Lights

OK gang I have a question. Grow room is 2x2x4 I have a (4 bulb) 2 foot T5 rig(new wave hi tek T5) with two 6500K bulbs and two 3000K bulbs in the ceiling (kept right on top of the tallest plant) each bulb rated at 2K lumens each . In addition I have (4) 42 watt CFL's (home depot) in aluminum parabolic reflectors(home depot) in each corner of the room that are rated at 2700 lumens each and are in the 2700K part of the light spectrum, and one 30 watt (2700K,1800 lumen). I also adjust the lights daily to be as close as possible w/o burning.
According to my calculations that +/- 292 watts, and 20,600 lumens.
Now,the real question is, Is it enough?
FYI: lights on temp is 78-84 F, and water temp is 66-68 F.
Oh, yeah.. I need an inexpensive Co2 generator... any suggestions. dont know where to get dry ice anymore. scuba tank with regulator would be nice, but costs too much . holla' back

the cheapest you can do is yeast and some sugar water to produce co2... but this takes a bit of work to maintain too... but it is dirt cheap, won't burn your place down and no one will ask for what someone buys yeast and sugar, as far as you won't happen to live somewhere in Sweden or so:-D

I have noticed some co2 generators lately for around $125.00 supposed to last about three months. If it were put in use just at the beginning of flowering it should last. Thanx for reminding me I need to research that. I'll let you know. I'm using the sugar and yeast mixed with water of course. Iread information about it. One gallon milk jug with a wwhole in the top, tubing going to a dish of water. The air lock form the tubing in water will keep microbes out and let you know the fermentation is working.

Lights sound fine for the size of your grow room. R U planning on expanding?

Thanks Vic and Green.
I would like to expand, but dont have the room to(I have two 2x2x4 areas). Let me know what you come up with on the Co2 research(Victor). thanks to all for input.

CO2 Boost is the name of those new buckets and the site is CO2 Boost - All-natural CO2 Generators for the purpose of CO2 enrichment and air fertilzation

As far as your lighting you have 20,600 lumens/4 ft2= 5,150 lm/ft which is almost as much as you would get from a HPS, but your light isn't HID so you don't have the same amount of light penetration. According the the inverse square law( Inverse-square law - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia )you would have more lumens reaching the canopy than a HID because of the distance the light is placed from the canopy. The NEW fluorescents are amazing, so keep us posted.

Hey, I tried the co2boost bucket, it is actually pretty good. I'd buy it again...if need be. Right now I get free dry ice in 50 lb blocks, so no more bucket til after summer is over. Highly recommend the bucket.
Peace

Thanks to all for info., It is greatly appreciated.
My first crop (ever) was of bag seed , and all went well. buds were full , and potent/tasty. This was w/o Co2. Total harvest under these lights from 3 plants was 3.7 ozs.(dried). with more experience and better genetics I think this setup will work just fine.

Hi, just MHO but you got plenty of light there. As for the co2 I brew my own beer and wine, now wouldn`t it be silly not to put them right there in my warm growroom?? Sugar and water?... : p just add some of your favourite fruit or berries, theyre free and you can drink that sugar water.!
