Here's how it's looking now..

It be a lot easier just have the light spin or move than to rotate the plants manually. Since the light is stationary all the shorter plants will generally be in the center anyways and those ones will receive the most light and more dual spectrum lighting as well.

That might be easier, but you point out the problem with your own statement. Plants in the central location will always be getting a blazing blend of the 2. Hence why I move them instead of the light. :)

Never bloomed under Digilux 600mh, do you think it benefits more then running another HPS? I like the setup. Strange that the hurricane doesnt keep up with only 2 600's though, friend runs 4 600's in 4 blockbuster hoods with 1 8'' hurricane and only hits 76f.

I have bloomed under 2 HPS in the past and just didn't seem to have the same density and tric production that the dual spec runs have had. The hurricane does just fine, it's my ventilation that is the real problem. This room was used for something that required exhaust in the past and was already piped with 4" pipe going outside. I lost some efficiency where I had to taper down from 8" to 4", so essentially I have some hot air returning to the room that I just can't seal completely off. Got it to where I rarely go over 75F now.
