Legend OG clone - DWC - SCROG - EXPERT KNOWLEDGE WELCOMED

Hey guys! So this is my first grow and I wanted to try out DWC. How am I doing? Do you see anything I can improve on?

The Set-up:

Legend OG clone

36” x 20” x 62” Vivosun Grow Tent

Viparspectra 450W LED Light

Apollo Horticulture 4” 190CFM In-line Duct Fan

20gal Tote

6” Net Pot

Vivosun Air Pump 950gph 32W 60L

8” Air Stones

Top Fin Power Head 30

6” Clip Fan

My Nutrients:

Veg + Bloom: Tap/Hard

Push Foliar Spray

+Life

Has anybody used these and has any special tricks?

It has been 9 days since I have placed my clone in the hydroton and so far this is how big she has grown. How is she looking?

PH:5.8-6.3

PPM: 280-300

If you need to know anything else just let me know. Thanks in advance!

IVe never ran my waterfalls through hydroton, but inside the bucket to avoid having to use air stones. It should work fine though.

Is that a 70lpm air pump? I have one running four stones. It's probably overkill for a single bucket, if it is. Good idea hanging it, but you're definitely going to want to hang it outside the tent. They create a lot of heat, and will make it much more difficult to keep the tent cool.

Also, you're going to want to rethink your exhaust fan setup.

  • Hang the scrubber inside the tent, at the top. This will help remove standing heat at the top of the tent, as well as draw the cooler air in at the bottom of the tent, and pass that cool air through the plants on the way up to the filter
  • Pull the air through the filter, not push. Pulling air is more efficient than pushing
  • Shorten the flexible duct as short as you can to make it run more efficiently
  • Consider disconnecting your scrubber until you're around a month into flower. This will help save some power, keep it running cooler, and extend the life of both the fan, and the filter.
  • If you don't have a fan speed controller, get one. You want to be able to turn the fan up and down, depending on the varying temps. You can get them for less than $20 on Amazon

I’m not sure what kind of pump that is but I have the Vivosun 32w 950gpm.
It’s been really good on temp wise hasn’t changed my overall temp at all. I manage to keep my tent at a nice 70degrees F.

Yeah I was planning on changing it up a little later. I had it like that because my light was higher and it wouldn’t fit properly without things being to stuffed together. I also didn’t really like the idea of an open duct just chilling waiting bugs to crawl up. My fan came with one luckily!

I’m just struggling with how much nutes to give her. I gave her the amount the bottle says and it’s making my ppm at 680 and my ec at 1.4. Yeah I wanted to add him to add a little good luck charm to my tent. You’re actually the first person to notice.

There are a couple different options for the intakes.
  • Your tent should have micro vents at the bottom. They work great, but you have to consider the amount of light in the room the tent resides in. If it's too bright after lights out, then you'll end up bleeding light to the plants, and they need uninterrupted, complete darkness.
  • You can get some flexible duct and insert them into the bottom duct vents, on the tent. Then loop the duct around itself to prevent light from leaking through. To further prevent light leaks, as well as keep bugs out, get some cheap, black nylon stockings, and cover the open end of the flexible duct with them. One will work for each duct. Tape the duct wire down so it doesn't poke holes through the pantyhose. This works awesome for filters, and I use many in my grow room.
General rule of thumb for the intake size, is twice the size of the fan. If you have a 6" fan, for example, you would need two, 6" ports open on the bottom of the tent, or the equivalent.

Walmart has really cheap pairs of pantyhose for $.50 each. Grab a few to keep on hand. Also, when the nylon gets dust buildup, carefully vacuum them. You don't want to restrict the airflow to the tent.

Way too high!

I'd be around 250ppm at that size. Use half of what the manufacturer recommends, with dwc. Because there's no buffer between the roots and nutes, you have to be careful. Also, dont forget to include your base tds in your total tds. My tap is about 70ppm. If my soup is reading 670ppm, then 600 of that is nutes, and the other 70 is from the tap water. If my goal is 500, then my meter would read 570.

i need a fan for my intake? i do have 2 passive intake places at the bottom that are already netted but the holes are pretty big. and right now i am currently running 24 hour light schedule.

No, you don't need another fan, unless you want to have an "active intake".

Yeah i noticed she was starting to look sad to i decided to dump my rez and refill. my starting tap water was at 156ppm, 5.9ph, 0.3ec, and 72 degress F. Adding all my nutes again (this time 1/4 strength) now my water is 278ppm, 5.8ph, 0.58ec, and the temp is 71degrees F. so from what you said i need to add another 131ppm worth of nutes to my soup?

Well, from my experience bro, I always go with "half" of whatever the co is saying to. Iv'e learned a little definitely goes a long way. Plus, if your not feeding her engh, trust me, she will let you know. Easy fix there. Just add nutes. Vs overfeeding and taking a chance at killing our babies. (: just my 2 :bigjoint:

No thread jack intended. 4 real. Here' is a pic of my ladies. Got a few different strains going now. Trying to wait n play catchup where a few was started at different times. Waiting until I can successfully take clones off the babies until I flip. These gals are already 3 ft tall. So needless to say I'm going to end up with "trees".

Here's the root system of one of the ladies roots

Again, sorry bro. Didn' mean to photo bomb ya.

Thanks (: I use GH 3 part series. Plus a handful of additional additives. Such as, age old kelp, GO silica, Calmag, and roots organics. Towards the last two weeks of veg I start adding in snowstorm, and also gravity.

What kind of set up do you have? Sounds like you got a pretty nice cocktail!
I am using 3 5 galon buckets, using 3 nch net pots with coco coir. 1 has a drip system with a water pump pumping food to the top. The other 2 have water pumps misting the bottoms of the net pots. They seem to love it thus far.
