leggy sprout problems

I just returned home from a week out of town working and found my bulb went bad and now most of the sprouts are leggy and fall over very easily if the container is bumped. I have replaced the bulb and have several new sprouts coming up but am wondering if the older sprouts will come out of this. About six sprouts are three inches tall and the stalks are smaller than a tooth pic. Should i pull them or wait and see if they recover?

Pictures are always nice to help determine problems, also a bit more information wouldn't hurt, such as what type of lighting, grow room, conditions etc.

This will help people help you to diagnose your problems, if the starts are too weak to stand on their own, try using a toothpick or something to help stabilize them until they pull through and are able to stand on their own.

should i add a fan now or wait? also i was thinking maybe i should replant in a bigger container putting the sprouts deep enough that only the leaves are showing. the lights are 14w cfl.

i have two 42w 4100k cfl's which are equivalent to 2 150w incadesent bulbs.

Yes use those lights for now, put them close as nongreenthumb stated also repot them as you stated and burry them to the leaves, they are stretching bad.

Concerning a fan, I wouldn't put a fan directly on them at this stage, if you have poor ventilation I would suggest a small osculating fan, possibly a small desk or clamp fan and place it far away as possible to avoid blowing your sprouts over.

Note: as your sprouts get bigger you will need more lighting.

just got everything replanted. i have a seperate 10'x16' room with 1-1000w mh and 1-1000w hps to move plants into when they need it. at what point do these need to be moved from the cups into the 5 gallon buckets in the grow room?

about 6-8 weeks in veg would be kool ,but yea looks way better than wut it was before , that was some major streching due to the lights being far aWAY keep em about a inch from the tops

switch to 6500k you will be glad u did mine grew 1 foot under them target sells the bulbs for the cheapist ive seen yet

(The more CFL lights the better)

I would plant them into bigger pots now, preferably in their final resting place, unless you are short of room, also wouldn't hurt to burry some of them a bit closer to the first set of water leaves.

I should have the other room finished this weekend. Then i will be moving them into 5 gallon buckets but im having trouble finding a good soil mix here. The only thing that most stores here carry is mg soil and potting mix. Does home depot or lowes carry anything worth using? The plants are doing a 100x better since i replanted them and got the lights back on.

foxfarms potting soil my roots filled a 3 gallon bucket in 2 weeks with the stuff u can get it on e bay and many other places just google it

thanks, i will check ebay for it. heres a couple pics of the difference in the plants in just one day.

Awesome, looking better! I dig your light setup big improvement kinda reminds me of mine (see attachments) although I would ad more lighting to even out the light for the little ones, the way you have it now, I'm thinking you will eventually notice some of your plants leaning, due to trying to reach appropriate lighting, I would recommend 6 more lights/fixtures and place your young ones evenly under all the lights.

The last picture was like a week before when I first built the lighting, see how much they grown?
