uhhhhh people arent feeding them to animals. it has to do with the littering aspect of them, ......snip....
Could you explain how littering occurs without people involved?

Again I ask you WHY are people feeding bags to the wildlife? Maybe we should enforce the anti-littering laws instead of getting rid of a convenience! I am sick and tired of having cool developments hamstrung because of lazy idiots to irresponsible to use a trash can!

Further we pay these asshats on the LACC big money and they are wasting time on THIS! Our streets are a mess, literally, we desperately need road work everywhere, our healthcare has imploded and THIS was the best they could do and you are happy about this?

You do not live in Los Angeles do you? Now I was looking for the Wake n Bake thread.. excuse me....

yalls description of your city sounds pretty dirty, dont people like come at night and clean everything..most places round here have gotten off the cloth bags as theyve been deemed unhealthy, i think we should all do like that one guy and have our food brought to our house. if only walmart delivered

not annoying at all unless you love destroying the environment and torturing animals.
So.... I am old enough to remember, and I lived in the LA Basin....

Is it, the same people pushing for a 'Ban' on all plastic bags, that helpped drive our need for plastic bags, by making the use of paper bags seem 'Bad'...

"You're using a paper bag, do you know how many trees are cut down to make that bag?"

So I guess they gave up on the trees..

Exactly....
My X's kids were young actors in the 80's....
After an audition one day, I stopped at a famous market on Santa Monica Blvd, in LA for some grocery's to take home...
The old gal yelled at me:
"You got 20 bags there, do you know..."
I rolled up the power window's and cranked the music....
"What I can't hear you..."

Congrats to all you LA people for continually being awesome. Your city council finalized a ban yesterday on single use plastic bags (grocery bags), and because of it, you ROCK! Thanks for being world leaders in awesomeness. Here's to hoping the Northcoast follows your trend, our lakes are like oceans.

Are you seriously suggesting that the paper bags I'd have to use now are better for the environment? Not only is that "making lampshades" of trees that were planted where there once were forests ... but the pulp industry is famously filthy. And if you think I'm gonna carry six reusables in my car, into the store, in&out of my washing machine ... please rethink.
Now tell me about teh awesome. Really ... convince me. cn

Where do you shop that you have to wash your canvas bags?

People will resist anything won't they? To me this seems like a purely positive move. If your only reason for opposing this legislation is that it's less convenient, then you're part of the problem. Our habits are having undeniable effects on the environment, but nobody cares :(

In the parts of the bat area you have to either pay for an extra 10 cent fee for a bag or bring your own reusable.
