Maine Outdoor 2020 (first timer)

That dark purple new growth is pretty common this time of year. I’ve seen it the last two years. It’s not anything to worry about. Best I can come up with is a deficiency when plants transition to flower. What soil and fertilizer are you using?

I wouldn’t worry about it. A few years ago, pretty much everyone I know who had an outdoor grow was seeing this purpling. Initially, I thought it was some type of infection or Phytoplasma disease so I cut a bunch of tops off. The ones I left just grew out of it and all the cutting I did just reduced my yield.

This comes up in multiple threads at this time of year. I have yet to find a concrete answer on the cause.

Glad to have you with us LadyAlthea--and glad to hear your issue is nothing to worry about.

I think I may be seeing the very beginnings of flowering today, but being totally new to this I'm not sure if I'm just projecting my eager anticipation on the plant.

Is this it? Am I finally on the train to Budville?

Yeah I wish someone actually KNEW the answer to what it is! I'm still leaning toward some type of bacteria.... hard to say for sure tho.

Strange thing...my plants in 20 gal pots are starting to flower but the ones in the 30s aren’t. Same strains. Maybe the plants in the 20s are a bit root bound causing some stress and earlier flowering? Weird.

Odd. This whole flowering thing is a bit of a mystery to me. I'm still waiting for some action (unless what I'm seeing in the photo posted above is the very beginnings).

I lost part of a branch on the Cherry Wine in Isaias the other night but that was the only damage. You get much wind up your way?

We only got 1/2" of rain out of that--it's dry as a bone here. At least the heat has backed off somewhat but it's coming back this weekend.

What you see in his photo is what I call preflower, it is the begining. I currently have 8 in this stage and two stacking up bud. Just some wind down here, very little rain at the coast.

Wind hasn’t been bad. Isaiah bypassed us. It’s been 90+ degrees for the past few weeks. Plants are loving it but I’m up to watering every two days now.

Glad the storm missed you. Sounds like your plants are thriving.

Really hoping to see some flowering in the next week--otherwise I'm going to have to nurse these gals right on into November!

I know your growing some greenpoint. The 2 strains I got out there are just barely showing pistils. They will be the last ones down for sure.

Yup, all Greenpoint. Is Stardawg a late one?

One of these, the CBD Cherry Wine, has no Stardawg--says 62-75 days flower. But even that one is showing very little at this point.

I'll just try to relax and hope to see some action next week.

It must be. I do know in my tent it took the longest to show but once it did they stacked fast

Don’t sweat it. None of mine in the 30s are showing yet. It’s amazing how quickly they progress after mid-September. One of the strains I grow is late October finisher, according to the breeder. I harvested it Oct 7 last year and it was done. The cold and frosty nights at the end really seem to speed things up.

Easier said than done! I'm gonna be a basket case by the Autumn Equinox.

I should take heart--things have gone pretty well so far (knock on wood). All the talk of bud rot has me nervous--lost track of all the people that said I'll never make it into October growing outside in Maine.

This little guy is Trainwreck I'm told. pictures of little misleading because the yellow on the top is actually a different type of plant in the back.
She was about 3 in tall when I got her, no roots oh, and just like this weird palm tree looking plume on top.
I'm such a new grower of this, I'm pretty proud of it.

The second one is my problem child. I've taken some advice that I read on here and she's turning green again instead of yellow.
She had two or three stems in a small root ball when I got her. Also supposed to be train wreck.
