Marijuana to treat Alcoholism

I have been using marijuana for quite some time now to battle a long struggle of severe alcoholism and it[MJ] has been the only thing that has ever been able to turn me right off the booze. This, in essence, saved my life. During my years of alcoholism my life was spiralling out of control going from job to job, relationship to relationship and losing friends and family at a ridiculous rate and depression, stress and anxiety hit me hard because of it. It seemed like I had hit rock bottom with no way out, no light.

It wasn't until a very special someone showed me the healing powers of Marijuana that I realised that there is SO much more to life.
Since I started using marijuana therapeutically about two years ago I am nearly completely dry with no signs of a relapse or anything of the sort. I have a few drinks here and there but I always have control. Not only that but I am now in the longest running job I have ever had and the longest running relationship. Marijuana turned my life completely around and I feel better than I ever have in my life, LITERALLY.

Of course all good things have to come to an end sooner or later and my "source" disappeared. So, like any person who needs healing and no longer has access to it I went to see my doctor to get a "prescription". I told him my story of how marijuana turned my life around by not only getting me off the booze but opening my mind up to enjoy the wonders of our life in so many ways. I went in with high hopes and they were soon shot down by the complete lack of interest by my doctor when he heard the word "Marijuana". He fed me the typical bullshit line about how the guidelines set by Health Canada wouldn't allow it.

I know for a fact this is a load of shit because there is a specific form, Form B2, (which I brought to the appointment) for people who do not have MS, a spine injury, a spine disease, cancer, Aids, HIV, arthritis, epilepsy or that are terminally ill and in severe pain. This form looks identical to Form B1, except for instead of having boxes for the above said conditions there are just two paragraphs, one for "Medical Condition" and another for "Symptoms". My doctor continued to feed me these generic lines about how he could not sign the papers and how no other doctor in town would.
This is clearly ignorant nonsense and I need to know what I can do. I live in Southern Ontario and I didn't know if anyone out there in Marijuana Land knew a doctor who will sign these papers somewhere, anywhere in Ontario.
Any help would be greatly appreciated even if you don't know of a doctor around.

Just any support, advice or comments would be great.
thats just waht tjhose fags at AA say like treating your problem by doing something different than achohol like HEROIN! as long as they get you to stop doing alcohol they are happy n get paid

but idk smoking weed to treat a pre-existing proplem is called "self-medication"

Does anyone know anything about getting a pschologist/therapist to sign "med papers" or at least getting a letter of reccomendation for your doctor?
Yes, they are even worse! Obviously there are exceptions, but last time I heard, the DSM IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders - for Psychology) considers the state of being "high" a mental disorder... If you tell your story to a shrink, they'll turn it around and try to treat you for you "Marijuana" addiction, too...

Ok so all we ask for is the right to self-medicate. Nobody knows our body and how substances effect us better than you know yourself. Why is there a problem with a substance that does no harm if it's ok to do the same thing with man made drugs? Whats the difference if I pop a paxil and some percs everyday with the blessing of the Dr. even though pain pills eventually cause me more back pain then the pain I started taking them for in the first place. Most meds other than pain related meds give me other side effects almost none of which was were cool to deal with. Some lasted weeks for meds I'd been taking for over a year. That is another huge problem with that whole class of drugs used to treat depression. I kept being told "you have to be on them for 6 months to see any real affects" and without exception every drug I was prescribed eventually ended with me stopping after having some seriously bad experience while on the drug.

Call me hooked too I don't really care what you name any of it just make it legal!

They can't tell me I'm addicted to marijuana. If anyone knows a thing or two about addiction I do. Booze is just the drug I ended up on because it was legal. in my younger years I used everything under the sun, on a daily basis. you can only do that for so long until you crash and turn to booze. I know what an addiction is and marijuana isn't addictive. I guess you could say its addictive to the people it treats, but isn't love and healing addictive to anyone?

My underlying condition is depression and it's funny to say that I didn't know that when I started this thread and thats why it is called "Marijuana to treat alcoholism".

I'm just looking for any advice anyone has now, I think I know what I need to do.

Thanks:peace::peace:

A very dear friend of mine has been drinking a half gallon of wild turkey a day for over 10 years.Cronic alcoholic, shake's,DT's,all the great shit that come's with the addiction.Aprox 3 week's ago I finally got him to burn a bowl of Bubblicious one morning when he woke up.At first he said Hell no!I need a drink!Well I fixed him a 1oz shot glass of turkey then handed him the bowl.Poor guy couldn't even hold the damd thing! After 3 good hit's & some violent vomiting. He wanted another hit.Well this morning I dropped by to check on him.I smelled the bubble burning when I got out of the car @5:00am.There he was no shakes, not sick had only drank a pint over night & had 1 pint for today! So after 10 years of guzzling my friend has found his footing! So guess the proof is in the pudding?Just wanted to share this with everyone.Alcohol sucks! So I'm on my way back to his house with breakfast & fishing pole's.It's so nice to see this man smile when he smoke's god's gift. And now he can hold the bowl own his own.Legalize!

Call the dispensary and ask them what doctor to use. You need a MJ friendly doctor and they should have a list.

y does everyone want 2 legalize weed
the government will tax it and put more money into thier pockets to supply them with higher security that we already have enough of. They wouldent even use that money to help pay back the trillions of dollars we owe to foriegn oils.
Decriminalization is the way to go

Fried at 420,you have a point. And it does make better sense to have Decriminalization rather than legal. The political dung will never pay the debt or do whats right for the citizens. It's all about "them"not us.Thank you for pointing that out.Either way they will continue to steal from the people & try to force us to like it.

It's great to hear that Marijuana has helped others escape terrible drugs/addictions. I wish your friend all the best in his struggle.

Legalization is not necessary but I'm not against it. The only people who would be against legalization is people who are selling it illegally. Because if it is legal then we would be allowed to grow it for ourselves instead of buying a heavily taxed good.

Legalize!

I can (and do, have for years) grow my own tomatoes and other veggies. Yet I still buy tomatoes and tomato products all year long. All my neighbors can do the same thing legally yet only a couple do grow veggies. Sure a lot of people will grow their own but just like tomatoes many people will not and even some of us who do grow will still buy pot and cannabis related products from others. Part of whats cool about pot is the connections to great people cannabis can create. Like any other culture supporting others in the culture is half the fun and a great way to experience good products.

The more mom and pop an industry like cannabis is the better it is for all us mommas and poppas. ;)

Right, if it was legal we wouldn't only have have the option of buying it but also have the option of growing it yourself or obtaining it though a friend or other personal source. People say the gov would tax the shit out of it and they are probably right. So grow it yourself!
