Let it grow, first time around, bag seeds

Ohhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhh :: blows out smoke ::

Your new camera takes nice pictures! Did you start your new seeds yet?

Question about the bud dryer, and general bud drying question... When you dry buds fast, does it affect taste or potency? I've heard there are ways to dry fast and ways NOT to dry fast. Just curious.

thks- i think so too. i'm really happy with it.

from what i understand your right, you have to let the sugars dry in a slow fashion so they convert the thc or something like that....

my bud dryer is not an ultra fast dryer though, it really simulates a light breeze, almost fresh air across the buds. i was hoping it would be this way, i purchased a not so fast fan and thats why. i really didnt want to string buds across the room and i got too many cats for that anyway...

just those few buds i put in there are still kinda wet, they are considerable dryer than when they went in there, but its still takes its merry time. also, if you found your breeze was too much, you could put it on a timer and have the fan only run some of the time or whatever.

and the seeds, they are going into water today.

gee wiz.. how long will it take?

almost all my trichs are smokey. some are still clear, and i don't know if i've seen any amber ones..
the time delay may have to do with my temps, it most likely has been about 5X sometimes when the lights are out.

i have a solution maybe. i'm going to look at a small propane burner. this will also release co2. like i said though, maybe. i don't have any electric to share or i would pick up a temp regulated heater.

I hear you about the trichs. When I was helping my friend with his amnesia haze plant he noticed something similar. You may be onto something about the temps. What I can tell you is, they will turn more cloudy and then amber. It seems to happen all of a sudden (at least with his plant). The other thing to do is go by the hair colors.

Yeah man, you should definitely figure out something about the temps. Once you get them stable you'll be a lot happier.

thanks mary- thats great to know. i was begining to wonder if maybe not all plants did the amber thing.. but if thats the case then it will be any day now, more likely about 1 week away. this plant is taking soooo long to flower...

as for the temps.. i have looked for small propane burners. nothing caught my eye.

i have had the veg door open which brings temps up to 60's.

my only other option is to bring the whole rig inside... yikes! if i do that i willl surely need to do a lot of work. i have the closet space, but its not like you can just put the plants in there with out a thought. i'm sure ww will smell a good bit...

i'm going to get some price for upgrading my electric...

alternatly i could run an extension cord out for the cold times and put an electric heater out there...

you know its funny the hps just doesnt produce enough heat... haha

You know, I think the extension cord is a great idea. If you want to be more stealthy, you can dig a 5-6 inch (or less) trench and cover your tracks. Just a thought.

...and about the long flowering/trich colors. My friends plant was his first grow (like yours) and it went through a lot before it went to harvest (as I said earlier in the thread). Your plant went through a lot too - but not as much - and this is the only common thread I can see between his and your grow. My guess is things will become easier to predict as you get better at growing. Low stress is a good thing.

i may have gotten an idea to fix my temps...

i can put a 4 inch dryer vent from my veg box to my flower box.

i will put an elbow or two in there to stop the light.

my veg box needs air circulation anyway.

its worth a try...

this sounds like a weekend job. maybe next year!

i just purchased a heating mat. perhaps this will warm my flowering bunches of joys soil.

its 42x20. if not it will work as a seed starting mat. i will be tackling a hell of a veggie garden this year... all started by seed.

i think it uses under 40watts and says it will raise the soil temps by 10 to 20 degrees. thats my biggest problem is the bottom of the grow area as its above concrete thats on the ground. i cant cover it up bcuz then it drives my humidity way up..

i may make that air exchange too. perhaps i can double that into a massive air cleaner for both areas...

my trichs came out a bit more also..

i gave the plant in veg a hair cut again. also topping the four top/main stems. i know i know, i have a camera but now i'm not used to it. i thought about taking a picture after i was done..

not much to see anyway. it will interesting to see what happens with this one, as it has many, many branches tightly grown. i may stretch it just a bit.. not sure yet..

Sounds like your temp problems may get better after all. I'll be interested to see if the mat works, I'm sure it will, just hopefully to the expectation you have. Other than that...I'm glad to hear about the trichs. It will be ready for harvest soon enough :).

no pics, my camera was charging and time was tight.

i will follow up in a few days wiht pics.

weight will come when its all dry.

the buds were tight and big, or at least i would say they were big, i could guess by teh size one was aobut 8 to 10 grams...

i put my dryer on a timer, it runs every few hours for 15 mins. i like it.

story over. good job dude.

Hey Pimp, Though I would stop by and update on the aero cloner. First time was not very good but the mother was in flower for a week before I took the cuttings. After a couple weeks 3 out of 6 started rooting and even though they didn't have flowers on them when I cut them they started to flower in the cloner. So I chucked them. Took 6 more off another plant that has been in veg for a few mounths. It's ICE from BC seeds. http://bcseeds.com/Indoor/c25/p45/Ice/product_info.htmllIt had not shown male or female yet but I think it might be female. It's been 12 days now on the new batch. See pics. I like it. I did put in some Diamond Nector from GH and some Super Thrive. And a couple pics of my girls in flower, should be done in about 4 more weeks. Those are two of the freebe's that came with the Ice. Pics didn't come out to good with the HPS on. But you get the idea. Looking forward to your pics.:peace:

Ya, the roots are doing really good. I did see the Elephant Bud, not cheap but sure looks good. My veg is still CFL's, 5 42 watt soft white and 1 daylight. I hope to change to MH, maybe two 150 watt in this cabinet or make another one. I'm thinking about leaving this one for mothers, clones and seedlings and making a new one for what I will call pre-flower. Finish vegging and maybe start flowering in it. I''m thinking it would give me more flower space. That way I could maybe have them in there for 3-4 weeks and then go into the larger flower box.. Trying to make the best of the space that I have and double my output I need more space but don't we all. I put one of the clones into hydro (the one on the left in the pics). I want to get it growing quick so I can put it into flower to see what it is. So if it's a male I can trash it and start more seeds to find a female for a mother
