I made the suggestion in another thread that the vendor who first comes up with the ability to offer them at custom sizes could totally exploit the Mars/Galaxy/generic chinese owner market.

It isn't like you would ever need more power than the original drivers put out since we are trying to reduce power consumption. SO you have a case, some drivers and a space for a light engine.

It would be nice , i got some old blurple lights that i use to grow lettuce, once they start burning out i would like to reuse the cases and as many components as possible (yes i am that cheap)

Be careful with that single cob. You could end up overdriving it if you don't use some current for the other loads. The label doesn't say if it's constant current or voltage. If constant current you will end up with a 240 watt cob. :(

You can do it now if you want to do some work. Just get the plate cut to size for the case and mount some LEDs to it. Cobs, strips, monos, combinations, whatever suits your fancy.

yeah i saw that a few months ago.. that's what got me thinking about it. it's a great video. growmau5 has a 7 part series about converting/building them on youtube.. part 3/7 (which goes over lighting) is missing unfortunately - something about copyright issues i believe. still a ton of useful info.

i just started dabbling in this stuff, still pretty new... i've only heard of quantum boards once or twice.. but now you're mentioning them again so i feel like i should look into them more. :)

I converted two Mars reflector 96's with 6x cxb2530's per fixture, it was a great conversion and miles better than its standard blurple diodes. If I was to do it again I'd use Citizen Clu048 1212's. Spec'd pretty much the same as the cxb3590's but with a much nicer price tag.

Quantum boards are also a good option
