Congrats to all you LA people for continually being awesome. Your city council finalized a ban yesterday on single use plastic bags (grocery bags), and because of it, you ROCK! Thanks for being world leaders in awesomeness. Here's to hoping the Northcoast follows your trend, our lakes are like oceans.

I use my plastic bags and return them for recycling. I don't understand who is feeding bags to wildlife? Isn't THAT the real issue? So when are we gonna ban water because of misuse by morons and miscreants. With this PC type thought sequence trolls can end up waggin' the dog, right?

In the uk they talked about a ban but instead decided to informaly tax them instead.lol

You basically pay 5p to encourage you use your own bag or use less.

Most of the shops do this "bag for life" thing aswell. This time you pay even more, for a thicker better quality plastic bag. The idea being you take it each time. Obviously you always forget it and end up with cupboards full of fucking plastic bags that you can never throw out.

well your entitled to your opinion of course.. but i dont like many aspects, first they must be washed everytime i buy raw meat or get dirty etc. i cant just be out doing something or get of work and go shopping, i have to make a mental note to grab bags if i want to later. they still sell the same plastic bags now they sell them to make more money(nobody uses the reusable ones in my city anymore). they dont stack or tie well, many people out in the country get 800 dollars worth of groceries at a time..ugh i could keep going but my phone ate my first attempt

yeah, no more plastic bags in l.a., they're saving all the plastic in l.a. for plastic surgeries, which of course is a much better use of plastics.. :D:D:D

uhhhhh people arent feeding them to animals. it has to do with the littering aspect of them, and how they manage to get into the waterways and oceans where they look like food to animals.

"PC type thought sequence" um no. Im looking at this for an environmental standpoint. you really just have no idea do you?

The animals are saved!! (No worries, still enough man made pollutants out there that will kill them faster)

i hate plastic bags. besides the environmental aspect they just collect all over the damn apartment. i can't seem to get into the habit of remembering the canvas bags. i wouldn't hate plastic so much if the clerks didn't use 47 bags to pack a 20 dollar order. if the bags weren't such cheap shit you could throw everything in 2 bags. there's ALWAYS one hanging in a tree.

the plastic is really good for smelly trash, though. meat packaging, eggshells, produce peels, fish bones, and all that smelly shit goes in those bags and i sometimes stuff it in my freezer until trash day so i don't get bugs. one day i hope to live someplace where it's feasible to have a compost heap so most of that would be a non-issue, but for now i at least repurpose the bags at least once.

it takes small steps to get anywhere BIG. cant just expect to fix all the problems at once. be realistic and less of trolls people come on.

Why so serious? Do you walk about real life shouting troll at every joke or differing opinion? Fucking hate how that word has evolved.
