so I was just wondering where pot came from and how there came to be so many different strains? This could be a good history lesson for people:mrgreen:

also just thinking that weed is a weird ass plant isn't it? like weird flowers, don't get me wrong it's beautiful, but just weird
Google is/was your friend...
A quick heads up though...the plant has an unbroken medicinal usage record in China for around 5000 years IIRC. But yep, do a little research and yes, hunt down Jack's book.

I wonder If you could grow a huge tree in one season then not cut it down and grow it next season,
my girlfriends ex boyfriend had one in his back yard that was alive for 4-5 years before they moved out of the house..... they harvested it every year.

Back about 28 years ago, I had a 'coffee table' book called 'Great Books of Hashish'. In the chapter devoted to Kathmandu and Royal Nepalese hash, they described the plants that were used for the hash as being 25 feet tall. The process used was to slap the heads on a large mat so that the 'pollens' ended up on the mat. Then the old ladies of the village would gather the powder and start to roll it into the signature 'balls', by rubbing it together in their hands and occasionally spitting into it to maintain the correct moisture levels. The plants were perennial, meaning they didn't die. This hash was also described as the best in the world. These guys would have known too, because they traveled all over the world to places like Morocco, Durban etc.
I just googled the title and found some links:

The Great Books of Hashish | Lawrence Cherniak | volume 1 2 3 | photos

I had book one of the series (didn't even know it was a series).

they used to be the size of a maple tree. i think if you find those genes you could make a oriinal marijuana plant. it would probibly cost money but it would be worth it. think of a %100 thc plant making over 50lbs. it could probibly be made. each branch would be an ounce. no more 50 plant grows.

can you xplain how that works to all of us? Cannabis is an annual whch meas it completes its life cycle in one growig season. In order for a plant to do what you say woul require a cannabis plant to go into dormancy over the winter. Sorry dude, but read a fucking book.:hump:

This does happen, I saw an article on on here a while ago where in Florida police chopped down a marijauna tree that was growing in some dudes backyard. He just thought it was a normal tree and had been growing for years...

The Nepalese 'hash growers' (those that grew plants for the Royal Nepalese hash) tended the same plants for a number of years. The term annual for some strains is not quite correct. Yes, most strains today are annuals, but then you wouldn't want a twenty five foot tall plant growing in your backyard would you? If you tend some of the original strains properly, you'll get a long life from them and harvest predictable strength bud for years.

If you doubt it, think of some vegetable crops that are now 'annuals' due to progressive hybridizing:blsmoke:.
