Material for DIY Adjust-A-Wing

After much contemplating I have decided to try out the Adjust-A-Wings in my new 6k garden. However, I feel that the $180+ price tag is way too much so I would like to attempt a DIY project.

I think I have the construction concept down but I am unsure of what type of material to go with. I remember reading a thread a while back where someone posted a link to a website that had tons of different types of german aluminum sheets with high reflectivity. Does anyone know of such a website? Even better, does anyone know exactly what type of material the adjust-a-wings use?

So far this is the best I have found: http://www.specialty-lights.com/reflective-sun-sheets.html - but i feel there is something better out there. The Adjust-A-Wings claim to use some sort of a glass coated material.

Thats just aluminum with a stippled finish. I forget the exact name for that type of finish. Go to home depot and get some sheet aluminum, it'll be alot cheaper.

http://igrowhydro.com has them they call them sun sheets. They are 2'x4' and is the material used for metal reflectors. But at $154 a sheet you might be better off just buying the Adjust-a-wings. You could use a different type of aluminum but willl it be as effective. I have an adjust a wing medium with a 600 hps on a light mover in a 10'x7' space it does awesome.

check out the link in the OP - it is the same sun sheets at same price but come in packs of 4. so that's 4 2x4 sheets - i havnt checked out specs on dimensions of the large adjust-a-wings but im thinking i could probably get 2 reflectors per sheet. so that's 8 reflectors for $154 :D

Sweet, I did not see that. The adjust a wings are made from two pieces aluminum and then fastened to eachother to make the two wings.
It will be easier to bend a single side at a time rather than trying to bend that double parabolic shape on a single piece. Then they could be riveted together. Bending could be achieved using a suitable sized length of 12" pvc pipe. Then you could get a light receptacle for an adjust a wing and mount it up. So, what are you waiting for? See now you got my brain churning.

The large reflectors are 28"x 36"-40". The mediums are 22"x 24"-27". There are various lengths available but widths are standard.

i'll be making 6 of these in the coming weeks. Ill definitely record my progress. Good idea about using 2 sheets instead of bending just the one.
