so baught a hps lamp but i have to return it becuse the heat whas a big problem im growing in a smal area so now im not realy sure what to get im thinkin about 1 or 2 300w cfl what would you guys by need somting that is cheep and works good... Bless

I don't think they make actual 300 watt CFL's. They just make what they call equivalent which only use around 70 watts. Are you using a sealed hood with a fan to extract the heat? That will make it night and day in a small space. You don't give any real info but if heat is too big of a problem then you'll probably be best off going with LED's but even those put off heat and watt for watt the good ones put off more heat than many people think. Also, you say cheap but not how cheap. What's your budget?

Regardless of what light you get if you don't have adequate ventilation/airflow to remove the heat the problem will likely remain.

I run a 150w HPS in a small tent (2x3x5), and it does get hot as hell. Like xtsho said, a sealed hood with an inline fan pulling air directly off the fixture makes all the difference in the world.

As far as using CFL, you CAN use them, and grow a plant, but you wont get nearly the results you'd see other people getting. LEDs would probably be best for you if a small HPS is too hot, but you may still want to invest in an inline fan to vent heat out of your grow space (plus they're useful, paired with a carbon filter to remove unwanted smells leaking out of your grow area)

Problem is i have a 3x3 tent in a smal clauset i have conected the exaust air in a ventilation hole that takes the air outside problem is iv read about having a seald hood but problem is then i have to conect more fans and it geta loud and i have to have it diskret thanks fore the help yall

What W would you rekomend fore a 3x3 tent with a closed hood

hahahaha you Will probably laugh but it whas a 600w its maby a bitt to powerfull fore a 3x3 tent but what would you consider the max w hps fore that space

I’m not really an HPS person but I run 300W of COBs in my 3x3 with pretty minimal heat issues. I’d imagine about 400W would be the high sweet spot.

They’re not really the standard I don’t know.. Someone may be able to suggest you a solid LED in that price range to supplement your current LED I think that’s the route I’d look towards.

Ok tanks for the help il do some more research i whas just thinking that maby if i get the 300w cfl plus nu 100w led it would be good my last yeald whas almost 250grams and thata with just a 100w led

A cob in a closet? too much concentrated heat in a smaller area....a light spectrum more spread out I'd much rather use.

I have 5 cobs in a 2x2. They work fine.
