Only one way to test if the flame defender is still functioning:fire:........... Seriously though, my needle didn't budge a mm in a decade.

Maybe these self contained sprinkler units hold a charge longer than fire extinguishers? IDK, email the company mc.

Any fire suppression experts in this forum? Lol

Yeah, I wonder about it. I wonder if I should just replace it every two years or so, but then I wonder how long it sat on the shelf before I buy it. Maybe it's fine?

I thought by law they should be mfg dated/tagged? Don't have mine anymore

Good point, Amazon sells old shit too..... Always see bad reviews on those ten year smoke detectors only lasting 2-3

I think I'm just going to keep it for now. So, you inspired me on the wiring. I ordered a vented component box for the grow closet. On the plus side, it will hold all the drivers and the 12V power supply and get those heat sources out of the cabinet. On the bad side there will basically be a fuse box looking thing mounted on the outside of the cabinet and that will look weird.

Hey RIU peoples,

Just thought I'd give a quick update on the girl. She's been topped at the first node and topped again at the first-second nodes. This should let the branches that started at the first baby leaves catch up so they can be topped as well for 8 main branches:1.png

She's curled the leaves a little bit, I think that's because a couple hours ago I bumped up the intensity on the 3590's. Also, I think I should replace my nutrients. I recently realized they are over a year old, maybe closer to two years old, so things might be degrading a bit or pH's are moving.

So far so good though I think :)

Okay, so I decided to add about 60W of side lighting-2m of LED strip lighting. Should be shipping soon, excited to see how it works out!

Hey everyone,

I topped the lower branches at their second node and started some bending of the two mains. I also installed my light bars-they're in the corners, so you can only see part of one of them in the attached pic-the other is on the opposite corner. I haven't gotten my control box yet, so I don't have power to the bars, but I have a MW 12V, 90W driver to use. The total power draw will be ~60W, so the driver will be at 2/3 power which I hope will maximize longevity. I might add two more to the other corners, I'm not sure, but I really want to get the lower plant a lot of light without taking off leaves to minimize popcorn. Leaves are like roots-you want all of them. I was thinking about installing a COB light pointing up (I've got 3 more that aren't being used), but I'm worried about the fire hazard so I'm holding off on that...

Hello RIU peoples! Happy Halloween!

I hope you're all doing well! I got my control box in the mail yesterday. I mounted it on the back of the cabinet right below the exhaust vent. It's basically right behind the Intermatic timer on the wall on the right in the attached pic. I put all the drivers in there and the reduction in heat is massive. The main fan barely ever kicks on now and only remains on for about 20 seconds when it kicks on. I have an older refrigerator that is louder than this thing... I'm very happy :) The plant is growing quickly, probably will only veg it for another week.

Well, she's (hopefully) growing pretty fast so I decided today is the last day of veg. I haven't grown anything for a while so I think it's best to ease back into it. I've been bumping up the light intensity every day, we're up to ~70% now. Here's the last veg day pic for posterity:
