How is she lookin now?
Hi SICC,

Well we have a major outbreak of spider mites in the ganja box! I;m at just 6 weeks 12/12 tomorrow and have taken some drastic measures so protect Delia.

I have trimmed away a lot of lower infested leaf where the webbing shows as thats where they breed. I have also trimmed out a lot of the centre growth as its worse there. The 6 main colas are relatively untouched though, so I'm working with a small brush dipped in honey to remove any mites I can see with a glass! So far so good, its keeping them at bay. I have painted honey around the stems to stop them climbing to the main tops, they get completely stuck if they touch it. She should be OK and finish BUT her condition has suffered a little.

I need to isolate Delia and do a total rebuild/clean down before the new clone 'Trinny' goes anywhere near it. To that end I'm thinking about retiring this old box and utilising a new more solidly built cabinet.

Such is life :-)

I'll add pics of Delia here later today, buds are still swelling nicely at least.

Tam, I'll go check your thread mate.

CFL+ Thanks for the comments :-)

Considering all the amazing grows i have seen in all your threads for about a year now (those NL lights outdoors pic is one of my fav) and also watched your rep sky rocket because of this lol, one problem is pretty damn good. And also this aint no problem it's a blessing. It give you a chance to really kinda upgrade a little(mites). Hope all goes well with those little bastards---never heard the honey method but sounds pretty smart seeing as they cant really pass it. Lookin forward to pics:leaf:

Thanks PBF, and for sticking around through the grows :-)

Yesterday I stripped everything out of the box, fans, bulbs everything and thoroughly cleaned with a gentle bleach solution. Delia was then taken outside (warm sunny day but strong breeze) and given a good feed and water for plenty of run off. The buds got wet too so I left her out for a 'blow dry' :-) I then went over her thoroughly witha brush/honey and removed as many mites as I could see, under the leaf. The level of infestation this morning is much improved..... I will continue this daily battle until she finishes!

These pics were taken last night, 6 weeks 12/12. I need to nurse her through at least 2 more weeks to see those buds swell, 3 weeks would be perfect, but I may settle for 2!

'Trinny' the clone is taking off now and clear of mites, shes on 18/6 and spending days on the window sill as its been sunny.

Thanks gumball, its sad to see her looking so thinned out, i'm drying the centre buds that I removed, wont be wasted, but yes she looks somewhat ragged and it will impact on yield but a dry OZ will keep me happy, we're still only 42 days into 12/12 and the mother was harvested at day 63 so the best is yet to come if Ican keep those mites under control.

This is a latest pic, the treatment has perked her up somewhat

Edited: to add a shot of 'Trinny' just after I topped her today. I don't normally top my plants but I'm planning on keeping this one small to see what I can do.

Hey ms, I feared the worst after your description but she still looks regal.
I recently saw someone use some neem oil called genius directly in with the feed of plants at a similar age to treat thrips. It was pretty effective & had no discernible effect on the bud, might be worth looking into.

Hi V12:-)...... few days on and shes doing OK. I thoroughly treated the clone 'Trinny' with the SMC (see pic below for product), and I also removed almost ALL lower growth from Delia and sprayed the bottom half of her as well. I then went over as much as I could of the upper leaf etc with the SMC and a brush!!48hrs later and mite action is way reduced, barely anything moving under a glass :-) The SMC is organic and works by suffocating the mites respitory system (so it claims). Cost £12 for a small bottle. 'Trinny' is 100% clear. I had planned to repot on Tuesday and bang her into flower but we'll see how the mites go.

tamjam: Hi mate, I'd still like to take you up on that kind offer :-) I'll email you after this update, cheers.

DAY 45 TODAY of 12/12 -Latest pics, you can how heavily shes been trimmed up 'downstairs' :-)

(PLease remove large images if quoting, cheers)

she looks really good even after a mite infestation. keep up the good work man.
Thanks JS, I'm confident that she will be ok.I'm repeating the treatment every few days to break the breeding cycle but the SMC does seem to work, thats for sure.

Cheers V12 and SICC, we're getting there slowly!

Quick pic of 'Trinny' today, repotted and tied over slightly, she was topped a few days ago and lower growth is coming on well now.

Also today I received a gift of 4 x Snow White clones by Nirvana, real beauties these :-) Still strong and healthy despite 24 hrs in the post!! I'm pretty excited about this strain :eyesmoke: HUGE thanks to 'tamjam'. Heres the Nirvana description:

" Nirvana's Snow White is one of our top-notch selections from the “white" marijuana seeds family. Her pure Cannabis Indica father gives Snow White a denser stature than close relative White Widow, making this F1 hybrid a big yielder indeed. Its plants bear dense sticky buds covered in trichomes. These marijuana seeds are well suited to cultivation in hydro or similar systems. With its lovely smooth taste and powerful Indica stone, Snow White is one of the nicest Widow variations available."

You can see the mother plants here:

Will update Delia onThursday:-)

Hi MS so glad they made it to you ok :-P i actually took the cuttings about 8pm on sunday night!!! and had them sealed up an hour after! so how many hours is that? going by what time you unpacked them.

could you tell them apart? the mutant cuttings had the funny node spacing. and when they grow bigger would you get the same as what my plant has done? with the four nodes at the same place.

any way mate very excited to watch you grow them out:-P

cheers
