There is actually like five in the photos, there are two different plants with the buds, both MOB. The two tall ones are Orange Diesel, one of those is over 8' and the other is right behind it. Still stretching, in preflower. The other is a Gorilla Glue. I have 10 total they all are either in bud or preflower.

I'm also in Maine. Been growing here since 96'. Indoor and outdoor.. I germinate seeds first of the year, February, at new moon or full moon. Best time to pop seeds. I put them out June 1st in their final home in 100 to 150 gal smart pots, in a soil amendment I put together begining of may, outside and let it bake in the sun.. I do put a couple in ground but knowing they won't do as well. I have alot of clay and ledge so holes in ground create bowls or pockets that drown my plants. I do down to ledge or clay then put open bottomed wood boxes on top of holes for added soil depth.. totally prefer smart pots though. I have a few varietals that finish by Sept 14th ( done DONE) that I run every year. One is a Tree of Life cut that is super frosty, potent, terpy smoke. Really comes out like good indoor. Id more than be happy to share a few cuts of her with u for next outdoor season. Anyway, I hope ur outdoor is coming out great this year and finishes before the BS. Here is a couple pics of my girls outdoors here in central Maine.1st is Tree of Life keeper cut, 2nd is Kimbo kush F1 #3 Blackberry/Platinum Bubba leaner, 3rd is Kimbo Kush F2 #8 Starfighter leaner, 4th Kimbo f2 #1 Starfighter leaner.IMG_20200731_062441_424.jpgIMG_20200731_063026_243.jpgIMG_20200808_093524_176.jpgIMG_20200731_063026_240.jpg

Looking great but none of those plants will be done in 5 weeks ?

Week 17 now. These broads are starting to tower over me now--reaching toward 8 feet. When will they stop stretching?! Gonna need a ladder pretty soon. Installed another layer of trellis netting last week and am thinking they may need yet another!

Still just pistils--not really flowering. This has gotta be the week, right? If they look a tad droopy in places in the photo below it's because it's dusk and they're getting ready for bed. Just returned from a 3-day trip and ran out to check on them before nightfall.

garden-week-17.jpg

Seeing a few yellowing leaves lower down in the interior. Because of light deprivation? Perfectly normal? Not a sign of any deficiency, is it? I get one or two a day probably--I snip them off when I find them.

Still very hot and dry here. They'll get a good drink of brook water tomorrow morning.

Found 3 green inchworms tonight. I think it's time to start the bT.

Overall they seem to be thriving. Hopefully can sustain this through the fall! Excited but a little anxious.

Hope everyone is safe and doing well with their platns.

Looking good, don't worry about a few yellowing older bottom leaves. It's normal as the plants mature. Those green worms on the other hand, you don't want those.

Sprayed my first dose of bT this morning. These plants are so friggin' big now it takes a while--and I went through a gallon and a half of solution!

Hard to get the undersides of all the leaves but I did my best. Hard to reach the tops, too, on the tallest girls.

How often do you spray? bT directions say it lasts anywhere from a few days to 2 weeks, depending on weather.

I only saw 1 very small caterpillar this morning. The other day I found one that was a monster, but the others have all been tiny. Hopefully this keeps them at bay.

just watching for big rains
"Big rains"? What's that? I have a hazy memory of something like that...

Actually we had a quick afternoon shower yesterday but it didn't amount to much. Dry, dry, dry...and hot and muggy today. Feels like an August day in Houston.

I need to give the girls a deep drink tomorrow morning.

Any flowering action for you? Still nothing but a few pistils here.

Imagine being a roofer today. Holy hell that would suck.

Bad enough here in my home office in the shade.

Amazingly there's still a little water in the brook that runs by my garden so I'm able to use that. But it's just a few pools here and there, most of the bed is dry as a bone. The pH of the water was 6.5 in June, now it's 7.5 (and doesn't exactly look crystal clear, either). But beats running my well dry to feed thirsty plants. Also have some 50g barrels collecting rainwater off the house roof as backup.

Figure the nights are going to start cooling down a bit at some point here? Amazing how early it's getting dark now, and how much later the sun is rising.

These ladies have to start flowering eventually...

Since I started growing, every plant I've had outside is guaranteed to get budworms in my area. With that, and the presence of stem borers im spraying safer brand BT every 3-4 days and go through about 4 gallons each application. Cats are the worst! Usually can see a handful of moths flying off the plant when im spraying. On top of the BT I release parasitic wasps, invested in a dynatrap, use yellow sticky traps and pheramone lures for the borers. First year trying everything else and I hope it can soften the damage.
I hear that direct sunlight/any rain makes it less effective more quickly, so I spray in the evening and make sure to get it on the plants after a good storm (which has been far and few this season).
I took a prisoner off one of the plants maybe a week or two ago. He's certainly eating, but hasnt died off yet which is worrying, but I havent seen a cat on any of the plants since then so something must be working. I sprayed last night and took a few leaves off to feed to him. Just trying to see directly how effective it is and at what intervals.

About half mine are just starting to flower.

No rain here. We are officially under “drought status”. It’s so hot even the ladybugs are bleached!0E53B93A-65B2-471D-9ABD-B9F101EDA7CE.png
