There is no versus when it comes to MH and HPS. One, Metal Halide is for the vegetative growth stage and the other, High Pressure Sodium is for the flowering stage .. you use both .. period, the end.

Anyone who uses them in any other way either cannot afford what is needed, so they pick one and hope for the best, or they do not know enough about plant needs to post a valid comment.

I am a noob so I started inside, but then I didn't realize how big they would get so I had to stick them outside haha. good thing it was flowering time outside.

also i am not a salesman for sun pulse lol. i just have done alot alot of research. For example did you know that thc reacts mostly to uv/uvb rays. the trichomes react to many things to protect itself from environmental conditions. major things are low humidity, wind, and the most important factor in the creation of big trichomes is uv rays. the plant during its final stages actually create a top layer on its trichomes to protect strictly for uv light. I found a graph about it today from icmag and will post the link after i find it again. The uv rays which is invisible to human eyes and found mostly in high blue light sources such as a 10k bulb is perfect for intense resin production. When i first started growing i did not research as much as i do now. Because of this i got to say that i have not grown to my potential. WHo would think the level of science involved in best bud protection was so intense.

Outdoor plants have nothing to do with hps or mh unless one uses them in the beginning stages to get a head start on your season. I had only posted that outdoor picture because ADTR said they looked a little thirsty in an earlier pic i postedwhen they were inside. but I wanted to assure ADTR that they were just sleeping and wanted to throw a pic of the outdoor to show their progression from HPS hortilux veg to Outside flower. It was a kind of side off topic post.

Quite true. It makes it all the more interesting though. The UV aspect is why I am so interested in MH. I did a little research of my own and I found that the hortilux problems in fact affect the bigger watts like 600 and 1000. It is supposedly fine on a 400. Lumatek however recommends that one uses Ushio, Agro sun, or Sylvannia with their ballasts. I took a look at Ushio and they have a really n ice lumen output. In fact their MH blue puts off more lumens than hortilux's blue(400w comparison) Sun Pulse definitely intrigues me. I really like the idea of their 3k MH, so you can achieve UV output for your whole grow. I also love the idea of the 10k bulb.

I am having a hard time finding that article about uv and trichs but yea i was dedicated to hps cause of the heat issues. MH gets hotter but now that is not a issue so with these bulbs i will switch to mh when the time allows. I am planning a growing withing the next 6 months with 4 600 watt ballasts. I grow for personal use and because of that i am planning on just growing 4 plants 1 to each light in 20 gallon pots. All green house seeds. white widow, kings kush, white rhino, and haze number 3

Holy shit 1 plant to each 600w in 20 gallon pots! I would love to see how massive those girls will get! I grow for personal use as well. I just recently purchased a 4 x 4 x 7 grow tent. I am about to start up my next run soon, and I am doing some lamp research so I can maximize my potential as well. last time a grew Train wreck, tsunami, purple ponic, and maui, but I think Im going to stick to one strain on the next run. I was thinking about trying out Lemon Skunk, or DJ shorts blue berry. I really want to try out that 10k bulb to see if it truly produces the mass quantities of extra resin it claims

yea i mean i am saving up money for the setup i want. It will cost alot but i will get about 7 grows out of it. Have you seen the greenhouse grow vids with arjan. He doesnt have all his plants but he has the ones that i will grow except king kush. He gets a huge yield from one plant. more then i do with my multiple plants. Learned a lot from all my research. I will be using co2 along with those lights and its funny you mention the grow tent i am gonna order a 7'11" by 7'11" by six foot seven high grow tent. I mean because its personal bud i want it the best it can get. I want to be able to grow a large amount with a few plants. Another tipping point is the mix packs of seeds. I was gonna go with the attitudes pic and mix seed choices but all i have to do is order two packs of 5 seeds each to get what i want. But if i for sure go with the king kush thats a extra 5. so 15 seeds and 11 dif strains

if you had to choose one or the either.. HPS is for sure the way too go. produces twice the red light as MH at the same wattage. the plant uses so much more light during flowering. i use only 2100k-2700k light during the whole life cycle.. Gives me this result after 20 days flowering..

did you see the past posts...I use hps but the sun pulse gives you a 3k light...which is very very close to the hps red spectrum. Nice plant btw

i use hps right now but seriously i wouldnt be in favor of mh is i didnt research....the uv light that it produces is the best for trichome production...esp when you have a 10k bulb for the final week of flowering. Fish tanks use ten k and more bulbs because they have very high uv ratings. thc responds to uv rays alot, creating big big trichs

if you are showing that the plant doesnt use the higher kelvin to grow you are correct. But that is why you use the 10k light during its last week or even a week after you think its done. The uv light is invisible to human eye and has a wave length of 400nm or less. that wave length is where uv rays are found. You shouldnt use a 10kelvin bulb during flowering but you should switch to 10k when you are almost donee cause it produces maximum trichs.

Not saying it can't be done, but why. It is a simple fact of Spectrum and the Spectrum's of MH and HPS are NOT the same. One is not better than the other, ONE Is use for a certain Phase, and the Other is used for a certain Phase.

umm you said nothing that contributed. From what you said i would love to grow with a little sun that i can pull into my grow room. Light even a sun thats only 3 inchs in diameter would be great. however the convo is what is better. Not hey they dont compare. Alot of thing do not compare but they are useful for things more then the other

IT SHOULD SAY Mh + HPS.
Because that Equal's success YEah i was a dick but the point is WHAT is the point to MH VS HPS.

Its Obvious HPS is the victor. If you want bud.
If you want less bud go use ur MH have a larger plant with less, and smaller bud sites.

and maybe i should of stopped their and never said anymore? who knows all i know is if im going to be putting money into this then i might aswell do it right the first time.
