Matmans new show. PIMP MY CLOSET! PICS

So I've slowly been getting into growing.
Today we moved from a cabinet with had a small grow space, about the same cubic feet as the closet spot, but it was a lot more inconvenient, and I couldn't put in an HPS, and it was smelly.
So today, we pimped my closet.

Of course, the first step is to clear out the area and paint.
Flat white paint cost me 5 bucks, and I had a paintbrush.
I just used one coat, it does the job.

Next is to get your parts together.
For venting I was going to just cut a hole in the ceiling and put one of my fans up against it, but when I was at the hardware store looking for ducting, I found this bathroom vent fan and it was only 12 dollars!! Moves 50 or 60 cfm.

Of course, my HPS light that I've been so excited about.
150 watts, I plan on getting 1 more.

Kids dont try this at home, this is grown man work getting into the attic and mounting/wiring this kind of light.

Because my closet spot only has about 3 feet of height I mounted the light in the corner, and plan to put one more in the other corner.
Besides that, there will be alot of fluoro and cfl supplemental light.

Cut a hole for the fan, and also for an outlet we put in the corner.

Close up

Fan is finished.

Of course, get your timer on there, we ran into some spacing problems.. so dont mind all the weird extension things.

Almost finished, need some parts to get it finished so temporary look.

Closer.

Done!

ohhh what ?

Plants

Thats all for now.
I hope you all enjoyed this, and maybe this will help you out if you plan to do some growing.

Comment and let me know what you all think!!++

ya, nice work but that won't be enough room for when they get older unless you switch to 12/12 very soon or chop a hole up into the attic. hehe

Looks good! You need to start flowering asap cause those babies are going to get big quick.

He will have more highth because his hps lights are in the corner of the area all of the other lights should not give a problem for the plants. I would probley top of lst them this way when you flower you can have only nice thick buds and no streching.

My last harv. I grew a 12" plant and got 2oz. Yes 12" tall. But it was all buds and there where like 10 coloa sites.

Damn Logan that sounds nice, what different techniques did you use?
I have the ability to lower the whole closet about 6 inches if I need to, but it would be kind of a pain.
I was thinking I could scrog it and then I wouldn't really have to worry about the height that much.
LST sounds good, I was kind of messing with one of them the other day to see how flexible they were, not very.
I guess the way to start is to tie a string on one side holding it tight there, then about that string another one pulling it the other way to begin the bend, and then more making it go around in a circle?

Hey 44444.

I used a three gallon container, and drilled small holes every 1" - 3" then got some string and started tying them down. I found it easier to tie the plant first and then go to the pot, this will allow you to have more control over the amount of tention. Allow it to grow for a few days or until you see more branches and repeat.

How much space do you have? You will want more light right on top or over as close as possible to the plant so the buds become dense.

You don't have to go in a a circle. You can tie them down to what you want them to do.

Here take a look

There is about 3 feet of total height in the closet, the pots alone go probably 1 foot, and the hps light drops down probably 6-8 inches. Thats why I didn't put it on top because I thought I would burn my plants if they grew anymore.
Mounted on the size I figured I could move the pots closer to one side, or to the far left if they needed to not get burned.
I was thinking I could use cfl side lighting and just rotate the plants in a circle to keep them from tilting severely.
What do you think?

It will work for awhile. But I would get some two foot fluorescent tube sytems and put them right on top of them.

I like most of the these bulbs. But the cfls put off heat were the fluo do not. You dont have to worrie about your plants burning with fluo.

The thing is I use fluo cfl and hps. I have six 4' tubes and 12 cfl daylight bulbs (blue spec in vegg stage) for my vegg clone area the flower area has a 600w system.

How wide is the area 6'. You can use 4' tubes. I think you will be able to get 4 tubes aswell.

Walmart has them for two for 10 bucks. Daylight is the name. and the fixture is only 12 bucks. So 55 bucks or so and you have lights for the veg time.

Just start to train them early.

I also always tie down the bottom of the stem so you don't pull the plant out of the container.

Nah I couldn't fit 4' tubes in there. Maybe, but I think its 46"
I have a cabinet in my tv stand that I was using before, that I think I might turn into my vegging area, and use the closet for flowering.
The cabinet is about 2.5' cubed so its got room from a couple 2 foot fluoros and should be enough for sprouts and clones.
I just had to get my plants out of there because the venting, which was two pc fans that had a carbon filter pad on the back, that was just venting into my room, and it was getting pretty stinky, even with just small plants.

The closet is a lot better with ventilation, and all the smelly air just goes into the attic.
And when I start to flower them if the smell gets really bad I can add more exhaust power, but for now, I can't smell a thing.

I'm wondering how long until I should flower.
I just dont want to flower soon because my yields will be so small.
I would like, at least like an oz. for these 3 clones.
There are two plants in that little green pot, they grew from seed, I dont really care about them, they are from bag weed, just kind of growing those because I had them.
But yeah, I want the clones to do well.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the LST (tie down) methrod works for all strains, I think it just becomes difficult if you wait and the stems get very stiff.

You should be able to train all stains. This is not a hard thing to do. Our plants are not that fragile.

You should wait until your plant is big enough. Just do a little at a time.

How old are they. If from seed you want to wait until they are matured (8 weeks or so).

If they get to tall you can just top them.
