Lower buds take longer to mature?

I notice on my auto-flowering that the buds lower down are taking much longer to mature than the main cola or buds near the top. The ones at the bottom still look like very young buds with lots of white pistils whilst the ones at the top are far more orange/brown and look more dense.

I also notice that there are a few calyx which haven’t flowered. Is this normal or should all the calyx bud?

Is this normal? Thanks.

The buds at the bottom of the plant are typically what people here call "popcorn buds" , since they recieve so much less light than the buds higher up on the plant, usually they don't fully mature. I believe some people remove them during vegetation so the plant doesn't waste energy on them.

I don't remove them but I don't pay any attention to them when deciding when to harvest. I toss them in with sugar leaves at harvest.

Thanks guys.

What I’ll do then is just dry and cure them along with the frosty bud leaves in separate jars and save them up.

Is it normal for some calyx then not to grow? They have 2 or 3 hairs coming out but still round fat things. Can these be saved for the ‘hash’ pile too?

Everything is good for hash except stems, and yes that just happens some budsites really do just go nowhere.

The plant will keep producing new budsites like that. The top ones would rot if you waited for them to mature. You could try harvesting the tops and leaving them but I doubt it would be worth the effort. Think of them as just comealong extras.

Just another question (didn't want to start a new thread) - I've been looking at my bud leaves and they only are about half or 3/4 covered in trichs... so I'm in 2 minds of whether to cut the whole bud leaves out as much as possible and save the whole leaves for hash or just trim off the leaves with no trichs and leave them on the bud when drying.

Any advice?

Cheers.
