Looking For Work

Hello,

As the title says, I am looking for work. I have been outta work since late 2008. I have had a few jobs in a couple different states, nothing long term(temps positions). I know this is probably not the best place to post for a job, but my baby girl is coming and my only options are fast food places(will do if it comes down to it). I work construction, maintenance, landscaping, farming, warehouse/factory work, and i am certified in HVAC(early 2009 2 month exp.). I do not expect anything out of this but i am holding out hope. PM if you have any options. I can do ANYTHING, I can come ready with a CDL if needed. I will relocated for a decent job that i can support my wife and kid.

Thanks for giving my the time of day.

Check your local labor ready places. They usually have places that you show up and they give out temp labor jobs for the day. you get paid daily but have to work. Look around.

Thanks for the idea...i already have in my current town and a few of the surrounding. very very bad economy here. i plan i moving back down south soon, there is many temp service there, they are just not 100% reliable, i was taking a stab in the dark to see if anyone had any business oportunities for a young man looking for a new prospective career.

i am definatly reliabe and very hard working, im just a stoner.

2008??

I got ya beat man.

I've been out of work since 2006. Or was it 2007... nah it was 2006. I've still got my last pay stub and it says 2006.

I was working in the oil fields.. making around 55-60k/year. Which is alot of money for someone my age.. I started working in the oil fields when I was only 25. I'm 28 now.. and i sure miss the money.. and to be honest?? I even miss the work.. even as hard as it was.. I miss it. I just miss being able to buy something when I wanted it.. I had the money to do it.

But now, I'm 28 and having to rely on my father to make my truck payment (luckily he makes enough money to do so) otherwise I wouldn't even have a vehicle at all. When I was working for Superior Wells Services.. I was making 55-60k/yearly.. and I was young and immature with my money. I went out and bought my neighbors 2000 BMW M3 e36 coupe.. that thing was fucking BAD!! to the bone too. I also bought a brand new four-wheeler.. right off the showroom floor too.

I got laid off from the oil fields.. had my four-wheeler and my BMW (my toys!!) repossessed and my credit went from being in the high 700's down to around in the mid 600's. Ruined my credit pretty much.. but its been about 3 years since everything got repossessed.. and my credit is slowly coming back to par..

but yeah.. I too am looking for work. I've had PLENTY of a vacation.. lol. Shit get's old.. not having any money to do anything.. not being able to support myself.. just gets old after a while... and I'm ready to get back into the workforce.

But, with the economy being the way it is.. I highly doubt I'll find anything until the economy gets back in shape... whenever that might be..

anyhow.. good luck to all of you jobless people!! Wish me the same.

peace.

otr would be the last resort I think for anyone who smokes..
I thought the HVAC market was wide open with lots of opportunities?
I am about to go through the schooling for that, now I'm wondering if I should?
How come you can't find any work doing that? It costs almost 14k for that schooling here
after spending that, those people should be finding you work..

i spent 15k on schooling...i made the mistake of going through a tech school to acheive my epa universal, and hvac level 1 certs, if you are going to do this feild GO TO COLLEGE AND GET A 2 YEAR DEGREE IN THE MANY HVAC FEILDS. No company respect the tech schools, i have appleid to over 200 companies fro florida to michigan and everywheer in between...LITERALY...same story...you need experience, college degree talks for its self. the school i went to cliamed placement also.

gl to you...any help i makeing the decision im happy to help, i am planning on goin back to school for a 2 year degree myself.

wow that sucks big time and really makes no sense at all.
How does someone with a 2 year degree vs someone with 1 year of tech school matter off the streets?
If I was going to go college it sure wouldn't be for hvac.
grr back to the drawing board than I guess for some other bright idea of a career change..
thanks for that heads up and saving me a sizable chunk of change..

I'm very, very badly in need of work. I feel your pain. The things I'm good at are no longer in demand here. Been working full time for the last 22 years, this is my first experience with being on unemployment. And now congress turned it off. I'm very afraid that I'm going to lose my home.

But keep the faith, man. Something's gonna happen. We've made it this far.

dont get me wrong i LOVE HVAC...i am good at it. i am not lookign to start off at the top, i am looking fo rentry level. companies just dont respect tech schools...something about theory time of some b.s. but yes HVAC is a kinda tough market, but it is relativly easy work and pays well. gl to you.

I got fired from my previous job makeing just short of $20 per hour. for an uneducated 19 year old that was not bad pay, but they fought me every step of the way on unemployemnt even after the state promised me $350 a week...a real bummer. but i am ready to go back to work, i have been work damn near 40 hours a week since i was 10...i grew up on a farm, i'm not afraid of work.

gl to you sir best of luck.

I'm in the very same situation... This might be the first time I am late/miss a house payment since I bought my house over 5 years ago.

After smokendudes post I did some more research and everyone is saying the same thing about going into HVAC..
I'd like to know how the hell they expect you to get 5 years of experience if no one will give you the time of day..
I have been out of the construction industry to long to get back into framing. My body just isn't in that shape anymore..
This shit is seriously depressing me..

Maybe with your HVAC experience you could help make Colorado grow rooms. Just an idea, I know that Co is coming on line with medical marijuana. You could put your services on craigslist. Drive up in a very regular looking rental truck loaded with HVAC equipment, dual hose A/C units, the works. Your job would be to hook up air cooled lighting, install a/c units, maybe even do light electrical.

I saw in a ''time" magazine article about a kid in Ohio who started up a business teaching unemployed auto workers how to grow med marijuana. He's making bank, so much so he keeps it on the down low.

With this shit economy you need to figure out your strengths and capitalize on them. If you can't find a job, make your own, your boss might even treat you better.

good luck

this is not a terrible idea...i am not a profesional grower, but i do think i could pass my self off as one, and i do have the construction, electrical, and ventalation know how to construct grow rooms.

i live in michgan currently, we are legal...im not, but do ya'll think i would need to have a card to do this? any ideas?
